It's short and cute. It's basically a quick point-and-clicker fix and a bunch of achievements you can get done quickly, but it's not a hackjob. Seems to be a pilot pitch for a series of games that never materialized rather than a quick hackjob, which is easy to appreciate. It's not the greatest point-and-clicker in the universe, but for what it's worth, I can't say I regretted getting it.

As a fan of other products of ExperaGames (Tale of Caos), I was looking forward to this game, to see a little more of Cassandra and Caos away from the hijinx of Terry and Heimlich. This is very much in keeping with the general style and mood of Caos-based games and was a nice, if short addition. Pros-and-cons below.
+A cute story with engaging characters, who I imagine (hope) will appear in other titles. This made a nice introduction to these characters.
+Nostalgic graphics that clearly harkened back to the days of LucasArts and Sierra.
+Straight-forward gameplay and puzzle system; this game was very straight-forward and the puzzles were logical.
+Easter eggs to their other series helped flesh out the world of Caos, making it feel well-populated and interesting.
+Simplified controls. Tbh I really missed all of Terry's gadgets, but for the simple game that this was I understand...further, there was little, if any, learning curve to pick up the controls.
+Low price.
-As the game largely takes place underground, the visuals are not particularly attractive.
-Too short...as I mentioned above, I imagine this game will only be the prelude to a larger Cassandra-related title, but I just felt like I was getting into it when it ended.
General conclusion: I would recommend this, especially at this price...and especially if you're a fan of other games by this publisher. However, for those who don't know A Tale of Caos, or who aren't fans of old-school point-and-click games, I'm not sure if there will be the same appeal.

Fun little project, can be beaten in a few hours, but I enjoyed the nostalgia and the writing is pretty good imo, reminds me of a mix between disney and contemporary fantasy writing. A fun little game, that you can fill gaps in a day with for a few hours and come a way feeling accomplished and have fun amusing things to think about, recommended. Hope to see more from this little studio they got some nice ideas.

Rogue Quest seemed like something that might be along the lines of Quest for Glory, King's Quest or even Money Island... had it been longer indeed it probably would have been.
Unfortunately it plays in about 1 hour. that ends up being about $4/hour of play. That's kind of high for my taste. This game is pretty short. It feels more like an introduction or first chapter of an adventure game. It doesn't however, appear to be part of a larger series of games or chapters. I really wish it were though as I see a lot of potential for the game. It could really be fleshed out into a much larger story with this just being the opening. If you can get it when there's a steam sale for $1 or less it would be a good purchase for an hours worth of entertainment but you will feel like it's cut short.
Visually the game is very nice for a 90's retro style graphic. The animations are nice (although when the main character stands with her back to you, she looks like she's doing some really weird heaving movement) and pretty smooth. It does do some closeups that I don't like because instead of making them all at the right pixel size they just zoom in so it looks more pixelated and poorer quality. Most of the time though, it does not zoom so it looks fine.
The sound is alright. The background music sounds adventure-ish. There are no recorded voices but it's not a huge drawback. It does mean you have to read the text dialogues. I believe the game is Italian and was perhaps translated from that to English. This does come through in some awkward wordings a few times in the game but most of it was well translated. The writing was not the best writing I've ever experienced in a game but it was actually better than many of the other games I've come across. The characters are interesting but we don't get to know enough about them to really give them much of a bakground. Again I see alot of potential for a much larger game out of this. I must admit that I did really enjoy having a character that shared my name especially since I often play rogue type characters so the character and premise of the story are right up my alley.
The interface is pretty simple to understand and use. There's an inventory along the bottom a menu button (for saves and options) and a help button (hints? I'm not sure I didn't press it). There are arrows that show when you can go to another screen, hotspots will trigger the mouse to change and label the spot when you mouse-over it. You can also press spacebar to highlight all the available hot spots in the area.
The puzzles are not very hard, they are highly logical and if you are following the story and exhausting dialogue options you will find all the hints you need to solve all of them. A few items will need to be combined in your inventory. I don't think anyone would need a walkthrough for this game even to get all of the achievements. Most of the achievements are unmissable but would be easy enough to play through a second time (which would probably take much less time) to get them. There's only 7 and they don't feel like you've achieved much since they are so easy to get just by naturally playing through.
Overall, if you can get it on sale and have an hour to kill plus you enjoy retro style point & click adventure games you'd probably enjoy this.

