The setting alone works wonders. If there was a stand alone crpg set in a massive library ran by a cult that annotates history and altars people's memories, all above the dead body of a god, it would be the best thing ever, I think. It's made a lot better with the archmages, too. Love that Tayn guy. The story tries to do a little too much in its short run time. Flyconeg could've been a fun villain, him taking credit for some of the unnamed wall spells but having his work since erased by the Hand was clever, but he could've been erased from the narrative entirely and nothing would've really changed. His motives and monologue at the end also left a lot to be desired. The "big secret" he found up only ending up being the "big secret" you found out at the end of Pillars 1 was extrodinarily lame. If the final encounter was just Maura trying to take over Wael's titan form, and you could've encouraged her or antagonized her from there, the narrative would've been much cleaner and much more satisfying. On Wael's titan form, the fact that it does nothing to change the ending was also a pretty big disapointment. Obviously the destruction of the wheel needed to happen in every ending to act as a plot hook for the ill-fated pillars 3, but they could've at least put in an ending slide explaining how Wael prevented Eothas from destroying the glup-shitto reactor component of the wheel and it is salvaged by the faction that gets Ukaizo.Oh well! Kith have failed to repair the wheel anyway through their failure to buy Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Woedica was right. Long live the Queen that Was, Oathbinder, Burned Queen, Idol of the Leaden Key, etc etc [b]Final score: 9/10, 2nd best of the 5 pillars dlcs behind wm2

Pretty handily the best DLC of the bunch. A really cool dungeon, excellent art as always, and more stuff with Eora's Archmages is always welcome. Plus Wael is just really fun everytime they pop up. My only problem is it can lean a little too much into a jokey tone. Most of the jokes are pretty funny and get me, but there's a couple moments that really feel like they should be taken more seriously. All in all, a great DLC that makes really good use of the most unique parts of Eora, on top of just being a really fun DLC. Strong note to end on.

Definitely the best DLC, lots of lore, cool locations, couple powerful items, even few pets, also mechanically unique battles - which actually can be quite difficult. If you liked the base game/other DLCs there is no reason not to get this one as well.
