Terrible. Setting seems fun, and I'd like to be able to enjoy this game, but the tutorial is awful and there are basically no tooltips in the game. I can't seem to do anything 90% of the time. Is that just how the game is? Is there stuff I should be doing which just isn't explained? Who knows? I spent a frustrating 15 mins trying to actually do something befoe requesting a refund. Still, on the plus side the game actually exists unlike the scam that was That which sleeps.

Poorly explained summary, as well as the tutorial not even nearly explaining enough of what the game is about. It plays like a mobile game along the lines of Angry Birds of Collect the Stars, beat the stages, not as it is advertised a video board game where u play as the Eldritch Horrors of Lovecrafts mythos

Even if painfully uninspired game play, and clipart worthy visual assets are forgivable offenses. The game manages to be borderline unplayable because its HUD often obscures itself. The devs added an option to pause at any time, indefinitely to reposition the screen as needed, and somehow this barely helps. Add to this that the game's main goal is just to kill investigators until the clock runs out, and what should be a strategy game of international complexity is reduced to digital Whack-A-Mole with tentacles. Hard pass.

I haven't figured everything out yet, but it seems interesting. I will keep plugging away, so my opinion might change, but as of right now it interests me. The game starts with a map. There are several locations linked with lines, and you can build bases on them. The terrain they are on (and the level of the base) determines the types of creatures you can summon to work for you. You have two kinds of in-game currency, faith and souls, which are needed to build or summon things, and there are investigators out searching for the clues needed to block your rise to power. You get a god power which is pretty potent, and recharges over time. In between levels you can spend the stars you earned with your victories boosting various aspects of your side. It all seems to fit together pretty neatly. Still more there to learn, but I am curious enough to continue. It has been fun trying to figure it out. One key point, always confirm a turn! Took me awhile to realize why I was sending minions from one place to another and they weren't going. If I get enough of a grasp on what is going on, I might do a guide, games like this can really use one. One thumb up, fun but confusing.

Funny game. It isn't yet completely finished, but it is fully playable and it grows on you as you learn the level of strategy and tactics involved. PROS Fantastic illustrations of each character and monster. The game boards looks inviting and not too overcrowded, but the geography of the Earth is rather bad, especially Europe. I have never seen anyone depicting England as connected to the mainland. And the Baltic Sea is nonexisting. These are details, however, and they do not have any significance on the gameplay at all. There is an ok introduction to the game and the game mechanics, but don't expect to understand the game before you have made it to Stage 2 on the world map. You will need to know and understand several core facilities, their placement and not the least how to attack investigators in the most suitable manner. There are some strategy and tactics involved in this game and you will soon discover that brute force will not get you very far, exept in big trouble. Sanity plays an important role as you will learn. I grew more fond of the game as I progressed and undeerstood the different layers it have. The music is ok and oddly strange without taking the focus away from the game. I like it. CONS The English is somewhat poor throughout this game. It would perhaps be tolerable if it didn't had any influence on the understanding of the game, but it does unfortunately. The errors are a mix of bad grammar, typos (that everyone could have caught on a quick proof reading) and nonsensical sentences. The Victory Condictions are poorly explained and in-game you can suddenly experience Defeat, out of the blue, without ever understanding why you were defeated. There is a brief explanation of the VC of each level, but they seems unattached to the actual VC when you play. It is very weird and makes you lose confidence in the game. Disappointing and discouraging. If they fix the English text, it would greatly improve the playability and quality of the game. Should be easy. Some of the areas in the game remains undeveloped for some reason. They cause havoc when you click on them and will freeze the entire game, so you would have to reboot all over. Don't click on the "Custom Mode", for example, it is empty and your program will freeze.

Elder Chaos is a fun little puzzle/boardgame where you play the villian trying to take over the universe. You have six different deites you can choose at the start of each stage with their own unique power. PROS: You play the villian! Cheap Requires some degree of skill CONS: Game is not very deep. It can feel repetitive. Lack of hardware support (The resolution can only go to 1080p.) Lack of replayability Although there are a lot of cons, the game is cheap, and is probably worth the few hours you can get out of it.
Needs more work
I wanted to like this game. I loves me some Lovecraft and this game looked like it would scratch my Outer Godly itch for chaos. What I got was a developer half-assing Lovecraft. It is enough to say i bought this game for a dollar and I still refunded it. No joke. It feels less like a proper game and more like something i;d find on early access. So let's list the faults: - Poor UI. Seriously. The choice of font the developer uses makes reading a literal pain. Pro-time. Try a clean clear serif when doing your UI text. Never mind that the UI itself is very uninformative. - Graphical Glitches. Yeah i managed to encounter a glitch wherein the map would only render as a blue screed. COuld still access and click on locations., Could still see them and all. - Unskippable tutorial. Need I say more. WHat's worse is the tutorial actually does a pretty piss poor job of explaining stuff. It walks you through a combat and unit creation scenario but really does little to explain why and why not, leaving you to guess at a lot of things - Unsatisfactory game play. I won two maps...and I gotta say. I didn't feel any elation or joy from it. There's no real catharsis in success. SO is there anything good to say about the game? It tried something interesting i think, but it failed miserably at the implementation. What's worse all the problems I've listed could have been avoided if the developer had spent a little more time and a little more effort on testing. Heck they could have been fixed with a few patche post release All in all this game feels like a bad M. Night Shyamilan film; lots of wasted potential. My advice, is to steer clear.

I can play as the Great Old Ones instead of Investigators, how cool is that! About the theme: Compare to other Cthulhu game, this one is more like a hardcore board game or a strategy game. Maybe this reverse setting is also the reason why this game has less horror and darkness, more killing and deploy forces. Gameplay: The skills of Deities, servants and investigators are stunning. In chapter 2, each level has 2 different investigator skills, which made me have to change talent skills every time I enter a new level, and develop different combinations. It’s kind of hard, but also brainy and fun. For beginners and gamers don’t know Cthulhu Mythos, it may be hard to understand SAN and Threat. And there also are many hidden rules that you can only discover in the game. It is interesting for senior players, but a background introduction or a more detailed tutorial may be friendlier for novices. Operation: This game looks simple but actually has very complex contents. I believe there is still space for improvement for the operation of moving servants. It’s kind of dizzy to move servants to a spot on the other side of the map. I recommend this game for its delicate Deity, Servant and Investigator skill design, it is definitely a great choice for people who like challenge.
