Pretty decent platformer with surprisingly fun bosses and enjoyable sonic-like movement. You'll probably like this game a fair bit if you enjoy oldschool platformers but I do have some gripes.
The heart palaces are oddly huge difficulty spikes although I'd say an enjoyable challenge they seem too overtuned compared to the rest of the game, although this isnt a problem unique to these stages as theres a few other odd difficulty bumps. I will say though the third heart palace I didn't find fun as it was riddled with these bouncy balls that erratically toss you about which feels very rng and frustrating; something not ideal for a level that demands speed and precision.
Furthermore, the reward for the heart palaces is.... underwhelming for the effort you put in. You get more HP slots however when you respawn you still spawn in with 1 HP... making it pointless in most scenarios you'd want it. This segues into my gripes about the HP system as a whole. Its an oddly confused system in execution even if I like the idea, as you are rewarded for not getting hit... with being able to get hit, which means you probably dont need the extra HP. This makes a lot of boss fights a tad more punishing than they maybe ought to be as your forced into basically needing to no-hit or two-hit the boss. I think a fair change would to let the heart palaces not only give you an extra heart container but also an extra starting heart, making them much more useful and feel worth the challenge for more casual players.
Other than that, the only other issue I have is the hitboxes are at times... questionable, particularly on some bosses like the ghost one or the final boss. Despite that and overall its still quite a fun game with some great levels and a pretty polished experience; I don't regret my time at all but I wouldn't say its anything anyone MUST play. Buy if youre really into platformers like me.
