One of two otome games poorly, crudely, most unprofessionally "translated" by this publisher, "Desperate game" is a hybrid of an otome visual novel and a Hunger Games/battle royale knock-off.
However, ten minutes in you're bombarded with instructions on the rules of the game-within-the-game and they're basically impossible to understand. I was eliminated from the Desperate Game -- basically a Game Over that takes you to the Title Menu -- the first night because I failed to secure a Base, which I wasn't aware was a requirement. The worst thing is, nothing exciting happened, like being attacked by the other players in the game. It was just like "You failed to get a base. You lost the game" and that's it.
There's elements of fighting, "ghosts", two battlefields, and loads of dialogue in the first ten minutes that made my head spin trying to understand. Without spoilers, all I could decipher was the main character was blind, in the Hunger Games, kind of a dimwit, and partnered with someone who doesn't seem to belong in this game to begin with. Which is interesting, but there's not enough motivation here to make me keep playing and figure out his story.
It's unspeakably frustrating that a game as interesting-sounding as this is so unplayable because of the severe lack of English-translated and English-language otome/otoge games there are in existence, especially when you compare it to the amount of hentai/eroge/male-geared games that are made in English, translated excellently into English, or fanpatched into English. This game sounded like it had a lot of potential, more interesting than the snooze fest that is Code: Realize, but it's bogged down by an easily-solved problem.
Hire a translator! If you're cheap, don't worry - no one is buying this game as it is with all the negative reviews, so it really can't hurt to fix your mess for a fee, and do a bit of marketing/advertising (especially to the curators) that your product is up to snuff.
I'm going to TRY to get through this one some other time, but right now my brain hurts from so many other things (shoutout to COVID) that I don't need this in my life. I really DO want to know what happens to Ning, if that is her name, and enjoy the story and beautiful art. Because the art IS fairly well done.

yeah the translation is garbage nonsense, but it gave me a lot of good laughs and for the most part I could figure out what it was trying to communicate.. I think playing through a single route took me about 5 hours but I'm a very slow reader and I had to reload a number of times because I messed up the timed parts. the plot has some interesting aspects, and the art looks good. Pretty sure I bought this while it was on sale and I'd say its worth a few bucks if you're willing to put up with the wonky english.

Well as I always say, the best visual novel Is the one, that make you cry. Now I have a tear pool at home. And even there were some mistakes in translation, and some scenes were unclear, the plot and everything else was amazing. When I saw this game got just 58%, I wasnt expecting nothing much, but now I can say that this game is one of the best in entire genre.

I had high hopes on this one but it was disappointing. English translation was really bad and many times story itself didn't make any sense. Using your power didn't even work as it was supposed to. You have to be saving all the time coz if you use your power in "wrong" place, you lose it.

I played the game and it's not that hard to understand in English if you put some effort into it. It has a great story, great art, really good music, and good writing. You don't have to understand some of the harder to understand parts in English if you just guess, save frequently, and reload. It's an amazing story! I loved it. I expected a different ending but I just got one of the multiple endings. A great value for the price! I had fun. Hope I can find more games like this! I hope the developers make more games like this with life and death situations.

"Miss Blind, first, your IQ is lower than me, second you can not beat me, how can you handle me? Of course, you can sue your mental retardation to win my sympathy, so that I will be more obedient."

Played Character Route Order: Shi Yi ◈ Bai Zhou
Desperate Game has an interesting concept and it could be an amazing game, but the English translation is simply awful. Only SakuraGames are probably able to top that.
You already know what to expect from this developer if you've played In the Name of Sin or Behind the Truth, and especially how tiring it is to read through this machine translated garbage. But even if you think that you know what you are signing up for, let me tell you that Desperate Game succeeds in being even worse. It's damn hard to understand what's going on and not only that, but it completely ruins the serious setting and thus it also ruins the whole experience.

Alas, it's not possible for me to unlock all CG's, no matter what I do or which ending I get. Honestly, I really don't care about this Visual Novel anymore, so I'm not going to waste my time figuring out if there is perhaps another way to get the scenes with the other guy. I'm pretty sure that it is bugged, so I'll just leave it at that.

The artwork is pretty except for the blurriness, and the story is quite thrilling if you are able to understand at least 75% of it without getting a headache or becoming insane. For what it's worth, the soundtrack is decent in spite of its poor sound quality.
Desperate Game has the potential to be an enjoyable mystery Otome if it weren't for the poor English localization and the bugs it obviously has. I literally felt my brain melting while trying to decipher what exactly is happening there. I can't recommend this Visual Novel with such a horrible translation.

