I'm not one to complain, concept for the game decent. I like the pixel art and music. There just some parts that you can get soft locked in at any moment. I also found tons of bugs at the first three levels. The music, very good. I can listen to it and feel pumped. However, the game-play kinda does suck. Everything kind is hard to see with environment, and hit boxes are massive for some odd reason. I even had my camera break at some points because I fell "too fast". Would I recommend this game? Possibly not. Is it worth 20 bucks to play this? no, I would prob give the 5 at it's current state. There are other games I could've spent 20 bucks on, but I wanted to see what this game would offer. Unfortunately, It was a let down. Maybe if I spent more hours I possibly could've like it, but from already suffering from bugs, camera breaks, soft locks, annoying stops. I kinda stopped enjoying it, and felt annoyed that nothing was working well.

I have been stuck in the floor, the controls are whack, semi unresponsive, like everyone else I got the game for 2 bucks with a steam coupon.
The random text really pulls you out of the game and sometimes makes you die because you were in the middle of your jump, dash is not handy, needs to be controllable.
The achievements also seem to be bugged, "complete half the game" is gotten by less people than "complete the game" yeah seems right.
Overall not really worth it, great Idea, poor execution.

The game is horrible. One of the worse I had played. Many bugs, achievments that never be unlocked, the neglect of developer to set the fails and the lack of updates. I think that's why the game is so cheap. Nobody wants to know about it...

Cluster of really bad game design inside a overpriced game for 17 euro. The fact that enviromental dangers are the same color as the platform and background. Wacky physics engine which leads to unexpected outcome when traveling. Spikes that their hitbox is not the same as shown. Dont make same choice as me and even with 90% discount and 2 euro of purchase i feel robbed.

i got this and played it like maybe 6 or 7 years ago for a 90% sale or something, i dont remember. of all my games this is easily the #1 worst... thing... i own. the controls are awful, the jump and action key are bound to the same button, achievements dont work, good luck getting them if you even want to bother, i tried to bother and look at my life now.
i truly, truly pity those who bought this game for like $20 lmao.
im just doing this review to add to the negative review count because i was searching for coupon games and i realised every single steam coupon was for terrible games. guess what? purple heart had coupons too and i remembered the game and wanted to do justice. dont get this game, at all. there may be some pity you can give the developers considering that the artstyle isnt that much of an eyesore but thats it.

I got this for 2 dollars from a steam coupon. Don't recommend paying the full price, or getting game at all. Bad settings, can't change the audio (which is loud as hell), and very confusing platform. 1/10 BAD GAME

The only other game i was ever unable to finish that i got from a community coupon is blueprint tycoon. But atleast blueprint tycoon had the basics. Every single thing you can imagine could be wrong about a game is wrong about this game. Its overpriced. It seems way to short. It has literally no tell on some traps. Its harder to wrangle the mechanics then the game. This game is unbelievable terrible. I would question getting this at 1$ but its a full 20$. This is the worst review ive ever had to give to a game to date.. I really wouldnt get this if i were you.

This game is really bad! Here's why:
-There's countless bugs
-The controls are unresponsive
-The level design is lame
-You can get stuck to the point you need to restart the level
-The music and graphics are mediocre at best
I paid 2$, yet I'm still let down :(

Good concept, but the execution is lacking in many areas. I liked the overall aesthetic with the pixel art style, and the lighting effects were atmospheric and thematic. I lost interest quickly though as the controls were just too clunky. It's a shame because I feel like this game could have been really good - especially for the cheap price tag. A few points of feedback:
Jump and activate *need* to be a different button. Several times I got stuck in an area where there was a console to activate, and short walls on both sides. This is effectively a soft lock as you can't jump away with the console close enough to think you want to press the button again instead.
Need some control over the dash length - the times I got stuck in the corner with the console were due to the dash length being so long that it took me into the inescapable hole.
Jump physics could be better - the player character immediately stops drifting up once you let go of the jump button - this is unintuitive.
Wall jump controls are clunky. As it is, holding towards the wall and jumping sends you straight out - a useless angle in most circumstances. To jump up, you have to hold two keys. To jump up and then out, you have to hold two keys, then swap one mid jump. None of these are intuitive. The mechanic is clearly inspired by Megaman X, and this game could do well to model after their walljump physics.
The developer mistakes lack of visual cues for "difficulty". Hiding spikes behind the walls and not having them show up until you are close enough to die from it is not difficult - it's poor game design. In a good game, the player can see a location/object and immediately tell whether or not it is safe to be there. Consider dark souls. The player is never wondering whether or not the monster with the giant pitchfork is going to hurt them. The difficulty is not in identifying the threat, but rather with dealing with it.
Ironically, the game holds the players hand through things that are painfully obvious. Example: there is a block with a skull on it. Even if the player has never played a video game before, they should know better than to step on it, but the game unhelpfully reminds them not to anyway.
There are a few gramattical missteps in the dialogue as well.
It's for these reasons that I can't recommend this game. Were the developer to release a patch that addressed the clunky controls, softlock issues, and problems with clarity, it would absolutely be worth the cheap price.

Purple Heart is what I call a platformer in a Meatboy genre. Unfortunately, I have lots of complaints other than high difficulty. There are some issues with controls and overall lack of intuitive mechanics. Also, I would like to see a more satisfying death animation with a sound effect.
Issues that need to be addressed:
- jump button and activation button should not be the same
- some spawn points are in a way of danger
- too much delay before sticking to a wall
- needs more air control when bouncing off walls
- wall slide should be faster if I hold down
- the dash needs distance control like shorter range if you hold back
- visibility issues ( black spikes coming out of black walls with no indication, sometimes not in a predictable way) - This is not the kind of difficulty I look for
Final Thoughts 5/10
It can be a decent hardcore platformer with more polish. Music is very nice although I don't find the game particularly enjoyable visually (a little hard to see). Right now most of the difficulty comes from less than fluid controls and visibility problems.
