Dungeons 3 - Once Upon A Time DLC

The Absolute Evil travels to Fairyland, home to the Good Fairy. This disgustingly good creature provides heroes with invigorating potions and is generally the detestable source of good deeds.

The last of the three missions is so broken that I can't recommend the entire DLC. You get four lanes of constant enemies and destroying the bases in the overworld won't slow them down. There is no time to push objectives between waves, you're just pressured to death. Kill everything in your dungeon, step outside to try and do anything "there are enemies in your dungeon" Fuck whoever designed this trash.

Having completed the base game I was a bit weary going into this DLC pack of what the store page describes as "A new, fully voiced campaign across 3 challenging maps" because of the mixed reviews from other players. Many commenting on it being unfair or unbalanced difficulty. I am happy that I sought to challenge myself with what others got frustrated with and to report the following; the difficulty is not even close to what others say. As the store page states "...3 challenging maps", and that is not a lie but it is not some crazy spike in difficulty or unfair if you had played through the campaign of the base game. Each mission in this DLC is more challenging than the last. But that's what they are, a challenge. Challenges that can be overcome. In each mission the Good Fairy will send heroes consistently to slow you down. It is your job to learn the ebb and flow of the current mission to strike while the iron is hot and turtle up when it's not. You're knowledge and experience with Dungeons 3 will matter here. But like missions in the base game, once you get established, you're unstoppable. It might just take a little more effort on your part in the beginning to get there. I found that uncovering a nest of spiders or dragons by accident can significantly hinder you until they're taken care of. In one mission I was fending off spawns of spiders from a nest, a normal wave of heroes walking in, and then right after that two waves of heroes that used portals into my dungeon. The wave of heroes that walked in, tripped the strong spider guards and so they aggroed to my dungeon heart as well. It was hectic but didn't end my run. It just underscored how important it was for me to get rid of the spider nest first and foremost. The dialogue and story was just as enjoyable as the main campaign. Each of the 3 missions felt unique with 2 of them having cool gimmicks specific to them. The final mission being the most fun due to an extra new unit that is periodically under your command. It also felt the most necessary to have proper death trap tunnels due to the flow of heroes being thrown at me. So just one more time, "3 challenging maps" < - if you enjoyed Dungeons 3 and want to challenge yourself, the DLC is absolutely worth it. It is my opinion the negative feedback for this DLC regarding difficulty is a matter of ones own making or lack of skill building a dungeon. Like my situation with the spider nest, a mistake I should've dealt with immediately but didn't. I can see this DLC punishing a player if they try to take their sweet time getting a dungeon setup. And I do mean taking your sweet time. Hope this review helped give you some idea of the content included. Best of luck, happy dungeoning you Ever-Shopping-Evil-Doer!

It was fun but nothing special. Might be a lame thing to gripe about, but I would've liked achievements for this (and the other DLCs).
