This game is pretty fun once you get over the initial learning curve. It starts out slow since you will only be able to focus on trade and minor combat early on, but once you start building your own ships, you can take any direction you prefer. The developers are working on an in-game tutorial, but in the meantime, I have a guide you can reference for some early game basics. Don't get this game if you are looking for something action-packed, but it is good if you want a relaxing sailing simulator with a fantasy theme.

i cant say i enjoy the game. very slow phased game play way too many thinks are going on right on start with litle to no tutorial . the sailing is way to slow. and the fighting with the pirates is one of the worst i saw in a game. it took me almost 3m to kill a pirate and the shoot system is worst than a full auto ak spray. i feel this game is on aplha phase.

TBH, I didn't enjoy original game since it's too slow, thus I use CE to accelerate this game in 2x speed, generally a good rpg, but lack main plot and visible characters, make this game world less vivid.
Considered its price, I think it's acceptable for me.

I love this game. I like to play games slow and defensively, so this one is right up my alley. After 22 hours of playing, I still don't have the ability to build a second ship, and I haven't really explored much outside my Elven capital (SilverWind) and it's two closest cities (BightWater & FrostWhisper), but I have a bank balance of about 1.2 million dollars.
Just trading between my three cities mentioned above is very profitable, and with only one ship that keeps me fairly busy. I've managed to accomplish a few building upgrades. (I suggest upgrading your warehouses first. Trust me, you'll need the space.). I've sunk a few small pirate ships, but I still have to run from the medium and large pirates though. I've exhausted one source of wood and three mines already, so the trips to get resources are getting longer.
As other reviewers have noted, the "tutorial" is kind of lacking. Kind of a learn-as-you-go game, yet not really hard to figure out. Don't know what I'm supposed to do to "beat" the game, but I don't really care right now. At the pace I'm exploring, I'm sure I've got at least over a hundred more hours to go to cover every inch of the map. I picked this game up for $1.49 (50% off), and it's definitely worth the money I paid.
