An interesting autoduel game, but feels more like a puzzle than actual strategy.

It's an okay little game for the price. In campaign mode you play through 21 maps of slightly increasing difficulty, while being told a story in comic book style. The story is generic Mad Max stuff and not terribly interesting. The battles are like little chess matches where you and your opponent take turns moving your pieces around the map, trying to "capture" (destroy) the other side's vehicles before they destroy yours. Each vehicle type has its own rules for movement and attack (just like chess pieces), and it could have been very interesting, except that it was not developed far enough. There are only three different vehicle types, and the maps are small and cramped, so the strategic possibilities are limited. Most battles are decided within the first six moves; usually whichever side manages to strike first ends up winning. If there were more vehicle types, and if the maps were larger with a wider variety of terrain, the battles would have had a lot more tactical depth, but as it stands they feel more like solving puzzles than anything else. There is also a custom battle mode, but it uses the same maps and vehicles as campaign mode, so I did not see any reason to spend time on it. Once you have beaten the 21 campaign maps, you have seen everything the game has to offer, and there is very little replay value. In summary, not bad, but not as good as it could have been. I found it mildly entertaining for a few hours. If you find it on sale for under a dollar, and if you like the concept and the art, it might be worth a try.
