To start off I love the Saints Row series of games. The silly the serious and the outright weird parts of the games made me love the series.
But for this game? It's Meh. It's not the worse game I played and its no where near the best.
There were aspects of this game that I loved. I did enjoy alot of the side jobs and I enjoy a good chunk of the weapons. This to me feels like it could of been something good if it wasn't riddled with bugs.
I'm not sure about other players but I have this issue where if the game is open to long the audio freaks the heck out. Its like the sound files get corrupted? I verified files and changed from direct x 12 to 11 and it still does it. I have not tried vulcan.
The characters to me feel like they were decent characters for this series but its just with most of the other complaints I feel like they were trying to be to oddly nice about certain things? There were parts of the story where the characters would get into the feel of actual saints row characters. But it is what is.
Weapons? welp lets just say you can get through the whole game with like 3 to 4 weapons tops and not exchange them out. Just upgrade the 4 weapons and unlock the Challenge feature and bam. You're good for the rest of the game (i believe they are all starting weapons to).
No need much for driving around when you can just unlock the wing suit and that one gun that drags you into the air with the dumbbell thing.
Story: Not horrible could of been better. Not the worse story i gone through but not the best. Just ehh...
Map: Map looks cool. Just hate all the hidden collectables.... that was one thing i do miss from like saints row 3 and 4 was unlocking an upgrade to get the location of all the collectables or "discoveries" in this game's case.
Again not the worse game i played but not the best.
Honestly if you wanna play it then play it and have fun.
But for me this game is a solid 4/10 Johnny Gats.

Pros: Graphics are good, Large Map, Customization is great, and Keyblade.
Cons: Open World with not a lot to do, Character personality's are horrible (The cat is the only exemption), Short story (Not very good writing to add), Humor is non-existent or trys to hard (So many waffle Jokes), Spongy enemies, Healing and finisher mechanics are bad, and Drifting / Ramming could have been done better.
Would have been a good game if Deep silver / Embracer Group didn't interfere with the devs original plans. Volition was a casualty in this mess.
I don't know why people are upset with the Larping. It is cringy but it's more entertaining then the main story.
Buy at steep discount or don't buy at all.

honestly an enjoyable game with a good story and relatively fun gameplay, the three characters are okay kinda feels like you're forced to like them but they're not horrible, and overall doesn't deserve as much hate as its got, it just deserves a little hate. I also love the wingsuit mechanic even if it makes no sense im not gonna complain. So really its a solid game. However, i do honestly hope they make nothing like this again because it is definetly not saints row, its kind of almost maybe a bit saints row in some areas. If they just continued on from saints row 4 i think everyone would be happy.

just so fucking BLAND: seriously, the issue with the game isn't the fact that it is "Woke"- which honestly shouldn't be anyone's first fucking concern when playing a game ("durrr, game woke = bad" mentality is stupid and prove me wrong), but if the game CAPTURES your attention, or has you hooked within AT LEAST an hour or two within game play. People are not going to be playing any game for that long to get to any "good bits", which is what happened in my case: I lost interest. By no means is the game exactly BAD, in fact its game play is actually not bad- but there's just so many small details that mess the game up for me: boring characters, goofy "vibes" (the first two in the series had some comedy- but were down to earth which imo suited the series best- but SR3 at least was FUN, that game got it right, SR4 was too goofy, and that ruined that game) but the game isn't GOOD either: now im aware people have their own ideas of whats "good" or "bad", so if you ARE reading this: DON'T USE THIS REVIEW AS GUIDANCE. Play the game first, figure out if it will be a game worth the money or time to have enough fun (in other words be "serviceable") and go from there. My review, nor anyone else's, shouldn't be forming on what you think the game objectively is. I'm simply warning people to NOT spend hours in the game, and try to form what they think within two hours minimum. It took me 50 minutes to realise it wasn't my type of game, simply because it just wasn't FUN to me specifically. And that's the games main issue here: its just unoriginal more or less, and the beginning, and the apparent grind almost immediately sort of forced onto you if you want even ANY skills is just stupid. Respect is basically non-existent in this game, meaning you can't just preform well, and do some side jobs or main story missions to get what you want, you MUST play the side hustles to even get anything remotely "fun", which are locked behind that take down mechanic (an unoriginal one too might I add- a very reoccurring theme in this game if you play it), and it just feels like a slog. Overall- the game is one of those games where you have to have patience to get something out of it, plus I feel that this reboot betrays its roots, not because its "Woke" as some people describe it (politics and basic human rights don't fucking matter in video games because... they're meant to be FUN?!), but rather it just doesn't FEEL like a proper saint's row... it has the branding, and other stuff, but ultimately is just a nothing-burger through and through. I wouldn't recommend it based off this alone, but PLEASE at least try the game, it really isn't that bad, and I'm happy to say that there aren't game breaking issues when I bought it (sort of the same situation as cyberpunk really), but its a bit of a gamble if you purchase this or not. Just please DO NOT go over that 2 hour limit on the refunds, it really isn't worth £26.

I had fun with a lot of the missions. People saying it's sitcomy are kind of right, it was fun listening to them ramble non-gibberish.

I really loved Saints Row 3 and 4 and even going into the Saint's Row reboot with low expecations left me more than disappointed.
I can live with the weird gameplay choices and also the not very well received characters but besides that, the game is just broken and shouldn't be up for sale. The whole audio in this game doesn't work properly - being it sound effects not playing or just horribly mixed or just being straight up bad. It is just not fun at all and should officially be erased from the franchise.

Not as horrible as many seem to believe, but not a great game either.
The SR series has been a bit "rinse and repeat" for awhile now (just a collection of side activities and challenges to repeat, with the same flavour of comedy throughout, and fairly basic missions to string it together), but if you really enjoy the other games in the series, there isn't really any reason you wouldn't enjoy this one.
The only possibly "game breaking" issues I encountered were:
Some collectables seem to disappear at times, but a reload or travelling to another area seemed to fix it.
DX12 mode seems to become unstable if there's too much going on, and it will crash your graphics card. This happens even on a decent machine, but seems to stop when using DX11.
