A great tower defence game with plenty of depth. You can level up so each time you play you are gaining a small bonus and there are LOTs of strats available to you. Well worth checking out. Needs a larger player base for online play but you can still enjoy a game yourself and gain XP.

This game is definitely something that had a lot of things going on. For people who love min-maxing towers and watching as the A.I struggles to even move an inch, this is definitely a game I feel I would recommend. I do have 2 problems. One, I feel that you're just thrown into the game and have to deal with the various and many different numbers so for a new person to video games, they would feel completely overwhelmed. Also this game does take a fair amount of power to run. I think it just because I play single player steam games on my surface but it was running into some frame rate problems. I had to turn down the graphics quality to "toaster" which is funny and the lowest quality and even then my laptop had some issues. I'm sure though that it is just my bad laptop but it is something to think about. This has a method to it's madness and I think it's main problem comes from too much going on. From the dozens of numbers and stats to all the different tower attributes, it has a good idea at heart but it is kinda like going to an all you can eat buffet after eating. You just kinda feel overwhelmed however if you can work past that and learn what is where, you will definitely have a fun time playing this game. It shows polished gameplay and hard work from the unique graphical design of each of the towers and enemies to the environments and the controls begin to feel smooth and refined once you find out how to use them even slightly.

The developer has a great, somewhat twisted sense of humor. Had a great laugh at some of the comments/description. If you get any spare time while playing, read the tool tips for the enemies. I love it. Great looking game for the most part. Beautiful artwork, mostly. If you like particle effects, get ready to be dazzled. It's a good game... but.. I just can't bring myself to like it. I really wanted to like it, it has lots of tower options. You have 9 factions of towers, with 5 towers in each faction, then each are customizable with 93 different equipment/rune ability add-ons. For a first time release, I have to admit, I expected a disaster of never ending bug ridden experience. This wasn't the case... well... until the end. Don't get me wrong, I love tower defense games, and I love the potential of this game, I just can't bring myself to like it. If you're into tower defense games, it's well worth getting. With a little tweaking and some more work on the part of the developer, this game could easily become a top 10 TD game. It's the little things that make playing the game a chore instead of a fun experience. For example, you have to press right mouse click to buy... ok, that's fine.. But it's also right mouse click to cancel, so you have to constantly stop and think what you need to click instead of the interface being intuitive and consistent. Some improvements: The UI/Interface is a mess. In some areas it's well polished (like where you're choosing towers), in other areas (multiple ui elements up at the same time and camera movement) it's frustratingly clunky. An indicator for the enemies path at the start of the game should be up by default instead of needing to press left-shift. A way (or at least I haven't figured out how to do it) to restart the current round. There are at least a couple of levels where the UI covers up the path of the enemy and you can't zoom out far enough, so your only option is to zoom in and lower the camera. It can feel constricting. On the bigger maps, not being able to zoom out makes you want to slap the developer. Mouse cannot go outside bounds of game, even in windowed mode. You have to alt-tab. I think there's a cap of towers you can place on some levels. If this is the case for a level, perhaps it's a good idea to have some sort of indicator/counter somewhere. It just stopped me from building towers with no indication of why. Balancing. I'd like to think I'm a competitive player, but in easy mode, it's kicking my rear end, up and down the street. I'd suggest a gentler learning curve on the early levels to teach the player good combinations would be a good idea. A bug stopped me from playing anymore. It started when I noticed the time counter in the victory screen on the Bonus Level being Time: -1:-39, and the soft crash when you press continue on the same menu. So kill the process, reload the screen and go to play the next level after Bonus Level called "STRING MISSING!" and then I come to a screen You are Victorious and asks me to either Retry or Next Map, but doesn't let me do either... Close the program again and never figure out how to get out of that error. I'm hoping to make my own tower defense game in Unity one day, so I can appreciate what the developer has here. It's a gem. I can only hope to make a game to this quality. Well done. At least the developer is active. I've heard that they take on feedback and fixes bugs fast. I'll come back and take another crack at it when/if that bug lets me play again.

Fun tower defence with unique and interesting tower selection. Looks and feels a bit janky, but the core gameplay is cool.

The game is a bit rough around the edges, but it's probably one of the most enjoyable tower defenses I've seen.

