Where do I start here? Well, first of all, it would be a good idea to ask you a question: have you ever heard about mockumentary? I guess, you had. It’s really entertaining genre, which tries to be a documentary, but everyone knows it’s fictional. Most of the time mockumentary represents itself as a comedy, but of course it has its exceptions as well. However, I am not here to brief you about mockumentary genre at its fullest.
Usually, when we hear about mockumentary we automatically think about movies or TV shows and there is nothing surprising about it. Even if you are not into these type of movies, you can easily name a few examples - Office, Parks and Recreations, Cloverfield, Chronicle, etc. And the trick is this genre isn’t really applicable to video games. Well, we thought this way. Before, The Mind of Marlo.
The Mind of Marlo is freaking hilarious. All you need to know about this game, that it costs a dollar or so, in some countries it’s even under a dollar, it looks really simple and minimalistic, but it really works. However, in order to feel/see it, you need to have a sense of humor and don’t take everything way too serious.
The whole story is about a simple guy Marlo, which is not that simple afterall. Marlo suffers from a rare disease ever existed on planet Earth - like it’s said by narrator “only 1 person aming 7 billions suffers from it” - Spontaneous Silly Head Syndrome. As it’s said in the title of disease your head randomly transform into one of the several unusual shapes, like a Slime, Shark, Ice Cube, Cat. Each form brings it’s owner Marlo some kind of troubles and, like in general, let’s be fair living with such a disease wouldn’t be that comfortable at all.
Marlo decides to visit the professionals to get a help, but most importantly he wants to show the whole world his pain and suffering, so he gets in touch with guys from TV, so they can film a documentary film about his life. So, basically the idea was to create some kinda reality show about Marlo and his disease, so the crew could capture his daily life. Everything what happens next looks like a classic p’n’c game, where you have to click on every object in a different rooms in your house to find a way to defeat these annoying heads, with items you found. Instead of just checking these items and either take them or not in your inventory, Marlo breaks the fourth wall and speak to player telling a short story about these things and their role in his life. From these stories we get a chance to know more about Marlo, about his complicated relationships with his father and his ex-girlfriend.
What is cool about The Mind of Marlo, that it doesn’t intend to be serious. It definitely has a message, it tells you a sad dramatic story, but in completely relaxing and humorous way, it’s so freaking short, that I literally finished it, while I was drinking a single cup of coffee. I would also like to state, that the British voice acting is definitely a top notch of the game, it something that really makes this game so unique and wonderful and the game would literally lost almost everything without it!
I really recommend this game to everyone who is open for experiments and fresh new experiences. Let’s be fair - we have never seen such mockumentary approach in games before and I guess, that The Mind of Marlo can be a great example for something bigger and much more expensive project somewhere in the future, who knows?
Enjoy!

The tale of a lonely man, trapped within a life-changing affliction. But you don't really care about that, you just want to get a good story, and essentially help the morose Marlo find three quest items so he can venture outside again. A simple point and click adventure with a clean interface but deeply fulfilling narrative and incredibly funny (and very British) sense of humour.
Joyful and wonderful. The story evolves and shifts wonderfully in the final third - a great tale and the right length. Thanks!
Pros:
- again, wonderfully written and delivered
- incredibly funny
- absorbing and surprisingly deep
- great puzzle
Cons:
- a point-and-click quest that's not too fiddly but occasionally trial-and-error.

A short, blocky point & click with light humor. Most of the gameplay is, like in any point & click, about collecting & using items, here across a couple rooms, while you learn more about the intriguing "documentary subject". Nothing groundbreaking gameplay-wise but the story development is cool, and the game has obviously been made with love, with plenty of fun little jokes & details for you to discover.
If the trailer got you interested and you like the genre, go ahead, it's cheap anyway!

It looks like this game's humor appeals to children, so I didn't find it funny. The ending is also abrupt; the graphics are retro pixel, there is basically no story development, and the game is very short. It's actually not a terrible indie p'n'c game for children, but yet I don't understand why adventuregamers.com gives 5 stars and a "classic" rating for this. There are way better, more mature, and longer games than this one, and reviewers give much lower points to these adventure games. I recommended it only for little children.

Spontaneous Silly Head is a very serious syndrome that less than 1 person in every 7 billion suffers from it.. The patient usually imagines himself as something else and act upon that imagination. You can feel like being a cat today.. You will probably end up ravaging through your fridge, cutting every piece of clothes you lay your claws on and drink your neighbors milk! And before you even know it, you are a shark.. What a miserable life you would say? Trust me.. You have seen nothing until you become your own girlfriend/boyfriend.
As you have probably noticed by now, the game isn't a serious one. It is just out there for fun. It is not that long either (Can be finished easily within about 1 hour).. And for the cool elements of story, great voice acting and decent sort-of-puzzle solving experience it provides you with, i would totally recommend it taking into consideration it is for sell right now for less than 1 dollar (According to my region's price).

Point Bleep Studios knows how to make a good comedy. I love dry humor. I don't see it as often in titles today. I played this title after playing How to Cope with Boredom & Loneliness. This point and click adventure is just as great as that. If you enjoyed that title than you should definitely pick this one up. Silly Head Syndrome is a problem that just isn't talked about enough in the world and props to this documentarian on tackling such an issue.

-No subtitles on song
This is a great title albeit a bit short. After both titles have hit great with me, I can honestly say I wish the best for Point Bleep Studios in all of their developing endeavors. Check out this game. If you are unsure if the comedy will work with you; check out their free game first. Once you discover how wonderfully it works, come back and buy this one. A great hidden gem in point and click genre with fantastic dry humor.

Point Bleep Studios made another game, which is free to play, that I insist you play before purchasing this one!
This is quite a quirky game. It took me five restarts before I even understood the game objective, which is unexpectedly defined in the intro cutscene voiceover. The game has four rooms to explore, and it has perhaps a dozen inventory items.
The game uses the Unity Game Engine, and it worked fine on Ubuntu Linux 18.04 with a mouse and keyboard. It is a very short game, once you figure out what is happening, and it will not be worth your purchase unless you appreciate the humor. Check out their other game, which is free, before purchasing this one.

A short, fairly funny point and click. It is not in-depth, but it is not trying to be.

Absolutely unique - a charming little point and click adventure with a unique theme and set up. I'd recommend this for any fans of off-beat adventures or mockumentaries! Be sure to stick around after "The End"

[*]Before playing The Mind of Mario I highly recommend that you try How To Cope With Boredom and Loneliness. The latter was actually released later by Point Bleep Studios but it is free and it encapsulates the creators' brilliant delivery of humour.
[*]This is a point-and-click adventure game where we control Mario who suffers from an odd illness that makes his head transform into the head of various animals. This is also the reason why he decides to look back on his life - our job will be simple: wandering about in his home picking up & using important items we come across.
[*]Short, easy to complete 100% but most importantly: a joy to play. The game (similarly to "How To Cope...") does not take itself seriously. The low-res, pixelated graphics and the rather monotone voice acting only accentuate the game's witty atmosphere.
