I get what they were going for, but it ends up being a lot of unfun. The fellow reviews are mixed with a good reason. Only play if you feel the need to be complete for completion's sake.

I was hyped about the full game and it came to the point where I had to play this DLC. This is the most frustrating, depressing and ugly thing I have ever encountered on the Fallout NV. Unkillable sentries that can shoot you, that beeping collar, the bad map and the ending... If there is a reason why I'm delaying my next FONV gameplay, it is this DLC. F*** Sierra Madre, I'm never going back there.

Dead money is the worst, its all just a massive labyrinth that is just annoying to go thru. Plus the entire story and game play is just ''go to A then after that go to B then go back to A'' and this system sucks plus the loot is very bad compared to the other DLC's. Plus the radios isn't a fun mechanic like the devs thought its just genuinely annoying to try to find where the radio is or how to disable it.

Dead Money clashes horribly with the rest of New Vegas. On its own, it has solid ideas and immaculate atmosphere. Unfortunately, the execution doesn't land. The Sierra Madre is more annoying than it is terrifying.

I started the expansion pretty late in the game, having finished Old world Blues and Honest Hearth, and reaching level 37 before starting this expansion. Everyday I thanked myself for making this decision, for if i started on the recommended level for the DLC, I would've threw my PC off the balcony. The Bad : I hate this DLC with a burning passion, a passion to call it insult that would make me disgusted by myself. It takes all of the fun in explorations. The poison cloud was an annoying mechanic, the collar is the MOST annoying mechanic. There are numerous traps everywhere, and it's bloody dark, but you have to sneak, but there's traps, you get the point. I get that certain companion could be used for certain area or section of the DLC, but I just can't be bothered. For the love of everything that is Holy, I wish to never set upon this place again. The good : In that frustrating time, I quickly realize that i need to completely change my build. Knowing that ammo is scarce and there's ♥♥♥♥ all gun other than the 357 (which does little to the enemy even with my guns being 100 and having the cowboy perks) I realized the game FORCED you to adapt to your surrounding. You can either be a sneaky ninja or kill one of the enemy and hack and slash through the rest. I chose the latter and my God, it was the first time I used and increased melee weapon in New Vegas and it felt good. I love the DLC even with my distaste towards it because it forced you to adapt, to find a way to solve and explore like you're a level 1 courier blissfully going through quarry junction and too dense to find other ways. The story in my opinion, was interesting enough, that's because I gave enough attention to the interaction between one of the follower and Elijah in the DLC of Old World Blues. I like most of the companions, the premised, and the story of the Sierra Madre itself. It's tragic and have actual good advice. The theme is about letting go, letting go of the past. Sadly enough, after the assault on my sanity and towards my character, you would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy to think that i would let go the gold bars. Overall, a DLC with interesting set up, good story, and a sadistic and frustrating gameplay. I would suggest to start the DLC a little later than need too. In the end, I would recommend it, just, be prepared..Mentally of course.

Begin again but know when to let go..... 10/10 dlc and is probably the best in the whole game, and only takes about 4 hours of gameplay to beat if you know what you're doing. Dead Money stripes you of your belongings at the start of the dlc, it's made to be a challenge which it really isn't. Build into laser weapons/melee weapons and the dlc becomes a cakewalk. The radios might be annoying on the first time you play it but you can shoot them which disables them, I can count on one hand how many times my bomb collar has gone off 4 times and that's with upwards of 30 playthroughs of the dlc. The Police pistols found around the map allow you to one shot the ghost people and if you don't blow their heads up with the sneak attack simply go over to them and chop chop chop with a cosmic knife, Also Holorifle > Anti Mat rifle The dlc is the definition of a skill check, which is funny as I think it has the least amount of skill checks in the game but that might be honest hearts.

This is the second worst DLC for FNV a low 9 really but the ending is 10/10 the DLC really changes the way you play its a very survival focused experience you will need good sneak/lockpick builds and to be prepared for traps everywhere you walk otherwise this can be a very annoying experience. it will be a rough first playthrough be warned

Similar in goal to Fallout 3's The Pitt DLC in the fact that is has survival horror elements, yet I feel Dead Money nails it and definitely outperforms Fo3's DLCs. And while it was quite controversial for having less RPG elements and being a "slog" at times. I think it aged pretty well and in one of the best DLC questlines in the game purely because of the story and characters. Fallout New Vegas' DLCs are great because they actually tell new stories with minimal rehashing. It is a shining example of what a "DLC Expansion" should be for a game.

This is by far my favorite DLC content for any game of all time, the writing is fantastic, the vibe is immaculate. I really get vibes of liminal spaces and The Shining with this DLC. The horror vibe is so incredible and pairs extremely well with New Vegas' darker themes that go generally unexplored in favor of the humor but this DLC takes that horror to it's heights and is a great addition to this wonderful game

I don't know if it's a skill issue or the game feeling like hot ass, but Dead Money is one of the biggest slogs I've ever gone through in an RPG, ever. The quests feel unintuitive and the enemies getting back up feels more frustrating than feeling like a cool gimmick.
