Unplayable for me, every frame it bounces between mouse control and what I presume is an xbox style control method. needless to say this game is very early. Latest patch says this was fixed, but as of v1.1.1b, it was not...

Easy at first then a very steep unbalanced difficulty curve that starts making you have to repeatedly to levels over and over.
You simply do not have the coin to prevent some of the early runners / armored units from getting to the end.

It's competent but basic at this stage of early access (Aug 18). Battle mode is of no interest to me since it's all about trying to spend the right cash to attack and defend and there doesn't seem to be much point in the different types of troops. It doesn't float my boat and I don't see how it ever could. The worst aspect is that each little island you conquer forces you to play this style of game, and since it's not enjoyable to me and I don't see it ever could be, it just borks the whole game.
The campaign mode is where my interest lies, at this time though it's a little weak. There are only three levels to each tower and not that many towers. There's no split tech tree for the towers either. In between levels, there's no way to progress your technology or make any decisions about where to level up. That's a standard feature for tower defense so I'm surprised to see it missing.
Hopefully they'll add more features as they progress through early access - there hasn't been a good tower defense since Gem Craft so it'd be great to have another one.
Without a demo it's tricky but I'd recommend giving this a go if you like tower defense and don't mind taking a punt and there may be some added features in the future which will make me reinstall.

At first glance thought this was a convential (albeit very competent) Tower Defense tritle.
The discovery of the final level on the first island which is the first big toe in the water for "Battle Mode" sees an interesting new and deeper twist to the game. Battle Mode is a separate menu option and looks like it would be great fun in the Multiplayer option - although you can play singleplayer against the CPU.
In Battle Mode you attack as well as defend and have to carefully allocate your money between the two options.
Thus far I am really enjoying the title and consider it is very good value for money.

I strongly advise against buying this game even for 1$, many F2P TD games are better than this.
Repetitive but not in a good way, and little in the way of actual fun.
Looks deceptively great but rather cumbersome in terms of controlling, no hotkeys for towers and the speed will make you play, even at a normal speed, as though it were turbo mode in other TD games. Towers regardless of type are severely under-powered and the game and the game itself just gets more tedious than anything else. Another big negative is that the camera is locked in a specific isometric angle and can only be panned up and down slightly....whilst you may be able to move the camera around the map, the view is irritating and not helpful.
Pros:
- It looks good but I'm guessing it wont play on low end systems well as a result.
- The castle vs castle fighting is interesting.
Cons:
- Castle Versus Castle is basically just imbalanced towards AI having extra resources.
- Repetitive.
- Towers are severely under-powered in comparison to enemy waves.
- Extremely short.
- No hotkeys for tower placement, upgrades nor destruction.
- No hotkeys for speed control, nor for pause.
- Normal speed feels like speed setting 3 in most other TD games.
- No identification of tower resale value.
- Towers sometimes waste shots firing at enemies in dying animation.
- Absolutely terrible viewpoint from the camera and not much ability to change the viewing angle of battlefield.
In conclusion: Don't buy this game. 2/10, insofar as TD games go.
