It turns out "mash-up of side-scrolling gameplay styles" and "endless procedurally generated levels" actually mean "mobile store runner/flappy bird clone". I was drawn in by the admittedly great 8-bit art style but all the "levels" look the same so the appeal quickly wears off. The product description touts "high score tracking" as a feature but there is no online leaderboard so that just means it saves your high score lol.
For such a fast paced game, its annoying how slow the game over screen is. You have to wait for the points to tally up even though they are already recorded at the top of the screen. Since there are no additional bonus points gained for things like time survived or highest combo or something this tally up at the end is a complete waste of time and cannot be skipped.
The screen shake effect has been used to death here. Not only is it used for successfully hitting enemies, but also for jumping which you are doing a lot of. Makes playing the game for any extended time a real eyesore. Judging by the time played on most of the other reviews of this game, they also didn't stick around for long.
There are no options for changing the keybindings or adjusting the volume of sound effects and music. This is a pretty basic feature to not include.
Since it seems like I have covered every facet of this small game I can say I do not recommend it.

This game is a real rush- it gives a similar high to One Finger Death Punch. You'll forget your keyboard is even there~ The best iteration on flappy bird! Also, I have been a following the composer here for a while and the soundtrack is on par! I just wish I could turn down the effects so I could enjoy it more.
I'm not the biggest fan of the visual execution, however I love psuedo-horror and there is plenty of flair here, from the bloody menu options that loom once selected, or the breif cutscenes when you've unlocked a new upgrade. Hey, for a couple of bucks that you might have stored in your Steam Wallet already (as I had) this is a pretty safe bet for those who like testing their reflexes!

I listen to the OST of some old freeware game called 8-Bit Killer once a month. It's an emotional journey... even if I was never a fan of that game. Anyway, I Finally decided to see what else composer Rushjet1 has been up to-- and apparently I've been following them for a while. They worked on the excellent Creepy Castle OST, and are also responsible for the... questionably necessary... famiitrack remixes of Cave Story plus on Switch.
I tried out a few of the official releases he's been associated with (he seems to keep his mojo by remixing a lot of things) and this is the most exceptional one. I am really not a fan of NICALiS (feel free to inquire), so it says something that I haven't decided to get this game refunded and JUST pay extra for the album.

Quick short game. Probably best to to get it on a sale where is cheap. Gameplay is simple and has 5 modes to choose from and you can 100% it in around an 1hr or 2 depending on your skill.

Easily one of the best games in my library. Just a few dollars and well worth it many times over. The people complaining about this game have either never played endless runners or don't understand the concept as a genre. This is a combat-based arcade game at its heart and needs to be respected as such. Everything about this game screams style. It looks, sounds, and plays perfect. Final thoughts... controller recommended. Enjoy this BEAST of a game and thank me later.

Fantastic endless runner. A smorgasbord of fun modes . . . but I hundred-percented the game, and the final achievement is bugged! Fix it already!

This game is absolutely fun! A masterpiece, I can't reach the 100.000 score yet but I won't give up! I love the graphic and the music. Happy gaming!

Fun little runner from Freak Zone Games (AVGN games, MANOS) and Nicalis (Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Cave Story+, etc)
PROS:
The soundtrack by RushJet1 is great. This is hardly surprising.
Gameplay. The runner/combat formula works really well here. Pretty intense. I'm enjoying it so far, and I haven't even unlocked every game mode.
Art style. I'll admit that the art looked kind of meh at first (so. much. dithering!) but once you're in the game, it actually works. Matches the intensity of the gameplay.
CONS:
I don't see an option to rebind keys. Using L-Shift and R-Shift works well enough on keyboard, but the keys are bound to L and R bumpers on my gamepad, which I don't care for so much.
VERDICT: Well worth $3
