Ok, so I am rewriting this whole review... a 3rd time to some things I learned and also that I wasn't aware my changes would be deleted on the last when I click 'allow comments' before saving my changes.
So, to start, this game was quite entertaining and peaceful to me. Although other people have complained, the music was just right and a nice additive to said peace. The game took me about 12 hours to beat with me lacking 3 achievements that I was having trouble with finding. Those made me try to figure out things for myself by walking through all the sections all over again and checking every single place. Before I checked the last, the castle, I was slightly frustrated and decided to check reviews and discussions for some answers. A discussion had exactly what I needed, but the extra time spent placed me up around 16 hours total.
So, the main achievements I was having difficulty on finding, was first the Master Mason, and then of course he's the key to the shrine. Well, you also have to have a level 99 Oswald and gain his only special ability in the whole game for the Master Mason to give you shrine access. My biggest issue was I couldn't find the bugger. The discussion though told me that he was on the top floor of the castle. I could finally get things done! One extra thing though... for the gold digger achievement, I learned the doors seem to open wide to get that much faster after you have your access.
Other than those points, I did notice a light blue spot in the water on the way to the castle. It's the only light blue spot at all in the water, but considering all achievements have been gained, I suppose it's nothing.
All in all, this is a perfect game for peaceful days or any days really.

This is a mediocrity RPG maker game and completely featureless. The "Key features" haven't any new design beyond default features of RM engine. You can find them in every novice RM developer's game.
Pros:
+ No program bug.
Cons:
- Dev used default RTP materials to design all maps. So they all look the same.
- The design of UI have no characteristics.
- Very boring. You do the same thing as other simple RM games. Travel from one village to another, buy the best weapon and armor, kill the monster to get EXP and money, upgrade your level so you can defeat the BOSS.
- All companions are level 1. They don't have any skill too. Normal attacks are your only fighting style at the early stage.
- Very hard. My group is level 25, but they can't defeat normal scorpions at desert. Even they have the best equipment of this price class. If dev wants player to take more time for battles and level up instead of using various skills or tactical, then I must give up. Because I don't prepare for waste my time on this stupid game!
- No new or interesting game system.
- Many common mistakes. When I tried to call a canoe near the pond of village, game said "You only can call canoe at shallow water". But of course THIS IS shallow water!
- The texts of villagers are fixed, they will not change. Maybe dev was too lazy to create more text pages and switches for them.

Playtime: 10h (actual playtime by saves in the game)
Achievements: 70/70
Most challenging achievement: Teresas Star and Gold digger
Recommending: Yes
Story: Very dry and simple predictable story with only one small plot twist. (Would not hurt add a little bit more to it.)
Playstyle: The mechanic of this game is simple and easy-going. Over the time really repetitive tho. Game is mostly about heavy griding for lvls. Fight system is same as Pokemon. Unbalanced system of dungeons lvl, while in the first dungeon you would encounter one strong and second weak monster fight together, in next lvl you get already 3 strong enemies. Adding companions to your party means staring to grind them up from lvl 1, so that means they gonna die on hit if you go against regular monsters you kill with a single champion.
Graphic: Nice old school 2D RPG game.
Overall really easy-going game to play on the side while doing something else. Game is really cheap, so for this price you get your value out of it for sure.

Simple, yet composed!
If you are into a straight-forward, old-skul, characters-recruiting RPG / Adventure game, then you'll like Oswald's Adventure!
My Purchase Price = around 99 cents (with a 66% coupon).
Total Achievements = 70 (including those extra rare ones).
My Playtime (for a perfect 100% achievements) = roughly 9.8 hours.
Therefore, YES, I will RECOMMEND Oswald's Adventure.
Value-wise, you can't blame a cheap-a55 guy for wanting 70 more achievements under his belt for 99 cents right? :)
This game is NOT for you, if:
- You are expecting lots of custom assets.
- You are expecting massive cinematic events.
- You are expecting epicly-composed theme songs.
Seriously, just be realistic in your expectations! If you are one of those dudes expecting AAA features from a 99 cents game (or a few bucks at most), I'll save you time and tell you to look elsewhere - this game is not for you. You should really stay off RPG-maker games, and instead look at Square Enix games (those Final Fantasy franchises for example).
But if you are like me... Just a laid back dude looking for a bargain game (money-wise and total-achievements-wise), then sure, go for it mate. Cheers.

