Roguebreaker Reviews
A roguelike twist on Breakout, just like you remember with a thick coat of 80s slathered on top. It's fast, it's juicy, it's vapourwave, it's small, it's Roguebreaker! How many bricks will you break in this arcade game?

Although I enjoyed trying this out, there are some key things stopping me from recommending it. The idea is interesting, but the blocks spawn so low that sometimes there's a level where you can just instantly lose, and there's not much you can do. Additionally, you have very little control of the ball, so when there's only one brick left it becomes extremely tedious. I do think it could be a good game, but it needs better execution.

I saw this on r/steamdeals, and decided to give it a try. It's a pretty good game.
It looks very pretty, though most of my favourite colours are just different forms of pink, purple, and blue, so I may be biased.
It plays like Breakout. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just a slight spin on the game you already (hopefully) know. The main difference is that this has upgrades that you can get after each level. They aren't anything too interesting or game-changing, but they're nice to have. You can start with an extra ball, have a bigger paddle, get more points in exchange for having a speedier ball, etc. I just sort of wish the game went past the typical 8 rounds, even if it would mean repeating stages. Speaking of, there's a stage maker. It works, and is simple enough for almost anybody to pick up and use (though I still don't know what the "R" things do).
It sounds good. The music may get tiring after a while, though.
Overall, it's (as of writing this) on sale for 99 cents, so it's a no-brainer.
Miscellaneous (probably spelled that wrong) Note: From what I've seen, the creator seems to be a pretty genuine and good person. so that only helps my recommendation.

Had an issue with slowdown effect, but after speaking to dev, they added an option to remove it. Now the game is perfect. fast, and reminds me of growing up playing these type of games.
def a must buy for lovers of brick breakers.

The concept and visuals are appealing at first but it's not very fun to play. The first stage drags because you have no power ups, and from the very beginning, some bricks take several hits to break. The ball moves slowly when you start a new game, too. Each round you clear, you can choose between different random power ups like two paddles. But these don't seem very balanced, because I chose one that said pickups would more frequently include multi-ball powerups but I didn't even get any pickups in the first place. In a game like Arkanoid, you're constantly getting interesting power ups to drop, but Rougebreaker doesn't really have that because I guess it needed to wait for the end of the level.
The difficulty ramps up quickly which means you'll likely run out of lives and have to play the tedious first stage with no powerups again. There's really not much to the game.

The physics are just not up to par. There's a lack of fine-tune control and the movements are strange. Even the roguelike aspect is underwhelming. Not that it would save things, but everything else is in rough shape as well.

Mechanically is pretty good! Well made level design and ramping difficulty. Could use a hand in UX though.
I would really like to see a remake or expansion.

This is a decent brick breaker game. Nice and juicy. It has a built-in level editor - I always appreciate that sort of thing. The brick types are less distinguishable than I'd like, but that's the biggest negative.
Anyway... here's a place where you can play Rogue online:

Yes, that's the same "Rogue" that "Roguelikes" are supposed to be, uh, like.
You may notice, after you get over the early-80s "graphics," that Rogue is not in fact very much like this game at all. Nor is it very much like Slay the Spire, or Inscryption, or whatever the heck else people insist on tagging as "roguelike" these days. Do people call Balatro a roguelike? I bet they do. I bet people call a ham sandwich a roguelike.
This is a pity, because there are some very good *actual* roguelikes on Steam - and it is increasingly impossible to find them amongst the "roguelikes." They're there if you dig enough. I liked Dungeons of Dredmor and Sword of the Stars: The Pit.
But none of that has anything to do with this game beyond its title and description. It's a solid game. I'm giving it a thumbs-up. I just wish it had titled itself differently. (I wish that of most games with "Rogue" in the title anymore.)

This is a my favourite game for relaxing and taking a break. The art is beautiful, and the gameplay is easy to understand but allows for skilled play. I would highly recommend picking it up.

I like the idea of rogue-like-izing arcanoid & the looks of this vaporware-styled thing, but:
1. it's very low on content (both levels & perks)
2. rebound physics feels strange, not much control over it
3. while sounds volume is extra low, music is high - the game doesn't memorize these settings
All-in-all it's an ok small game.

This is an Arkanoid-like game on steroids, with crazy powerups, randomly selected levels, multiball, perks, synergies and Steam leaderboards. The higher your score the faster the ball, so get ready for crazy action. Also, you can create your own level and download extra levels from the Workshop. Roguebreaker is a good (and fun) timekiller.
Pros:
* Fast and furious gameplay
* Creative powerups
* High replay value
* Detailed in-game stats page
* Level editor and Steam Workshop support
* Global, local and friends leaderboards
* Four game modes (three of them are unlockables)
* Cumulative perks (you choose one between two perks with every level beaten)
Cons:
* [strike]The soundtrack is basically one music track playing on loop[/strike]
Edit: the dev added more music :)
