Normally? I would recommend this game, but a lot of the players are real salty and stingy with their weapon roles and all that other stuff. To hell with this game if the community is going to act like this. Just go play Hell Let Loose or Red Orchestra 2.

Ever since they added all the new features for the pacific update that first release, this game has ran much much slower, and the game takes a while for the main menu to load up. Could just be my PC, but it's no longer working in my favor.

Better than Hell Let Loose? Yes! After playing HLL for 100 hours and Squad 44 for 150, I can with confidence say that SQ44 is by far the superior WW2 Milsim. There are things in Squad 44 you just don't get in HLL. However: The Good: - Sq44 has everything unlocked from the get go, no need to grind up to LVL X in a certain role to unlock the flamethrower or repair wrench like in HLL. If you want the light mortar, flamethrower or scoped rifle, you can, as long as the spot in your squad is available. - More variety in maps, gamemodes and map layers. - By far the best tanking simulation in a large pvp milsim. Driving and gunning are way more like their real counterparts compared to HLL. You also get to choose what you'd like to take out on the battlefield, unlike HLL where you have to nag the commander constantly to get a tank. - Medics are useful, you can actually consistently heal and revive people around you and due to the ticket system, you want to prevent deaths from happening. Unlike HLL where people might as well give up and respawn. - Logistics system is actually crucial, there's a dedicated logisitics crew that's responsible for delivering building supplies, building spawning tents, placing AT guns, repair emplacements for vehicles and so on. The Bad: - SQ44 has two major issue, the first is the limited playerbase. SQ44 doesn't have the resources and backing that HLL has and fails attract players. This means that there's usually 2-3 full 100 player servers and that's it. This can make it difficult for players that are late to the party, to find an available slot because the servers are either completely at capacity or empty. - Performance is very unstable and system requirements are in my opinion too demanding for the experience. It's by no means an ugly game, but it can run so poorly at times and that is the one thing I have to give HLL praise for. The Ugly: - The player base is a mixed bag, I've met some great communicative people I can play whole evenings with but sadly milsims also tend to attract a lot of armchair generals. These self-proclaimed flawless master tacticians can at times ruin the game for everyone, constantly yapping and polluting the voice channels with foul language and unending whining. Is communication and cooperative play important? Yes, it's not Battlefield, but it's still a game, people make mistakes and overall just want to enjoy the experience. You win some, you lose some.

I stopped playing not long after the game was released due to the absence of low ping servers. Now, there are more low ping servers available, but they are either always full or completely empty. I never got to fully experience the game.

The fact that a PC with GPU and CPU specs that are WELL above recommended (5060, AMD Ryzen 7 9700x) with 16 GB of RAM (still above minimum specs for RAM) can't even load into the fucking FIRING RANGE on low settings is enough to say how poorly performing this game is, especially for its size. With how poorly optimized this game is, it should not be allowed to be on the store, let alone sold.

Although I hate the PVP aspect of these games, I do enjoy the squad/co-op part of it; especially WWII and multi-crew tanks. The problem is with games like this, you HAVE to be part of a *clan* to play otherwise squads are locked. The elitism that goes on in the discord channels just for asking a question "Other than recruiting, is there a '#look-for-group' room I'm missing?" makes it very unappetizing to want to play this game with the attitude of the player-base. My 29 hours of playtime isn't playing multiplayer, it's practicing learning the tanks.

My go-to WW2 FPS game for the past half-decade. Despite it's many ups and downs, I always find myself coming back. I've yet to come across another game in the genre that can keep me in the same way SQ44 (and Post Scriptum before it) has. Especially in regards to the armour game-loop, there is nothing more satisfying than overcoming an opposing tank crew alongside some of your friends. The latest updates, while diverging in my preferred game-play style, have also finally squashed the crippling FPS bugs that have plagued this game since it first released. Would recommend hands down to anyone looking for a more historically accurate and realistic tactical shooter compared to it's competitors like HLL or Enlisted. Now is one of the best times to pick it up.

a great game all in all, but holy fuck, having to redownload the ENTIRE FUCKING GAME, whenever the devs decide to add a new gun is so fucking tedious. if you don't have 100+ gigs free on your PC, you won't be able to play and update this game regularly.

I once loved this game called Post Scriptum and used to play it a lot, hence the 1k hours I sank into it. But in the current State it is just unplayable. There is a multitude of Bugs like hearing Engine noises everywhere on the map as if they are right next to me or not hearing gunfire and explosions at all. Additionally, the performance dropped significantly to low fps and frequent stutters. The worst thing for me is that the severity and number of problems I ran into in a single match didn’t occur to me in hundreds of hours playing Post Scriptum. To me it seems that the players with lots of experience and an interest in good high level teamplay have disappeared. I just recently had a match where the squad leader was a member of the Clan hosting the Server but still didn’t bother to lead or at least communicate with his Squad. This decline in the community is fatal for a game where teamplay and good leadership is the key of having fun. And instead of Offworld trying to get these people back they only use the old Squad strategy of making a free weekend which floods the Servers with guys having no idea what they are doing and giving the experienced players only the chance to lock themselves into private groups or quit playing until the flood has stopped. Adding to the bad shape of the community is that when someone dared to state this fact he got immediately attacked verbally by the loyal Zealots of Squad44. Besides the Bugs, Offworld also managed, under the premise of fixing Spaghetti Code, to strip Post Scriptum of most of the things that made it unique. It had, other than Squad, a free building System making the logistic squads extremely capable in offense and defense, but they needed to fix that and implement the system from Squad. They also felt the need to implement the suppression system from Squad(which decides to work on the premise of how it could annoy you the most), removed the timer form the Rally Points (I know they are called Regroup Calls, but I have yet to find someone calling them by that name) making the Radioman nearly obsolete. And in general, they seemed to just Squadify the game wherever possible without thinking about the consequences. Like the time when they removed the MSPs or increased the player cap for Servers without them being able to handle it, which still results in bad hit registration for infantry weapons. They also kept introducing more uncommon vehicles like the Jagdtiger to the game, while the charm of Post Scriptum was that it felt like two regular units were fighting against each other with Shermans and Cromwells against Panzer 3 and 4s. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went ahead and added a Maus in the future. I am shaken to say it, but this game is nothing like the game I once loved and with Offworld at the helm, I fear that they will only add new shiny ‘content’ instead of fixing the bugs, improving the performance and making the gameplay loop fun again. It seems to me that Post Scriptum is dead and Squad44 has killed it only to use its soulless husk to milk the WW2 enjoyers. So I can only say thank you Offworld for not just killing one but two games that I used to love.

Heard about bad performance but bought anyway to show interest and keep this game from dying. The discord shows the devs ARE working on it. Like really. The Pacific maps are a bit laggy, but the others play fairly well on my 3060 ti and i7-12700F with 32GB of ram (70+ FPS with DLSS on). SSD is a must for loading times. Game itself is super fun. I like Squad and Hell Let Loose, but Squad is too much of a time suck and hard to get into after not playing for a while, and Hell Let Loose turns into a meat grinder. Squad 44 has one objective at a time and fairly simple mechanics, making it much easier to get into. If you find a good squad that chats its a blast. Additionally, lives count toward tickets, meaning players guard their lives more and this makes it more realistic and less of a meat grinder. Very happy with where this game is going and I am excited for the next performance update the devs are talking about. Would recommend picking this up, especially for future goals, but it stands enough on its own NOW to be playable and fun.
