Utterly Fantastic 10/10 Would Recommend!

Get in, shoot, get out, Nice!

I just bought neon abyss it's very fun but i didn't know that there was a neon abyss 2 coming T^T

My review probably rehashes things everyone else has already said: the game itself is pretty good overall but I tapped out at 3 hours and 1 win because during that time I rarely felt more powerful by level 4 than level 1, with scaling meaning that the only changes I saw in real gameplay terms were bullet increases for crowd control. The changes between weapons are relatively unimpressive and - with other options all over - the general feeling of low lethality, lack of visible forward momentum in power, and needless lack of item descriptions (cardinal sin in a game with so many unexplained options btw) just means I'm not coming back after 3 hours. I can't think of any reason I'd rather play this than competitors, and it's a shame because the visual style and map management are genuinely really well developed, but the lack of flashy, fun synergy is really hard to get past in this genre.

I can't recommend Neon Abyss unless it's on sale. It's very generic and lackluster, and your money would be better spent on a more cohesive and unique roguelike. Super solid potential to have a decent interconnecting theme... So why didn't they do it? Enemy designs make no sense given what you *think* the theme of the game would be. Neither does the pet system. Or the weapons. Or the lackluster gameplay, room layouts, and builds. hope 2 is better

this is a frustrating game but i do recommend it for people who like a challenge and who are retro fans personally I don't love and i don't hate the i'm in between loving and hating the game but all and all is a good game BUY IT if you want i do think it is a bit over priced i got on sale so i'm not complaining but i think this game is more of a four dollar game VS 22 dollar hope this helps.

Mechanics and graphics are great. Its challenging and fun... Bosses are great... Dynamics how you move through episodes are a little bit too weird for me tho. And I personally dont like the beings above your head in the game. Still I reccomend that game to try it out!

While Neon Abyss doesn't do anything wrong, it really doesn't do anything right either. The controls/level design/gameplay is all acceptable but doesn't really go above or beyond to make a lasting impression. The game lands at an exact 5/10, it's not bad but there really isn't anything it does to keep me engaged. You'd be better off playing any of the other highly rated rougelikes on steam.

Basically Rogue Legacy, except with guns. Personally, I love it. I'm not sure what new NA2 is going to bring to the table, but if you see this game on a discount (and you will), and you enjoy controller-based platformers with guns, pick this little gem up. Oh, and the OST is banger too.

Iv'e loved this title since it dropped. anyone complaining must not understand the point of the game is to actually have fun playing a game versus learning a broken system that actively hates the player.