It's been ages since I played an RPG Maker game, and maybe that space made me ready to love this game, and I did, I really did.
It's fairly compact in terms of progression, there is no sprawl. It's as well designed as any RPGM game I can think of, in terms of maps, unlocks, upgrades etc. In fact compared to the humongous amounts of RPGM games out there, this one contains you pretty well to make sure you dont waste time. Unless you are clueless for this kind of game, you will complete it in 20 hrs and you will not fail at any point if you save smart and check your party's capabilities regularly. And if you do fail, there is an excellent guide to help you in the community area (kudos to aquatorrent)
I see some complaints about grindiness, which yes this game will require to a point. But if you ever played any early Final Fantasy games you won't find it excessive I don't think. Simple hint - conquer every dungeon twice, and fight all the fights in each - you should be ok
Most importantly, I had fun in this. There are many RPGM games out there, but I can say I enjoyed this one and I think there was thought and effort put into how it was made

When I first started this game, I expected a nice or at least relatively interesting story about a guy in search of his sister. Instead, I got one with little to no story and filled to the brim with grinding.
I got my whole party up to the highest level with the greatest equipment you can possibly get, and still had issues defeating the final boss. However, I did it regardless but got no release from it. There was nothing interesting about the game. No story, or character development at all. It's bland in that aspect and therefore I received little to no enjoyment from it.

This game is really cute! :) So far, I really enjoy at playing it... It kinda remind me of old-school SNES rpg games (like Lufia or something), lol.
I know the game-design is very simple, but, tbh, I find the simplicity and "change of pace" (I hope this is the correct term to describe it) quite refreshing... I know some ppl will disagree with me on this, but then again, this is just my personal opinion, okay :) The game being simple just make the atmosphere easy-going / not too heavy to process for me.
I like how that the game give you pretty clear directions / hints of where to go next... Sometimes when I only have like small time to play, I could try finish 1 dungeon, or do some grinding, and then continue next day when I have more spare time. The game is not too easy though! There are still a few challenge here and there.
Grinding might be much for some ppl, but it is ok for me (I find it more entertaining to grind for gold and exp in Oswald's Adventure, than "grind" for those achievements-spam games for example, if you know what I mean)... So I actually don't really mind this bit, as I think it is must expect from RPG games.
However, maybe the story can improve a little... and add some more stuff in world map? And also, maybe add some more achievements (
- that will be super-great for me! and for other achievement-hunters I guess :)
Overall, yes, I will reccomend this game! Price of less than 3 euros / dollars (plus discounts, if you are lucky) is ok for me.
And oh, one more thing, I like how the Dev team actually respond when you ask questions in forum. Developers are friendly / approachable, so, for me, this is also plus point.
Thanks for reading (sorry if my English is not perfect, but I still hope you understand my writing).

