Easy to learn and fun to play. Some scenarios can be completed in 15 minutes. Other are more challenging.. There are some drawbacks though:
a) missile troops have an unlimited supply of missiles making them rather too powerful, Historically, unless you were in fortified positions you were largely limited to what you could carry.
b) sometimes you attack an enemy unit in the flank but don't get the flank attack bonus,
c) Roman legionaries threw their pilum (a type of spear) before combat and then used their gladius (short sword). This doesn't seem to be reflected in game combat; the first time legionaries are in combat they get no bonus for the pilum,
I'm not sure how accurate it is historically. Mind you for the price I'm not complaining.

Good if basic board wargame. Light missile units maybe a bit too effective (cavalry can surely overrun light infantry archers or slingers), morale rules weak, but entertaining to play and good graphics.

Quite a nice turn based tabletop battle simulation. A few bugs but minor and devs are quick to respond and no doubt will fix ASAP.

As ever with Hexwar, simple easy to play. Straight to battle without any need for empire building.

Pretty fun. The AI in this one is a bit better than some of the others of this type, making a pretty decent historical sim.

Please do yourself a favor and don't buy this game.
There is much to like, but when you get to that one scenario.
A scenarion where AI units won't take damage and must have automatic weapons to inflict the damage they do.
When they get down to 1 strength point and just hang on forever. The cursing will start.
If you're like me and welcome a challenge you will try over and over with the same results.
I have run out of 4 letter expletives and patience for a reply.

So I bought this to play out Hannibal's battles in Italy. The Gettysburg game was pretty good. But in this game, you cannot get past Rhodanus which is the first Italian scenario. Even set on casual it's impossible. This means you can't get to the battles Hannibal had in Italy.
Edit to add: It can be done, by using the save/load spam method. Because it's not that the AI is sneaky. It just cheats like crazy. Another review makes mention of this. The excessive cheating makes the game frustrating without being interesting.
Can't recommend.

Fun little simulator where you can fight in a number of historical battles, covering the rise and fall of Hannibal in the Second Punic War. Also includes a campaign set in the First Punic War. Decent AI (even the Casual level can surprise), and good for a quick game.
