This game takes getting used to for new players. The inability to turn with a mouse really sucks at first, but eventually I got used to it. It did cause significant issues with getting one or two of the hidden statues though. The world itself is definitely strongly influenced by Ice Age 5 with the pink glowing crystals everywhere and all the ancient statues and technology. While the puzzle-solving is fun, a bit of more naturalistic touch could go quite well (throwing a rock to cause a log or ice sheet fall in place for instance, or having more natural rock and tree stumps as ramps). I do appreciate the references to the movies with the statues, background animals and the boss battles involving four of the actual characters. I think collecting crystal "shards" is a bit weird considering the other two Ice Age games I've played make you collect natural items like cherries, acorns and other fruits/nuts, that serve as currency, level-up and health regeneration. I definitely prefer the fruit/nut based levelling/regeneration system. Having the different items that had different values . Here you only have points and health. Especially in a game called "Scrat's NUTTY Adventure" the entire lack of any kind of nut whatsoever does feel weird. The maps are pretty nice, although some could have used a tiny bit more work. There are many areas that look like a secret path but are only a short depression in a wall or else are covered in large collision boxes. On my playthroughs I've noticed a several areas where you can easily fall underneath the map (usually the center of several tall rocks where I assume the overlapping hitboxes funnel you downwards) and have occasionally encountered glitches, although these are minor and rarely impact the gameplay. Other than that the levels themselves are well designed. The enemies are somewhat annoying, especially when trying to speedrun through the levels to get all the pieces and statues. Sometimes it's better to just speed past them than to engage. most are pretty easy to avoid, save for a handful of rat groups in later areas that exist in a place where you need to solve a puzzle first to get to. Thankfully, you can reach these with the rocks. Overall, the game is pretty fun, if challenging and a tad repetitive at times. Getting all the items does feel rewarding. Probably not for everyone, but I certainly enjoyed it. 8.5/10
