Played this way back in the late 80's, and I was engrossed. It was, alongside another old gem, one of the first games I became addicted to. I felt the terror as the t-rex charged at me AFTER I just managed to keep the 4 of them alive. The horror as my remaining two got attacked by the damn cannibals!
I think it was like one of those old rubber dinosaur-type movies, if you get it, you will love it, if you don't, you are probably too young and spoon-fed on CGi.

This is a game that knows exactly what it wants to be and does it quite well. It's archaic controls take some getting used to for a modern gamer, however beyond that and and understanding the fairly simple inventory system the controls work splendidly for the type of game it is.
This is an old-timey adventure game in the vein of The Lost World and The Land that Time Forgot specifically, and you control a party of rather interesting characters. A man-of-action, probably ex-military pilot and guide Jarrett is your lead, you only needing or having the opportunity to switch should he die, a young couple in the form of athletic and helpful young Dirk and equally athletic and helpful and fairly independent Gloria, and finally the fat, unathletic old man Clive who frequently complains, however he is a warm body with a gun and he is in fact better than than having nobody for a 4th in this dire situation.
Your enemies are varied - everything from dinosaurs to deadly armadillos and even the locals - some friendly, some not, but some of your greatest threats you'll find are the various pitfalls of the deadly plateau your plane crash-landed on - rocks, deadly falls, even bizarre tentacles from the water will bother you quite roundly and a first time player might be surprised at just how challenging the adventure can be, even with a full team at your disposal. This game begs the question - who, - if anyone, will survive? Will you get the whole team to safety? Will you sustain a tragic loss? Will you protect the woman with whom there is a tentative love triangle between you and her fiance Dirk? Will you ditch Dirk to have Gloria to yourself? Can you live with yourself if you do? Can you protect the people you swore to guide through the Himalayan plateau?
Find the answer two all of these questions and more in Where Time Stood Still, the epic retro adventure that blew this reviewer's socks off.