Seems very fun, but as of right now the Campaign does not let you go past the first level. You finish all the waves up til the last wave, which says "Victory!", but the game never actually goes to that last Victory wave, so you just sit there until you decide to quit. You can choose levels by hand rather than playing the campaign, but I would like to go in order. So until the devs see this and push out what I hope is a small fix, I'd hold off on it. Other than that issue, the game seems extremely fun, especially if you're someone who loves theorycrafting and very in depth systems in games. EDIT: The Dev fixed this issue within 1 hour and that was really my only issue with it so far. It seems extremely fun and looks like it has a whole lot of potential for hours of fun and trying new strategies. Big thumbs up from me.

Fun game - if you like TD games in general its worth giving this one a look. The pure volume of tower categories, damage categories, tower skills/auras/passives is awesome. Then add in the number of items that can provide tower buffs (each tower tower has a small inventory, think like the item shop in DOTA - the dev included suggestions tailored for each tower, which makes this much more navigable). Then add in that each enemy color takes different amounts of dmg from different dmg types, and some are invisible or only take damage from magic attacks. All of the above makes for some great mixing and matching and adds good replay value. It also makes for some spectacularly failed efforts at first when you're trying to find your feet. The only in-game tool I kind of wish I had was some way to toggle a tower's behavior to prioritize bosses or medic-bot-things with their auto-casting skills or their auto attack. If this is already in game then I'm just blind but I haven't stumbled into finding it so far. Some kind of FAQ stickied in discussions might help new players that are searching for answers to some of the things that wipe them (I know some of this is covered over the first few single player levels but an easy place to look stuff up is nice when you haven't played for a while or fail to pay attention): Options to counter invisible enemies? (certain items that effect only the tower they are equiped on or that antenna tower from Lightning...not sure of other options) Options for countering ethereal? (still not clear on what exactly qualifies as magic damage but my working theory is that any triggered skill that consumes mana is "magic"...I have gotten wrecked a lot though so this could be very false info) How do you make your crowd clearing towers really sing? (at first try, some of these crowd clear towers seem weaker than others) Good boss counter options? (the dev answered a discussion post about this question and posted some good stuff) Do multiple of the same type of slowing towers stack? Do different types of slowing towers stack? What the F is BAT versus Attack Speed? When you make a MP lobby and play any map in there are the maps balanced based on the max number of players that you set, or are they balanced based on a certain expected number of people? Might also be helpful to get some starter suggestions on tower type combinations (Dark + Light, or Fire + Wind...or whatever general ideas work to start with). Nothing crazy in-depth but some basic ideas might help people explore various routes they would otherwise not think of. To the dev, thank you for putting the time and effort into this to make it both enjoyable and stable. So many games even from big studios pop BSOD lately, so even though this is a smaller game the lack of crashing is really appreciated.

The shop, which the game is heavily reliant upon, is an utter mess with bad explanations and a mediocre UI. Clean that up and maybe the game would be much better rated. As is, it is a Tower Defense game that is trying to do a bit too much with too poor of a presentation to make it all work.

Thumbs up for active developer, but... Disclaimer: I want to be very clear that I'm not saying the game is bad. I think it's pretty neat, that's why I have some hours logged- but this has truly been my subjective experience so far: there's a severe learning curve, but no real guidance. Hah! Now I can deal with those Invisible waves. OK! Now I can deal with those Ethereal waves. OK! You have to build both every map! Now things will be- OK!!! Now I have anti-Invis/Ethereal/Divine so- OK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 0 gold left but I have at least something to counter all those- O!!!!!!!! K!!!!!!!!! Now I have defended against literally everyth- Sigh.

Picked up this game and while Tower Defense games aren't a genre I am familiar with, I still had a good time. It's a great game to come back to, a lot of fun playing multiplayer (if you have a friend to play with) and it's clear the developers put a lot of work into it. I was surprised at how feature complete the game was (it even includes a level editor). There's a lot of potential here for the game to grow and I look forward to seeing what they plan on adding to it. My only criticisms are minor. The UI for the main menu looks very stock and it's difficult to read some of the smaller text (but I believe there's an option in game to scale this up). Rounds never break, so it's difficult to keep up the pace, but this can be remedied by playing with a friend and splitting your focus between tower building and upgrading. If you're a fan of MOBAs and/or Tower Defense game, and are looking for something different, Order of the Gatekeepers is definitely worth checking out.
