I have very mixed feelings about this game, but I feel inclined to express my inner critic.
Uagi-Saba is a great game on paper. A little, chill, slow-paced colony sim about raising giant creatures and trying to rebuild society in a deep underground world. Plus, its module-based base growth system similar to fallout shelter is easy to understand, the little tidbits of lore scattereed around show a fully fleshed-out world, and the art style makes it a dream to look at. It's defenitely a nice cozy game.
However, it's only that: a nice cozy game. Not a good cozy game, not a memorable cozy game, JUST a NICE cozy game, and even that's stretching it a bit thin.
The gameplay is very slow, which is a mixed bag depending on who you ask, the noble guardians you raise are about as sturdy as a card house with several needs and heavy resource drain, and the module-based expansion makes correcting your mistakes either nigh impossible, very costly, or both.
I feel somewhat bad about saying these things, because this game is clearly a work of passion with enough charm and style to choke a horse. With a bit more polish and balancing, this game could've been great. Instead, it's a mediocre digital slog priced at a whopping $15.00.
5/10
Built like a cheap chocolate bunny: Boundless charm, hollow interior, and not very filling.
