What a great game! :) Just played my first half hour and came back to leave an early review to (hopefully) encourage others to get it too. IT IS a wave shooter - no avoiding that. But it's a retro-fit shooter that gives me flashbacks to the classic Galaxians arcade. Which is a good thing! The graphics are very colourful and present a unique stylized environment from which you face your enemies. You've got an epic looking blaster and there's also a shield power-up you can collect which you hold in the other hand. Mentioning Galaxians is a great way to describe how the game plays. The music/audio fx also need a shout-out. The environment reacts to the beats of the music and there are numerous cool audio effects, like the black hole effect power-up, or the slow time one. There's a lot of polish in this Early Access title already including an expansive options screen to help tweak the graphics performance to suit your setup. Only one environment is available so far ("Space War") and I've only played in Single Player (on the Oculus Rift with Touch) but there is a multiplayer too, so hopefully the VR community helps this title to grow. An obvious comparison would be Space Pirate Trainer which is a roomscale experience, but in my case SPT goes overboard and there's far too much dodging rather than shooting for my liking. Stardust on the other hand is an easy to play arcade shooter, and that's good thing if you find titles like SPT too much effort after a day's work. If you note some of the depressingly high scores then keep in mind you need to get past wave 10 before the scores start ramping up, with the enemies getting more challenging! Looking forward to seeing the game grow in content and hopefully with its community too.
