Anark.io is a free browser game/mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a paid product, as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is yet another of literally hundreds of lazy amateur 2D retro top-down shooter/brawlers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. You control a cat with a gun and shoot bugs. Whatever. This is pretty lazy stuff, although I don't think this is an asset flip. It does "work" but it's not much fun... shoot bugs, sometimes other cats, collect coins and bank them, it's boring. The really galling thing about this is that it's free on mobile and as a playable web app in your browser. But they're charging money for this on Steam. Now, what's happening when someone tries to charge you money for something that's free? Yep, it's a scam. They're trying to scam gamers on Steam. This is absolutely not okay. From a technical perspective, as a browser/mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the mobile app, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the mobile app, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The mobile app features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the mobile app unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Because this is a mobile/browser app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this mobile app is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality mobile app is to be expected. So, should you buy this mobile app? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $5 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. FIVE BUCKS FOR A FREE BROWSER GAME. Just who do they think we are?

In general, I recommend this game. Be warned this is an unfinished & abandon game! Only buy at -75% Fortunately most of the bugs are in the menu & shopping store. Al thought they are menu breaking bugs, that even a 10 years old kid making his first video game will notice & easily correct, the game-play is great. There is also the unfinished part... not a bug yet it's even worse. You almost spend more time in the shop buying crates for your upgrades, weapons & characters; than playing the game. There is no option to spend all or a large quantity of your gold, you are also required to click numerous times in order to open each crate. This essentially transforms it into a clicker game.

The games Steam suggests. Anark.io is a twinstick shooter that is trying to be an online game in offline mode. The gameplay is simple you run around an arena shooting bugs and other "players" to get money and place it in the bank. The idea is good, but it does become repetitive fast. Pros: good controls fun experience Cons: no multi player basicly just an online game in a bot room one map one game type in short; a game with potential but lack a lot of features. Wait for sale. P.S. invest in money upgrades first, you will thank me later
