Cecconoid Reviews

Cecconoid is an 8-bit inspired, flick-screen, twin-stick-shooter, set in an alternate dimension where the pixels are still chunky, and the bad guys are black and white. Except for their red dangly bits...

Do you like Cybernoid? Do you wish it was even harder and more punishing? Then this is the game for you! But not for me. Sorry, too brutal.

The price of the game is OK. It has two games to play and they are both fun - one of them is like robotron and the other is Cecconoid and that's a great game for me! I would recommend it to anyone wanting a fast action arcade type game and the music is very good as well!

Eh. It's well made and looks pretty nice, but it's overall pretty boring and slow for the most part. The old school "game over", limited lives, start back at the beginning of the game, doesn't really add much other than frustration. And the "Bonus arcade game" is equally generic and uninteresting Supposedly this is heavily inspired by some other classic games, and maybe its a good game by those standards. But as a standalone game, in the year 2021, It's not worth your time/money when compared to the plethora of great modern games. A couple alternative games I would strongly recommend over this game. Geometry Wars 3 - Arcade style twin stick shooter with a huge variety of game modes, leaderboards, and a pseudo campaign with stages and boss fights. 15$ frequently goes on sale for 8$ Monolith - Twin stick shooter, bullet hell, rouge-like. IMO Modern "rougelikes" are essentially just better versions of the classic "arcade" games. 8$ frequently goes on sale for 4$

This game's hard. Real hard. Old school design with modern influences and if you get it, you get it. If you've never heard of the 8-bit computers of the 80's, this may not be for you. But it absolutely deserves a positive review, tons of love here.

After some years of owning this i decided to give it a good crack. It turned out to be really entertaining. I made a map for myself and have added it and a small guide and stuck it on the guides section in steam. It seems hard but you end up speed running the early bit of the game with moderate success if your careful. I guess it kept me coming back for one more go. Its very retro and pretty hard to begin with but i think if you like this sort of game i'd stick with it. When the pace picks up after some confidence on familiar screens its fast paced and alot of fun.

This game is way harder than it needs to be. The pixellated visuals look great, but most of the time you can't see where the enemy bullets are. The movement is incredibly slow too even with the power ups you collect during gameplay. As for the arcade mode Eugatron, it is equally as difficult. Numerous enemies swarm you easily and bullets again are way too challenging to see and avoid. A disappointing, boring and challenging twin stick shooter experience.

WOW!! What a find!! This game brings back memories of playing that VERY hard Cybernoid on the NES! I remember playing it all the time with my father! If you want a real challenge then this one is for you!! So much fun! Price is fair! If you see it on sale GRAB IT! You wont regret it! Ohhhh and Triple Eh? Hahah Yeah I get I get it! hahaha

Baffling set of two games. Clearly a labor of love, but why? It's well made, but plenty worse than the games inspiring it. The main attraction Cecconoid is really tedious. The bonus game Eugatron is much more enjoyable to me, and I might recommend it to Robotron fetishists/completionists. But it's pretty unfair, and it's hard to even see what's going on with the monochrome graphics and tiny bullets.

Great old-skool style game in the style of popular 80s flip-screeners. If you remember a game called Plan B from Bug-Byte Software then it is comparable in monochrome visual style, though the gameplay is more comparable with game such as Cybernoid & Cybernoid II. It is also quite difficult and a good test for reflexes if you are a middle-aged gamer :-) Recommended!

Introduction Cecconoid is an eight directional twin stick shooter. It comes with a story mode inspired by Cybernoid and a separate survival mode named Eugatron inspired by Robotron and Llamatron. I don't think I've played any of those games but I have played similar games on the C64 and I enjoy twin stick shooters. Cecconoid Looks like a greyscale+red reimagination of Cybernoid with smooth gameplay, nice multiplier system, plenty of rooms, a few secrets and multiple upgrades. It's pretty tough. You start slow with a wimpy shooter but with every upgrade you improve. However when you lose a life you drop your upgrades. If you then don't pick them up quick enough they disappear and you're stuck with a vanilla spaceship again for the time being. You just need to learn from your mistakes and get ahead further before you die again :) Some enemies and items will give out stars on destruction which will increase your multiplier when you pick them up. Other items give out '100' bonuses you can pick up which will be multiplied by the multiplier Eugatron Your spaceship is thrown into the middle of a room with enemies which you have to clear before you get transported to the next. There are indestructable big enemies that just move around slowly, enemies that can be destroyed some of which shoot while others spawn new enemies. There are also items that give out the '100' bonuses upon destruction. When you reach certain scores an extra life is awarded. For a relatively simple survival game it took me quite some time to get familiar with it. Once it started to click it became very enjoyable and I worked myself up the leaderboard. I was clueless about some game mechanics which were later pointed out to me by the developer. Tips The first enemy ship in Eugatron that gets destroyed will give out an upgrade if you're the one that destroys it. Picking up an upgrade will make you invincible for a short period of time. Your multiplier drops when you shoot. Try to get your multiplier up before you pick up bonuses. Conclusion If you like challenging 80s retro shmups Cecconoid might be a game you enjoy. If you like twin stick shooters and/or survival games Eugatron will be a game you enjoy once you get accustomed to the 8-directional shooting. Gameplay Here's a recording of me reaching the top score in Eugatron. In each level I tried to raise the multiplier to maximize scoring. https://youtu.be/4pcXhgWWR_E
