I think this game is about as good as Kung Fu Panda Showdown of Legendary Legends

Buy Slap City instead

The character design are horrible!

Its a really fun game, other players are great and helpful. Join the discord server its your best bet at learning the game and getting matches. Its a fantastic game that never really got its chance to shine, give it a shot but make sure you know what you're actually getting into.

Game feels tight. Just got bad publicity before everyone got to try it and. Definitely worth a try!

Finally got to try this game, beign in Europe I never got the chance before. I heard all about how the characters were Melee clones but after trying them i feel like the team did enough to differentiate them, and it's true that this games really shines in the completely new characters, they're really fun and interesting, the new developer promised more characters like these for the next game and frankly I can't wait. Also i really love Slap City but the gameplay in this feels so much better, to me it's tied with Rivals of Aether. Playing this really felt kind of sad, they had a quality game on their hands but dropped the ball on the marketing and monetization.

Icons is my dream come true since my childhood, a platform fighter taken seriously...ever since Smash Melee i had a dream that people would understand that game was not a party game. Nintendo continuously fail to deliver smash after smash with dumb mechanics, slower gameplay and decreased hitstuns. Its shames me what the new generation call smash these days, just a shadow of the glory it once was. Project M was the first spark of light, finally we have people that understand able to take action. As all mods begins, my hope was that it remove it shackles from the original source, and breed into a new thing. And ICONS was born, everything a true smash player could want....but the game was not quite right, a lot of problems in so many different areas lead icons to ultimately fail.....but unfinished as it is, you can see the love that the devs put in this game, and even in this state THIS IS THE BEST SMASH GAME SINCE MELEE (and PM). Icons failed, but Vortex Rising will NOT! I believe in you guys, don't leave us.

For anyone who likes a good old platform fighting like super smash bros series this is definitely a recommendation. It's light-hearted but full of fire for anyone who wants to get good and destroy his friends/opponents with awesome combos. The game runs smooth, the movement options are great and the customisation is still somewhat limited but nevertheless kinda cool. I'd love to see something that actually made you progress in the game, unlocking levels, taunts and skins. And for now, I wish there were more players online. Or the ability to play training mode while you wait to find a match (because generally I wait for about 15 minutes to find an online match, because of the lack of players at the moment.) I really hope to see this game get bigger, because I absolutely love it.