The VN was published by my favorite developer and publisher who made Pastry Lovers and Seven Boys 2 which are pure awesome. This novel too is intense and creative in most aspects but there are a lot of translatiion errors and a little bit bugged so, with that in mind if you get agitated with such things better not play it or buy it at all. So the story goes that you're a blind girl and you decides to participate in a killing game so you could restore your eyesight. This killing game is called "desperate game" and it's quite like hunger games however, there is only one sponsor and rules could be made and revoked at any time. There are exactly 99 players and you can pair up or act alone. You have a unique power called the prophet ability it enables you to see the future exactly five minutes before the future events happen, of course you can kill without hesitation for the victory or you can use the ability wisely and prevent deaths. Keep in mind that when you kill a person your ability level goes up and you can use your ability more than once a day etc. There are also timed events in which you have less than 5 seconds or so to make a choice and you need to be so careful when choosing your decisions every lame decision you take can cause a game over so save very frequently. You have thirteen days and you must be the only person left standing to win your wish which is anything in the world.
At the start of the game- you must find your partner and you would be given a nice weapon.
Throughout the story you meet many characters, the main people involved on your side are :
Shin Yi - The handsome devil who stays on your side and has a cool power, he is pretty mysterious as hell.
Bai Zhou - The yandere shouta who carries a bunny around and lets everyone else do the work for him.
Anne- probably my most favorite character, a quite nice devoted girl who loves an idiot.
The game makes you search for collectibles like apples and bread which can be used to restore your physical strength. Physical strength is used throughout the day for various activities, and you need to collect your own weapons and ammunition. During the day time it's mostly a resting period but it's better to stay hidden and during the night time the hell goes loose. You have to solve an intense complicated puzzle which may involve deaths so you can go to a base. Bases are the only safest location in the battlefield and only two teams can enter a single base. In the future of course you would meet "ghosts" and "players who has take the ghost identity" or a murder, there are many scenarios so you need to read everything very carefully.
If you kill or recieve certain memorabilia from other characters you can view their side stories at the end of the game. The initial main characters are pretty mysterious too and you don't know who to trus- each one of them seems to have a different background story. And this game has very insane plottwists that make you gasp in horror. I wouldn't classify this as a romance game- actually I don't have much evidence to say that since there is a bug where i can't use my prophet ability to evade a certain death in a certain arc so idk. The endings differ so far on the fact that if you have killed a lot of people or you haven't. The music is great and there are some intense pieces. Some of them are from the previous visual novels. Even characters from other VN's come up although im not sure if they are easter eggs or not- it's still quite early to tell. The bacground art are the same, so the publishers have an intense bad habit of recycling their previous artwork and music which kinda makes the game meh but the story is cool so i wasn't bothered by them.
This has a cool story and i bought it at a great price so I don't have much regrets. But it really need to have good simplified English translations and the bug where the iron man will kill me will defn need to be removed. Also the story is kinda short and not that much great like Pastry Lovers or Seven Boys 2
A Bad Translation Kills An Amazing Survial game.
Something for the creators of this game to take note, PLEASE GET NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS TO TRANSLATE/ PROOF READ/ EDIT YOUR GAMES.
The translation is pretty bad.... Did a native English speaker translate it? It kind of seems like a native didn’t even proof read. Finding a native to translate the language into English is important! It's easier to b -ullshi- t something into your native language than to b -ullshi- t translate something in another language!!!!!
So for the actual game, Really interesting concept!! I love, love, love the survival genre!! The plot is actually pretty awesome!! And i just had my wig blown off from it. But the translation is pretty sub par...
Ok, it's so BAD, not the worst I’ve seen but it's up there. It makes it so i have no I idea what's going on at times. Other games may be expensive but it's worth it for good quality. :(
you get what you pay for i guess.
If you can get past the pretty bad translation maybe you'll enjoy the game. Maybe. But it's really rough lemi tell you. But maybe the story is worth the hellish grammar, personally i think it is so far for me...
I'm trying, NOTE, im trying to enjoy it.
but idk for you.\
Edit: so I’m replaying to get other endings and cgs now there’s like a idk, glitch and no mater what the iron man kills me, great just greattt i think i saw this happen with someone else too *sighs
Thanks for comming to my TED talk- *slapped*

I'm going to keep it short: this visual novel actually has an interesting concept... but the English translation is so bad that it ruined the whole game for me. I'm not talking about small grammar mistakes, I'm talking about whole scenes that don't make sense at all because you can't understand what's happening and what the characters are saying. Some scenes are alright, but most of them are incomprehensible. It's obvious that several people with different levels of knowledge in English translated the script.
I've also noticed a weird bug that appeared during my playthroughs, making it impossible to keep playing the VN since I couldn't use the prophet power and I got killed every time in a particular scene without any options to react. That happened a few times and I was able to finish the routes once I started a new game more than once.
3/10.
