Way too buggy if you play online and want to make a custom map. Nothing really works in multiplayer.

Yag is a beautiful alternative Virtual Tabletop to play your favorite roleplaying games. Always in development, YAG has a great potential.

I use this program as a virtual gameboard for a live gaming group, displaying on the TV. It is such a great tool!

Still the best, most user friendly world builder. I tried the ones recently released on Steam and none compare to the versatility and ease of use. It's basically an engine on rails- which is a good thing. People don't want to have to study the equivalent of a college course just to engage in what it supposed to be a hobby - we end up doing so but, it comes organically, over time.

An outstanding entry into VTT. Easily create dungeons for your groups to play in. These dungeons are beautiful, but can be a bit sparse i'm afraid. Also, very easy to create board games with importing 2D textures onto 3D primitives. Tons of animated pawns/entities to add to your creation. As one reviewer mentioned, the UI "cluttered" and it would be difficult to run a game with it on the screen. All the included 3D pawns/entities are geared toward a "medieval" rpg like standard 5e or Pathfinder. One thing I love so far is that the developer adds a bit to it every week or two, so it seems to have great potential.

This is legitimately one of the most advanced and yet accessible world creators out there! The possibilities are endless and for once thats an honest statement! Thousands of characters, Thousands of Monsters/Creatures, perhaps hundreds of terrains, and hundreds of dungeons which can be used right out of the box to with a few button clicks can make a great looking and enrapturing scene. in literally 1 minute you can have a good looking village or dungeon or ruins or castle or whatever, in whatever terrain you want. Add another 2 minutes and you can have your characters and some monsters. Goblin's riding spiders CHECK, Steam Punk Dude with a sweet ship or antique type car CHECK, Cowboy saddled up next to a TRex YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! This thing is really well made and the developer is a really nice guy that actually cares about this thing and about making it the best thing he can make it! He even takes improvement suggestions from people and implements them! Can not recommend more highly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10 out of 10!!!!

This program works a bit differently than most but there are superb tutorials, so take a look at the first two to get started. Once you have learned the basics it is fast and easy to get villages, dungeons, and landscapes going. What I miss completely is a New-button. I had messed around back and forth and got myself a pawn under the landscape and I could not remove it because it was attached to me in a way I had not learned yet. I just wanted to start over and had to delete the autosaves to get there. That feels clumsy. I also wish there were more pawns not meant for fighting. My games are not centered around that. I will definitely go through the whole tutorial and learn every aspect of this. I know I will find it useful.

I'm a veteran tabletop role playing gamer and VTT user. I have run and played a lot of games and used a lot of what's popular out there for a VTT solution. Please take this into account when I say that for scene building and immersion, this tool excels above those others. But...it does take some dedicated time invested up-front to establish your settings as you'd like, watch through all the many tutorials out there, from getting started to more complex options during scene building as you go, and creating your own initial content. As you go though and get more proficient, this goes faster and faster. During my game sessions, I can now generate a random 256 x 256 meter zone of whatever terrain type, composite, and foliage I want, put the party members where I want them, and add something for them to "encounter" in about as much time as it would take me to go grab all my preset maps, tokens, and props at the game table back when we had the luxury to all be together in person! It also helps a ton with 3D/Z-axis situations, like flying characters, cliff elevation, or declines in dungeons or carvernous delves. Players can join your session with their own copy of Yag and the game master can assign them their pawns to control. This solution does not have its own sound or voice comms so be prepared to use another option for that, (like Voicemeeter + Virtual Audio Cables + Voicemod + Web Audio + Discord for example which is what I do).

Hmmm...after an hour of testing - didn't actually achieve anything worthy of note (or see any of the content seen in the videos). The demo videos make it look amazing and quick/easy to create and popoulate detailed maps with animated/equipped characters. Looks like a dream come true - in reality, it's far from it. After following the help-guide, I was left randomly clicking through the un-intuitive UI filled with empty windows (or windows with obscure options which didn't seem to do anything when I toggled them on/off). The eye-catching automation seen in the videos is pretty much none-existent and generating maps will leave you feeling underwhelmed. It's possible that with more time invested into learning the UI, I could create something with it but I may as well invest the time learning UnrealEngine and make the content there for myself. Feels a bit mis-sold to be honest. No disrespect for the work which has gone into it - but the UI definitely needs a major overhaul otherwise people wont actually ever get to see what's under the hood. The text (for example) is unread-ably tiny.
