A good Sidescroller shooter with fast-paced combat and various guns. The only thing that i want to tell is, how about adding mouse controller availability?

I bought this game without really knowing what it was. It just looked cool and had an interesting name. So once I clicked play I didn't know what I was going to play really. But I was happily met with awesome rock music and a really fun game. I played a bunch of times trying to get the highest score I possibly could. Got into the 39th spot so far. And when I want to throw on my own music or wanna check something real quick; I can just tab out of the game with no issue. Take note Ubisoft, since when playing The Division or The Crew 2 tabbing out is a huge issue.
I really love the aesthetic, the music; and the gameplay. There's subtle details like how you tell how much health you have and when you take damage. It's a game that not only is really fun but shows how its art and detail to gameplay is really damn good. And playing with a controller makes it even better!
My only complaint is it doesn't seem I can shoot the red missiles which is midly annoying.

I grew up during the 90's and this game really brings me back there! If you like fast paced arcade shoot 'em ups, GROOD is something you wanna play. The game has simple mechanics: you fight robots, you collect new weapons (not so many, but fun enough), you fight bosses (i love the giant squid!) and you reach the next level, trying to get to the top of the leaderboard. The game is not easy (even too hard for me, cause i'm not an hardcore gamer myself), so if you like something challenging, i think this one can give you a few interesting hours.

Repetitive levels. Repetitive enemies. No power ups. Repetitive, boring game.

It's basically a mobile game (jetpack joyride esque) ok I guess. Got bored after not long, but hey, it was only 50c

If you are easily frustrated with difficult SHMUPS, then based on my experience you might want to give this game a miss unless it is heavily discounted.
Not because it is a poorly-developed or "bad" game at all. Quite the opposite.
It is a very well-crafted but SO FRUSTRATINGLY DIFFICULT game that you may just feel like giving up at times.
The game is designed to be a real test of skill and a visual and audio assault on the senses and reflexes. The driving heavy metal soundtrack and relentless, difficult enemy types will test your perseverance to the very edges of tolerance.
The graphics really are delicious in this game. I also love how the screen cracks and get scuffed-up as you take damage.
But that element also makes the game even more brutal than it already is.

The game is exactly what you should expect from a classic old school shooter. Its fast, chaotic, colourful and complimented by an awesome heavy metal soundtrack. I grabbed it on sale and it was a steal at the price let alone full price! I recommend this game to anyone who loves arcade indie games and high scores! I will be returning to take the top position on those leader boards!
+ Fast paced fun
+ High score leader boards
+ Awesome heavy metal soundtrack
+ Smooth controls
+ Inventive menu system and cool 90's filter available
+ Tough as nails!

Right off the bat - I do like this game - or at least I like parts of what is here. GROOD has edge and oomph. But it's underdeveloped in terms of gameplay. I think it has an identity crisis. While it feels like it wants to be a rogueish sidescroller, there isn't really any progression (run-based or meta). I've only come across two minor gun powerups and a health pickup. The gun powerups just make the default gun more powerful. Ho-hum. So, I've come to the conclusion that this is meant to be totally a tough-as-nails arcade shooter. If that's the case, I think it falls short in terms of scoring and powerups.
Essentially, the levels are static, but there are day and night cycles and random weather. Okay, it's a nice touch, but is it enough given there is only one ship, very few enemy types, virtually no progression or story? Ehhhhh, I'd say it's not enough. Overall, the gameplay is fun, but I doubt few will be logging serious time. And that's okay to a certain extent, because the asking price is next-to-nothing.
There is one cardinal sin committed here that is ultimately driving me to downvote. This is a biggie. Let's call it the 'cosmetics over function' conundrum. In the dev teams attempt to make a furious-yet-visually-stunning world, they created an environment where it is all-too-often to not see enemy bullets, and therefore many hits feel cheap. Cheap not because you didn't have the skill to dodge, but because you literally didn't see it amidst the bamboo + night time dark + snow falling + other particles. Or it could be that the bullet is one of the smallest things in the game (size-wise) and has no colors to really stand out.
Pros:
+Obviously the price point is fine; the game is fun enough but I don't think its going to be driving people to constantly struggle for the high score on any kind of serious timescale
+Albeit small, the soundtrack is quite good
+All considering, it's fun
+Pretty cool universe setting
Cons:
-Cosmetics over function; too many cheap hits from bullets I simply could see among the all-too-hectic background
-The health bar/level is cryptic, and the screen always 'cracks' in the same place; I think it needs to have more variation
-May be a bit of an identity crisis here; is it a rogueish game or an arcade shooter?
-Regardless of the above bullet point, I'd like to see more powerups or progression (even if it's only more story)
-How about an alt fire for the main gun? That might help shake things up
-Scoring mechanics are completely hidden
I would love to recommend GROOD, but in a saturated market of top quality shooters - I just can't, even considering this price point.