Normally I only review a game once I've completed it but I just finished the third dungeon in this, and my opinion may change, but I'm well enough into this that I can fairly say: THIS GAME IS TERRIBLE! Not just for some little things but for a litany of them! Here's a list to know what you are getting into:
1) This game is a GRIND, not just a small one either, you will be grinding for money pretty much from the start of the game to such an extreme, that it'll take you at least an hour before you reach the first boss AND beat it due to its stupidly high crit rate. Although I may have gotten a bad set of RNG the first few times I fought this boss since he got a crit on me virtually every round.
2) All of the characters start at lv 1, this wouldn't be bad if they were balanced in a way so that way a lv 1 Remy (your second character) was as strong as a lv 9 Oswald (your first character). But this problem compounds itsself to the point by the time you get Zara (your fourth and final member) the rest of your team ARE IN THEIR THIRTIES! This is aggregiously bad design, meaning of course MORE GRINDING!
3) Whenever a character joins you they start with the lowest tier of equipment they can possibly equip, and since this game has such a fetish for how expensive things are you need to grind MORE in order to purchase the gear to get them up to terms.
4) NOTHING, and I do mean NOTHING in this game has custom assets, or uses anything more than the base assets. Nothing is unique in the playable characters, and the music is the same set you've probably heard 100 times by this point.
5) The story is bare bones. Normally that's one of the main things you play an RPG for, but here its so minimalistic that its: Hey you are here and you need to go this place next! It's so repetitive and there's no changes in what you do though the game, no story bits, no character interactions, no nothing.
6) Your two 'mages' learn abilities at such an abyssmally slow rate that they are pretty useless until you get them relatively high leveled. It doesn't help that even by lv 30 your healer DOES NOT KNOW A SINGLE GROUP HEAL SKILL!
7) Despite the fact that Oswald is classified as a 'warrior' he can equip anything in the game, including rods and staves, which makes no sense from a contextual standpoint. but I digress
8) After every time you clear a dungeon the price for healing at the inn increases, HOWEVER, the inn on the world map run by the accessory shop owner DOES NOT. This becomes exceedingly silly after the third dungeon since the price jumps from 50 'gil' to 180 gil immediately. The prior jumps were reasonable, this one wasn't since the inn on the world map costs a flat 250 gil.
9) If you couldn't tell from above, they are obviously trying to rip off Final Fantasy's monetary system. However this game is so bare bones its kind of an insult to the term 'gil' and I didn't think that was possible!
10) The difficulty spikes are ridiculous in this, since after you get your third party member enemies will no longer spawn in singles, meaning that often times you will face 2/3 enemies that are a bit too tough to really spawn in such numbers.
11) (I can't believe I forgot about this one!) All the characters and enemy damage are done in a big text block. This is especially given this style innately frustrating and the ONLY time I've seen it done in an RPGmaker game. the standard is usually you have a big row at the bottom showing all your character portraits and when an enemy hits you, you see which enemy is both attacking (via flashing) and which character they are attacking (via a big white number over the character portrait) Likewise the opposite is also true and shows how much damage you do to enemies in a far simpler fashion. Here I often feel like I have no knowledge of how much damage I'm doing to enemies or enemies to me!
12) It wasn't coded that enemies could cause status effects from normal attacks. Instead EVERY STATUS MOVE IS CLASSIFIED AS 'MAGIC'. This is honestly very, very dumb when you have rats casting poison, and scorpions casting daze. I know this is not something hard to program since so many RPGmaker games do this.
Needless to say this needs a vast amount of work before you put a price tag on it.

I wanted to like this one; it's cute, simple and straightforward with that old-school adventure focus... However, it's just EXTREMELY minimalistic on the world/character/skill/equipment/enemy design, very grind-heavy and ultimately just not very interesting. The dungeon design and music selection is decent, and it's got a good level of challenge, but unless you're looking for a bare bones rpg with less sophisticated combat and storytelling than final fantasy 1... I wouldn't recommend Oswald's Adventure.

I am a big fan of RPG Maker games and owned about 100+ of these games in my library.
I played Oswald's Adventure to completion and enjoyed it.
It's a nice short game. The developer says its a 8-12 hours game but it took me 17+ hours and quite a bit of grinding to get all the achievements. I actually enjoyed the grinding too, so it was all in good fun
The story is average but I love the recruiting mechanics. You cannot recruit for help unless you find the "business card" of the person you want to recruit. This prevent you from getting a strong team at the start of the game, and you will learn to treasure every single person that join you because you have to "sweat and toil" to get people to join your team.
The developer of this game is also extremely helpful and responsive. I posted a problem that prevent a certain achievement from triggering and within minutes the developer responded and started working on a patch to fix problem. I was able to resolved the problem with the new patch that the developer release in a couple of hours. The developer is also constantly trying to improve the game. Today, for example, he release another 24 new achievements to bring the total achievements up to 70.
I had a fun time with this game, and would be happy to recommend it.
