Well its not a bad game, and to tell the truth it reminds me of Plants vs. Zombies because of the similar game play. You will unlock units as you advance, some units are better suited for later levels, but you might turn back to earlier units to gain an edge.

Well, what can I say? Young me played 'Plants vs. Zombies' (a game which you can find as a comparison / reference in 90 % of the reviews here, since it was / is the most popular tower defense game) when it was published years ago - and I loved it. Then, I tried out Freedom Defender after a recommendation and my long lost love-feelings for tower defense games have immediately been evoked once again. I loved every minute of this game. I can say, that it's the best tower defense game i have played in the last couple of years. Freedom Defender has a (politically-non-correct-) kind of humour which surely triggers/offends some people, but that's the point of a satire based game. And for me, it is hilarious and what makes this game so special. I love the great puns, the absolutely awesome / cliché-ridden design of the characters and the boss enemies (How did the devs even come up with some of them? They are super funny and creative; sometimes I caught myself thinking "Really? Did they really implemented THIS into their game? Omg, awesome"), the music (!!!), etc. etc. (Seriously, I had some great LOLs playing this game.) You can really see and almost FEEL the love for detail which the devs put into their game. What I personally really liked while playing the story mode, is that both the enemie's and the own units don't have a description of their special abilities (and there are new units every round!), so you need to figure their abilities and the best strategy out on your own while the battle is going on. This, plus the limited resources (money to buy your units), can make the game really challenging from time to time. Besides, there are (hillariously designed) boss enemies waiting for you, who require you to adapt your strategy. On top, you get some nice small mini-games during the story mode and 'new game+' and a survival mode after finishing the main game. So, Freedom Defender is definitely worth its money and you should definitely give it a try if you are into tower defense games and not easily offended. Also, I have the impression, that the devs are really close to the community and put a lot of effort in solving issues / improving the game. I really, really, really recommend this game. And i hope League of Sweat Ent. keeps up their good work (You are awesome, mates).

A cool Tower defense on the topic of the day as they say) If you are good in politics - take the necessary)) Humor is finally on the level, but the gameplay is quite monotonous, but the developer young, still ahead, besides, the game is relatively recent, most likely we are waiting for good updates) Recommend!

No one should ever play this racist as fuck game. Its not fair, the animations are terrible. the game style is lazy. the resources are too scarce to be able to buy upgrades. And it is without a doubt the worst most racist shitty game Ive ever had the displeasure of playing. Do yourself and the world a favor. Don't buy this game. Report it to Steam. It needs to be taken off of the market.

Freedom Defender - Political Tower Defense game much like a Plants vs Zombies. That offers quite a challenge in later levels. It's one of the good games in this genre. If you are not easily offended by political humor this game is quite challenging. Reasonable price, famous genre, humor, good timekiller. I definitely recommend buying not only to lovers of this genre, but also to those who just want to relax and smile.

Awesome tower defense style strategic game that doesn't get boring and is pretty challenging on certain levels. The whole concept is kinda nice with the Hexicans, terrorists, Russians, Aliens and the characters your placing on the field. The developer managed it pretty good to make this game challenging, varied and funny. The only possible shortcoming was the translation to the German language. Many, many words were translated wrong so it doesn't fit in the context. But it didn't bother me at all. Totally worth the price. Would buy again. Recommended.

This game sat in my library unplayed for 18 months because I though it was just going to be a tacky, novelty joke game. It's actually very well made and a lot of thought and effort has gone in to it. The music is particularly good. Other than being a Lane Tower Defense it is nothing like Plants vs. Zombies. There are 35 levels which can all be done again in New Game+, 7 Mini-Games and Survival Mode. Throughout the 35 levels the goal is to prevent the Hexicans, Burubs, Commies and Aliens from crossing your border. There are a lot of different enemy units and units to battle them with however you are restricted to only picking 6 at a time and I found myself pretty much sticking to the same ones. The game isn't too difficult but I did have to play some levels a few times to beat them. I enjoyed the boss battles and was happy they were not stupidly hard like some can be. The Mini-Games which included catching items, driving and shooting, although fun were perhaps a little too easy and short. Finally the Survival Mode was not great. Rather than the enemies getting stronger you just played the same wave over and over again with more enemies each time. It took me about 10 hours to finish the story on normal and New Game+. I then spent a further 10 hours doing survival to grind a money achievement. All the achievements work and I have 100%'ed the game however I did come across a few bugs while playing. There is nothing offensive in the game unless you have a zero sense of humour, it just plays on stereotypes. Overall it's a good game, it's not fantastic but if you've played PvZ to death and want an alternative you could do a lot worse than Freedom Defender.

A tower defense game between middling and bad. Graphics are poor even as cartoons. Mechanics is some original, because uses people instead of structures, but maths has been rudely or lazy implemented, ruining entire game. Before starting a stage, player must choose human characters with supposedly different skills, and can afford as many as can buy, to replace casualties or deploy as many as he can pay (again), there are about 24 human types, and that should be good, if they weren't so similar and expensive than really only half dozen are worthy. Foes skills aren't describe and limites to stupid coments of few words (?). The characters are little imaginative, and the satiric content results very naif and dull, as the difficulty by the way. So Gameplay results slowly and dull. Seems a downgraded copy of the great Plants vs Zombies, but it is more focused to please certain ideologies than satisface fans of the genre. Complete all 34 stages takes about 4 hours with more of 50% achievements; there is an extra difficulty level and an infinite mode, but there is no reason to continue: is a game to play once and forget. To buy in bundles or with very high disscounts.

Freedom Defender is a pretty direct ripoff of Plants vs Zombies, and unfortunately the racist "humor" falls about as flat as the poorly tuned gameplay. I got this game for $0.49 and can't recommend paying any money for it. Get your racist memes for free elsewhere, folks (if you really must).
