Another broken scenario, that you have to pay for.
I wonder if they even started the scenario and let it run, within 365 game days, world war 1 is over, for the usual 20 year old issue of AI have no idea how to builds things, so there is no ammo for anything after about a year of game time, the player however can just build military goods facs and easily conquer the entire world with minimal effort since no one else in the entire world combined cannot resupply even 1 unit to defend against you.
Money grab ala paradox interactive, EA-style

Pros:
- Beginning in 1914
- Map of 1914
- You can help Austria - Hungary survive!
- Accurate military stagnation patterns observed in WW1 that cannot be overcome without near WW2 level of units.
Cons:
- Everything smells like a botched job.
- Still we don't know which electricity factory produces what and in the end you have no idea what is going on after a few years. You end up with a giant collection of factories and a constantly deminishing production. On the positive side, if you start that early, you have all the benefits of the new techs increasing production.
- Loyalties are almost exactly as flawed as ever, save one thing: Half the globe is Turkish. I immediately bought the Great War dlc thinking of all the possibilities a 1914 game could offer. All those countries that had the possibility to be created: A greater Armenia, an Assyrian stronghold, a Maronite Levantine coastal Empire, a Palestine state, Transjordan, a Coptic oasis in Egypt or a Greater Syria... Nothing. There's a giant "F" word by the producers. They have not bothered correcting the Slovenian loyalty that is Austro-Hungarian in 3 years, while the Austrian and the Hungarian loyalties appear as seperate from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Serbian state does not coincide with the Serbian loyalty. The Balkans do not have any potential or any reason of infighting. Greece has no reason expanding in the Minor East. The African, South East Asian and even the South American loyalties follow strict colonial or Chinese rules.
- No major events like the creation of the Armenian and Georgian Republics during the Russian Revolution, or even the Russian Civil war.
- The tech tree has a lot of new additions but with no immediate benefits. You can have the invention of Assembly lines, for example, and there's no benefit to productivity whatsoever. They just added a bunch of tech and never bothered adjusting them to the timeline.

Well i do like this DLC, one catch is when its time to research electronics unless you use the cheat, when you reach complete it causes the game to crash, each time. Otherwise its not bad game. With proper research and enough labs, you can get more advance tech and units out in the playing field before the other nations develop them, and then you can overwhelm them with superior units.

Adds more fun to an already fun game. I played Siam and took over most of Asia. It wasn't easy. This game is the most fun starting out with a under supplied underdog and making it a superpower.
I've found one issue recently though. Serbia doesn't have any units. I played as Serbia in the 1914 brinkmanship sandbox. I was able to take over all central and eastern Europe by spamming ww1 infantry and artillery. However, I'm at 1940 tech level in research and I can't build any tanks, planes, ships, anything except ww1 infantry and artillery still. I'm halfway to researching the nuke. Devs please fix this error with Serbia. Thanks :)
Also had fun with Germany in ww1. I took over the USA!
I also see SR 2030 is in the works. Can't wait!
In my opinion BattleBoat studios Supreme Ruler series is the best geo-political sim game available. Super Power 3 and Power and Revolution disappoint.

For SR Ultimate owners, this DLC is certainly worth $10 in the current summer sale. It's probably the best add-on that's come out, as WWII is a lot more like WW3, while WWI is "more" different than either era. Unit and research types are fewer for a couple of years, which is a good thing. The Brinkmanship scenario flows pretty nicely through the first few years of the war, although the German AI may be a bit OP. Of course, everything can be adjusted to your taste, and there's also Mike's famous Trainer on BG's website.
One thing that frustrates me about the entire series besides the slow scrolling - it was slow on my Pentium III, and it's still slow on my i7 3.6 with 16 ram - is we have an operational combat system that actually takes into account higher ground and other tactical-level considerations, but try as one might, you wind up ordering large clumps of units like Command & Conquer (a game I've hated for 30 years).
As hard as I have tried, and I can deal with micromanagement, the unit counts prevent me from organizing my forces optimally, with arty behind, infantry defending, mechanized attacking, etc. It's usually a mash-up. But considering the scope and detail of the game, we can't really complain. The engine may be creaky, but it still plays a lot quicker than the Hearts of Iron series.
