skipped basically every single cutscene and piece of dialogue because I could not care less - but the combat is very fun if you enjoy dmc or similar games, especially considering this is made by one person (as far as I know)

Fun, Short and Well Executed.
Assault Spy is a DMC style spectacle fighter that has heart and charm. It's nothing mind breaking but what is there works and works well. The combat is great and the more moves you unlock, the more fantastic it becomes, allowing you to chain longer combos for deadlier effect or even offering different styles of combat that suits your preference.
The game has a lot of heart and charm with its writing and character, I absolutely enjoyed the humor and character interactions. The overall campaign will take you just under 10 hours with there being 2 playable characters that offer different sides of the story.
The game itself has additional game modes that i've yet to fully unlock but you will definitely get just above the 10 hour mark with all the available game modes offered.
If you're a fan of DMC style game or just looking for a quick adventure game that'll certainly make you smile while also providing ample challenge, look no further than Assault Spy.

Pretty good game, mostly for fans of DMC3 and 4. Both playable characters have a lot different moves and play quite differently from each other. I wish the game was longer, there was more enemy variety . . . and that I could take the story seriously.
Note: Some moves can abused A LOT, mostly Amelia's.

Beat the main campaign in a single sitting so I have a lot to say. Assault Spy is one of the only indie character action games I've played besides Ultrakill, and I think this genre has a lot of potential for independent developers to mess around with. I'd heard good things about it and upon playing, I can see why.
This game's combat is electrifying. You'd think a character action game without the lock on games like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta have would be weird and clunky, but Assault Spy makes it work because of how much fun it all feels. Combos feel genuinely effortless and there's no other way to describe it. Pretty much every element of the combat for both characters is essential to creating stylish gameplay and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Difficulty-wise, this is closer to something like DMC: Devil May Cry. It's easy to get the hang of how things work and look cool while doing it, so for the most part it's not too difficult. I rarely ever struggled for the first half of the game. I didn't die once until Officer Club and then I only ever died again at the very end. The enemies aren't very difficult for the most part besides the camera headed men in black who look like Skibidi Toilet characters. They're probably the hardest enemies overall, even on their own, and I actually died to them once. Enemies are generally more of a threat in groups, otherwise, akin to DMC 3, because on their own they are mostly combo fodder that catch you off guard if you aren't paying attention to them amongst the other enemies.
Bosses are generally fun, all the Officers are good and I liked fighting them, but I didn't really like the final boss much. In general, the fun of this game is well deserved, even if from playing on Normal I wasn't challenged too much.
I only really had one problem with this game, that being the writing. The story is mostly just there as an excuse for the gameplay, but the writing and voice acting around it genuinely made me commit to skipping 75% of the cutscenes, the 25% being the cutscenes for the first 3 stages. The dialogue exchanges in this game are genuinely draining. It's the most generic anime banter that basically has Kanoko asking about something in a stupid way or saying something absurd, Asaru responding by going "sToP bEiNg AnNoYiNg!11!11" and repeat for about 15 more interactions, that or it's Asaru thirsting over the Professor and Kanako making fun of him for it, in which he responds with generic "oH i'M nOt AtTrAcTeD tO hEr!1!11!1!1". I genuinely barely enjoyed any of the characters here except for Amelia, who's perky personality kind of reminded me of Viola and I liked that, but otherwise, they're just not interesting. Kanoko is irritating, Asaru is a generic "Calls out the absurdity of stupid things happening" anime protagonist who you've seen plenty of times before in anime like Dragon Maid, the Professor is hot but not much else and Mr Showtime may as well not even be a character because he barely appears and mostly just laughs at you in the final boss fight. As amazing as this game is, the dialogue really did get on my nerves.
This also wasn't helped by the voice acting. There's no English dub, so you're stuck having to listen to Kanoko's annoying high pitched voice that grates on my fucking ears to no end. After the third stage I legitimately turned off the voices for the rest of the game because I was genuinely losing my goddamn mind. At the very least, the soundtrack was really good.
Assault Spy is, otherwise, a really damn fun and great time. If you liked Devil May Cry, you'll certainly love this.