It took me 53 minutes to 100% the game without looking at any guides.
Nice classic point and click. The slow walking and the inability to pan the camera around would be annoying if the game wasn't so short, with only 6 different rooms.
53 minutes of playime may be too little even for 5 euros, but I got it for 1,99 on sale and I'm fairly satisfied. Recommended.

This is one of those rare times where I was actually glad the game did not have trading cards. 5 dollars full price is WAY to much. I feel like I just played a demo. It was like a concept for a game more than a game to me. Just enough to sell a product, like I bought an add. I am just glad it had simple achievements and I got it for $0.49 cents at 90 percent off at the time of the steam christmas sale.
If this was trying to pull me in, all it succeeded in doing was very lightly tapping me on the shoulder.

A boring setup, which draws far too heavily from other games, backed up by some boring puzzles turned me off this very early. It just feels bad and lacking, as if the devs felt that the mechanical motions of these games enough are to keep you invested alone.
P&CAG devs like these really need to start studying The Secret of Monkey Island. There you land on a wondrous island, are laced with good humour constantly, and are given room to explore and solve various puzzles. Here you're given a confined space with linear puzzles, really poor attempts at humour, and the complete opposite of a good hook. Not for me.

I bought Rogue Quest awhile back on a Steam sale for less than the $3.99 price tag and forgot what my original interest was to compare my experience with. I have not played ExperaGameStudio's other game that a previous reviewer mentioned, so maybe the original developer intent was to play both.
If this was the case though, I'd rather see it marked as a $1.99 DLC in a bigger game that featured the world elements I was actually curious about. For me, Rogue Quest started off a little too far into the main character's journey, and stopped too soon to satisfy the short time I spent journeying with her. I got the idea of what her world was like outside of the Vault of the Lost Tyrant, but the exposition didn't have a later payoff and just fell flat because of it.
This wasn't a terrible game and if there was a middle button I'd have chosen it instead. But ultimately, if I look at cost to entertainment value, this wasn't worth the hour of my time it took to finish the game, and it left me wanting more but not in a good way.

[b] Rogue Quest: The Vault of the Lost Tyrant [/b] largely relies on nostalgia for retro adventure games such as those made by LucasArts. Considering that I am the ideal audience for this game, I found it a little disappointing. It recycled many old ideas but never gave me that heartwarming experience that many games in this genre are capable of. When it comes point&click games, I look for originality, beautiful backgrounds and enjoyable dialogue that I did not find in this title. Rogue Quest ended very quickly not giving me time to invest myself.
The dialogue was spoon feeding me the entire time with obvious hints and exposition. Pirates that acted as comedic relief were not all that funny. Our main character did not get much development, or any good traits other than a stereotypical rogue female. Overall I found the writing for this game rather forceful. All of the puzzles were easy and kind of dumb (like I know what I have to do but it makes no sense). Some of them are just reused ideas from older games. Seriously, stop with the ring puzzles I have done like 30 of them. I never felt rewarded for finding a solution. The game does have a highlighter for interactable areas which I do appreciate.
When it comes to background scenery this game might have to the lowest effort in the genre. There are only about 7 backgrounds and they are very similar. Sure the game takes places in a cave but that is exactly why developers have to get even more creative with locations. I want to be amazed by pixel art but instead, I saw mostly green walls across the whole thing. If every room kinda looks like the room before I start to lose interest in exploring very quickly.

Roque Quest: The Vault of the Lost Tyrant mimicks classic adventure games but it does not have a worthwhile story or characters to give them justice. It is an extremely short game making it hard to invest yourself. $4 is a fair price for what you get although I would prefer to pay more for something more substantial. Pixel art for backgrounds was serviceable at best. Honestly, you can't make a more average point&click game than this.

A short, low budget point and click that has enough appeal to check out when on sale, although I wouldn't go as far as to really recommend it after writing down the following thoughts:
+ The background graphics are nice
+ The character design and animations are allright enough.
+ Some nice usage of royalty free music (as mentioned in the credits).
+ There's something interesting about the world and setting the story takes place in
- But not enough is told or exposed to get you sucked in.
- The sound effects are poor and don't really fit the game.
- The dialogues are not very strong. The funny bits lack wit or intelligence, mostly just filled in with the word 'dumb' to be done with it.
- The game is very short and straight forward. Not a lot of rooms, not a lot of objects objects of interaction. Even with as little locations as this game has there could have been more hot spots to be looked at and commented on by the main character, either adding to the lore or just for fun.
I wouldn't mind to see more of this universe, in a more fleshed out form and on a broader scale. This game felt underdevelopped and like there might be more to it, at some time and place (and probably with a bigger budget).
