A simple game that is a mixture of Bomberman, a Minesweeper, and, perhaps, a Tetris in a way. Something that easily fills in your short breaks.

Man this game is great! Don't buy into the innocent graphics! There's real strategy and skill here. Snappy in all the right and wrong ways (When you lose, you always feel its your own fault. After the fact you can always see how you walked into it). Uncompromising. Strategic. Snappy. Recommended

Good arcade game. Most of the time it consist of staring at the board and planning your next moves. It's almost a turn-based puzzler if it weren't for one real-time mechanic that relies a bit on fast execution. But one can still get pretty far completely ignoring it (and the Battle and Time Trial mode) if you rather take your time.

REVIEW #85 PyroMind ---------- Out of all the Steam reviews that I've done, I've think that PyroMind has gained my recommendation the quickest of all, since I've had this game in my library for less than 4 days at the time of this review. This interesting puzzle/action game starts as a quirky, turn-based title where you move space by space on a grid, defusing bombs for points while staying out of the blast zones of bombs that you can't reach in time. Soon, the "turn-based" property goes out the window as you unlock time attack mode and battle arenas. Different "minds", or characters that you play with each having a different perk, are unlockable with progress and/or a currency earned through gameplay, and there's also a fun little mini-game in the main screen. There might be even more unlockable fun bits that I don't know of yet. All I know is that PyroMind has already won me over, and I couldn't wait to give this game an enthusiastic thumbs-up. Heck, I didn't even mention the single negative aspect that I found about it! In my book, when a game stops me from complaining about what I don't like, you can't get a more positive review out of me than that.

A good puzzley game to play whenever you have a few minutes to waste. For the low price, there is a surprising amount of non-obvious mechanics involved, and I had fun discovering them. Took me eighteen and a half hours to get all the visible achievements.
Game Review from 30 Minutes of Play
Reminding myself if I should revisit and if you should purchase. ELEVATOR PITCH: Left-Click Permanent Minesweeper LIKED: The slight jump-scare of winning a level the first time (thinking I blew up), then THE REAL jump scare when I blew up for the first time. Multiplayer gives the game much-needed legs. DISLIKED: Music could be better and frustration of not beating levels when I was so close. The single-player campaign gets repetitive (hence thank you dev for other game modes). ===== Mood After 30mins ===== ☐ Addicted ☐ Afternoon delight ☑ Grindfest ☐ Frustrated ===== Will I Revisit ===== ☐ Yes, I aim to 100% complete ☐ Yes, but only beat the game ☑ Eventually. Until then, back to the pile ☐ No, on to other games ===== Price ===== ☐ Full price worthy ☑ Discount ☐ Deep discount ☐ Pass Disclaimer: I'm aware 30 minutes is not enough time to properly review any game. Historically, I'm a big completionist when it comes to gaming, but my backlog will just not die and adulting obligations continue to mount. I needed to find some sense of accomplishment with my backlog other than buying them at great discount. Dedicating at least 30 minutes of play per game will be my arbitrary sense of achievement. It may not justify my gaming spending habits, but I'll suffer less buyer's remorse. Who knows, in 30 minutes I might discover a great game I want to revisit and something you want to purchase. GGs!

Pyromind takes a simple mechanic and executes it well. It's not particularly complex, but it doesn't have to be. Each turn one or more bombs appear on the field. Each bomb explodes after a certain number of turns, and their explosions can cause surrounding bombs to explode as well. You play a "mind" that runs around the field defusing bombs while avoiding explosions. The trailer doesn't adequately convey what gameplay is like, and the still images don't help either; in practice gameplay is much more straightforward than the trailer might make it out to be. The tutorial takes about 30 seconds and you're good to go. The game feels responsive. Interface is minimalistic and the field is easy to parse, which is helpful to get you into that flow state where you just react without thought. Each "mind" has some variance to its playstyle, though not by much. However I do feel that the difficulty is a little overtuned. The last couple levels for each mode felt pretty much impossible. I think while the game is presented in a series of increasingly more difficult levels, you're really intended to think of the game in more of like a score attack fashion. For a couple dollars I think it's a worthwhile pick for sure.
