Included train is completely broken. No keybinds work, can't move pantograph up, won't move at all.
Edit: they fixed it!

Another crap German route. The U-Bahn is fantastic and I highly recommend it but this oooohhhhh boy. Just like most other German routs it has the standard set of issues. Invisible signals and Speed Limits but also feels really slow even with higher FOV. Outside scenery is awful and dull. There are only 6 scenarios compared to like 25+ for the U-Bahn. How did this get so messed up when the U-Bahn is so fantastic. Requested refund. DO NOT BUY.

I cannot recommend this add-on and the reasons are two: 1. the train destination display either does not work in free-roam scenarios or the user manual doesn't have any proper explanation (the manual only says you have to "press 0 or shift + 0" (actually, shift + 0 deactivates it; but anyway, the only message the destination display shows is "Nicht einsteigen", (I think this means "do not board"). I tried to use the codes shown in 'RWA BR 423 Train Destination Codes - Frankfurt" document - but how am I supposed to enter it? With what? On what keyboard?
2. Manual door control (the one you are required to press 'open door' and 'close door' buttons in order to open / close doors') does not work properly. In order to close the door manually, you have to first press ctrl+shift+t and then press the 'close door' button ("."), but then, once the train is at the next station, the open door button doesn't work, and you have to press 'ctrl+shift+T' again, and then press T in order to open the doors.
3. The English language manual refers to a German language web page, and not all of its elements may be automatically translated into English.

The route and the train itself is amazing, but there is one big problem.
The problem is: You need ICE 2 EMU dlc too, for this to fully work, as ICE 2 is used in AI services in this route (probably, I don’t have ICE 2 so I can’t be sure).
When I bought this on sale, I didn’t get the ICE 2 dlc, even though the steam page (buy with required DLC-button) said it is needed, as I thought “Why would a commuter train route need a high-speed train?”, and while the route and the DB BR 423 EMU, which IS included in the route, work well, you might get a error screen when starting a scenario, where your choices are to either exit to main menu, or edit assets in the map. Usually restarting the game solves this, but I find it crazy that, for a commuter train route, which is already very expensive, you need a high speed train for the commuter train route to fully work, meaning the actual price of the fully functional route is around half more than the price of this route alone, which is very high already.
I’d recommend this route, but only on sale, as you need both ICE 2 and this route to enjoy this fully, and their combined no-sale cost is around 50€ (very high for a commuter train route).
To sum it all up, you need ICE 2 EMU DLC to be able to fully enjoy the route without having to restart the game every time you start another scenario, and I recommend getting them both (This route and ICE 2) on sale (just click the “buy with required dlc” button and you’ll be fine).

A pretty good and *at the time* fairly fault free German add-on. The Frankfurt S-Bahn Rhein Main Route is two routes in one covering 60km, the S5 and S6 routes both converging at Frankfurt using the BR 423.
The included BR423 is well detailed and could pass off as a *Pro* add-on if sold separately. Changeable destination boards cover S1 through S9 allowing it to be used on other suitable routes easily. Usable safety systems are included along with operating doors specifically on one side plus in the usual manner. The only downside is the train audio is rather loud and doesn't loop well.
Six career scenarios are split into three S5 and three S6 scenarios and can be completed with or without the use of safety systems. Only one issue was seen with an unexpected speed limit change without any warning from trackside signs or signal indications.
The price might seem a bit high but you get two routes in one with decent scenario building potential and a *Pro* loco. But no harm in waiting for a sale.

Very nicely done and detailed DLC. The included DB BR 423 is especially very well done. For example, it has functioning destination displays, manually operable doors and instrument lights. Even though some functions are only accessible through keyboard shortcuts, presence of them isn’t usually the case at least in my experience.

This is by far the best looking DLC for TS 2019. Even the clouds move. The scenerios are challenging. The price is steep but it's worth it.

Ok - I must admit I don't really fancy S-Bahn lines. I tried many of them and I got bored quickly. On the contraty I really like Frankfurt U-Bahn, which I recommend if you really want to try a service with lot of stops, because it's so varied and interesting. Now with Frankfurt S-Bahn I finally have a positive feeling. The scenery is beatiful, the train is done pretty well and the route is finally varied. We have some underground stations, we have a few little longer and faster moments, a lot of curves and different speed limits, also some depots and sidings are modelled. And we have two different lines S5 and S6 which obviously start at the same station but then branch in different directions.
Graphics is amazing and it's really stunning even during night. Sounds are close to perfection. All speed limits have warning signs in advance so hudless driving is possible even without a lot of route learning. You just need to remember where the stations are. Well I miss lack of spoken announcements. There are only few scenarios but QD is done really well with some AI traffic.
I highly recommend this product especially when you are unsure about short regional S-Bahn driving. I think it's the most fun of that kind available on the market and good place to start and see if you like that kind of driving. Frankfurt has many very well-made add-ons so you can make it your hometown in Train Simulator and drive different services around. If you already own U-Bahn you will drive the S-Bahn service which you may have already spotted on parallel track at some stations. If you have Frankfurt High Speed - you will recognize the vicinity of Main Station very well and you can use the EMU to also drive on S7 line with that add-on.
Included EMU is done really well. You have standard PZB which works as intended. Doors can be opened left or right individually. Headlights look very well and you also have high beam avaialble which works nicely during night and in tunnels. Braking is a bit challenging because the train won't stop on a dime so it feels realistic.
The price - well in my opinion it's too high for 60 km route in total, but I must admit that although not very long it's modelled in every little detail. City center looks just amazing and so do the suburbs. A lot of love and effort was put to polish it to the limit. I really recommend this add-on and I find it very fun to drive even though I usually don't like this kind of driving that much.
