To be fair, this is only Chapter 1 of Tales of Wedding Rings. That being said, I still enjoyed the adaptation with a handful of 360 degree scenes and all comic panels animated and dynamic. The soundtrack adds to the emotion, and the voice acting seems great (though I am not e fluent speaker, I still understood a lot of it and and enjoyed the tone conveyed by the characters. I hope they choose to continue the adaptation.
...And, they did not. The amazing concept of an immersive Manga died on the vine. good luck Square Eniix with you next FF game. Would have loved to seee a continuatio on this one...

This was very well done and great proof of concept for future adaptations. My only critique is that this was not the best source to adapt from for VR. Tales of Wedding Rings is very character driven and thus not much enhanced by being experienced in VR. If you were to instead adapt a manga / anime where the environment plays a much bigger part in the story telling i think seeing it in VR could bring the experience to a whole new level.

I think this title shows the potential of having VR movies. It also does it in the style of a manga. It sounds a bit weird but it was specifically made for this VR experience and it was made well. It brings you into their world and you get to watch it as if you were sitting next to the action invisible. Like most people I wish I could see the whole story played out, or at least a bit longer, but we get a unique experience we can't get anywhere else which to me justifies the price.

NOTE:
I'd like to remind people that this is not a "game" like any other, it is more of a showcase of a "what if Manga was in VR and animated" situation. There is no gameplay, it is rather a visual novel. The entire experience is well worth my 30 minutes spent on this "game" because Im a vivid fan of manga and anime, in fact, I just ordered all 8 volumes of the paperwritten manga of this, but to speak for the average person, I want to remind you to not expect any sort of gameplay or lengthy experience out of this game. IF you like these sort of "watch" games, please get yourself a copy to support the developers and artists. They did a good job.

It should have been a free promo for the manga. Even with the discounted price it doesn't worth it. There is great effort behind it, and it is exactly how a manga should look in 3D but it's still just a prologue and more than half of it is just frames instead of full screen scenes.

Played through it twice. Was very impressed by the full presentation. It's a blast to play and just observe as panels come into and out of focus -- sometimes englufing you along with it. The price is steep but it's such a unique experience I could easily recommend.

Pro:
Good quality VR animation.
Cons:
The duration of the video is 30 minutes.
Monochrome manga-style animation. It's like anime but in BLACK AND WHITE.
The video doesn't even cover the entire first chapter of the 44-chapter manga as of the time of this review.
It only covers up to (but not including) where Satou steps into the other world from the portal (i.e. less than half of the first chapter).
I wanted more bang for my buck. Imagine paying full price for a season of your favorite 12-episode tv show...only to find that the product inside contained exactly 1 episodes. This is basically unfinished, not even half-assed anime. Seriously...1 episode is NOT worth the $ you pay for this product.
Go watch the anime instead, folks. It's cheaper and has more episodes than this. Do not buy this.

Wow! What an amazing experiance.
That being said, the price makes it not worth it. There is about 30 min of playtime and then thats it. The title and description are missleading at best. It leads one to believe that this would be a full/extended experieance, not a partial or showcase. If the title was updated to say Tales of Wedding Rings Chapter 1 VR or the description mentioned that it only plays through chapter 1. I would be understand, but even then at $20 its still to costly.
Save your money and get the books instead.

As much as I want to love this, I can't.
It's a great showcase of what could be possible, but this one episode VR manga is finished before you can blink, after 30 minutes we are left with the main character just spinning in space, kicking a few times as if he is dying.
Seriously. As this stands, it works out to be US$20 for 30 short minutes and that's it, it's over with no real re-playability.
Square could have chosen a waaaaay better story then this one, and they could have certainly made it longer then just one episode, 4 or 5 episodes at least so it's on par with a movie. And they could have added a way to move about the sets. As it stands, while you can pause a few of these scenes and look at them completely surrounding you, there is no real explorability in it. You are still just an observer.
Not what I expected, while the idea is great, I was super dissapointed with the high cost and short 30 minute duration.

As a manga lover I love the idea here. The presentation is good, and having read the manga I like the story. I am pretty disappointed though that it is only 30 minutes long, basically just the intro to the story not even covering the whole first chapter of the manga (37 pages out of 60 about) and it still costs $20. Overall I would definitely like to see a continuation but hopefully either longer or not as expensive as this.
