A well executed spoonful of sugar for taking your flashcard medicine. Worth multiples of the list price if you appreciate its utility. Hijacks your dopamine response just enough to get you to spend time learning. Gameplay is sort of like freeform pac-man; it is not a rhythm game so you can turn down the music slider in settings and play whatever you want; the tracks are ok but there is only one per arena. You can emphasize the arcade mechanics as much or as little as you like with simple or complex arenas and three difficulty settings, so it is accessible for all. If you can edit a CSV, you can create (or export or download) your own lists to your heart's content. This makes the game far more valuable, as the included lists, while good and relatively abundant, will only take you so far. And you needn't limit yourself to languages, you can do any text based flashcard you want. Developer could have tried to monetize additional content but had the good taste not to. Refreshingly bug free.
The language learning space is rife with overpriced but ineffective tools. Games often take the route of bloated narratives or excessive mechanics with fixed and limited language content, making you cover whatever is in them at their pace whether it is appropriate to your stage or not. This game doesn't waste your time. After you have a basic grasp of grammar, you have a huge mountain of rote memorization and frequent exposure to climb if you want to command a serviceable vocabulary. This game acknowledges that reality and gives you something that is actually effective in its simplicity.
The only flaw I see so far is an apparent lack of any implementation of spaced repetition. It appears that lists simply become "mastered" after a certain point and you are up to your own devices to revisit them. While a per-question repetition system would be ideal, it would still be immensely useful if the game did something basic like set a flag on each list based on the last time you ran it, with some options for the user on when to remind them to practice. This would put it in a competing class with things like Anki.

First impressions are very mixed, I paid $4.00 for it so it is not a big loss, there is potential but the execution leaves much to be desired, back to Duolingo!

Cool idea and when you've finished with the vocab the game provides you can add more from various sources without having to write it all out yourself

This is a great game to help memorise words and phrases for other languages. I have been using this for a short period of time and it has already helped me memorise some German words. I Highly recommend it because it takes out all the boringness of flashcards and adds a whole minigame into the mix, making you dodge enemies while you try to get the corresponding translation to the word or phrase, it even lets you add your own words to memorise! This game makes language learning a whole lot of fun and I can't wait for a full release.

This game deserves more praise as a language learning tool.
You get what you put in, and making your own word lists for whatever it is your learning is essential to get the most out of this game. I use it with the music muted and put on my own playlists.
It's basically a more entertaining variety of thr flashcard, rote learning system.
MythicOwl, im not sure if you'll ever update this game but if you do, I pray that you add these (simple) features
.- the ability to favourite a (custom) word list
.- the ability to scroll through lists by holding down a button/joystick. When you have also many wordlists as I have navigating through them can be a bit of a pain.
Thanks again!

I was looking for a language learning game yesterday, and honestly, this is a hidden gem. I didn't expect much at all, but the controls are surprisingly smooth, and the aesthetics and music are solid as well. The ability to import your own vocab fully sealed the deal for me. I would've passed on this game if it didn't have that feature since I'm not learning any of the available languages in-game, but now you can use it for literally anything you want. (I just wish it had Steam achievements, since I'm a sucker for that, LOL)

Read about this on r/languagelearninng on reddit, really enjoying it so far :) Love the ability to upload your own vocab lists. The music is great, although I'd like to see the option to use your own at some point in the future. I teach English and this is something I think a lot of my students would enjoy instead of using regular flashcard apps. Great idea!

This game won't teach you a second language. But if you're already learning a second language through other means, you can make vocabulary lists for words you need to practice, upload them into this game, and it becomes a neat little arcade game for practicing vocabulary recall. I personally recommend getting it on sale.

So far it's been running well and is pretty smooth. I like the concept and it makes word matching more fun. I wish there was a way to have a list of all the times we got a word wrong or right or to generate a list after playing but I'm sure more features are on the way. I need to explore more of the options to customize lists, personally
