https://youtu.be/bXIMkQAOKpo Excellent action rpg thus far. Triple audio with decent voicework and subtitles (english/chinese/japanese), 4k/60fps. Interesting story and characters which are split between chapters that end with a boss fight. New weapons and collectables are spread throughout levels for some replay value. Killing enemies and opening hidden chests also drop orbs that are get used to upgrade skillsets. Tight controls and very approachable combo system which caters to both beginners and veterans, unfortunately controls cannot be remapped so I would suggest using a gamepad. Easy recommendation to fans of games like Strider or action platformer/metroidvania fans in general. Cheers.

Sort version: A flawed game, no question about it, but the gameplay holds it up and even makes it above average. Well worth the price in my opinion. About 6-7 hours of gameplay, with new difficulties/upgrades to unlock after completion. Long version: It’s a shame to see this game doing This poorly, it certainly deserves Some attention, but steam just ignored it (I found it by accident on a “less reputable” game site and decided to give it a try, I liked it and bought it, as you do). It does have quite a few flaws like: bad voice acting (Japanese voices are better as always), cookie cutter story and overall unimpressive sounds design. BUT the one thing that this game focuses on, like any good side scrolling brawler should, is the Gameplay. Its fantastic fun and quite challenging. You have plenty of combos each suited for certain enemies/situations (be aware that you need to unlock them manually to use them) and also a cool little upgrade system that isn’t your typical “now you deal 10x more damage” type of deal; instead it offers either new skills to mess around with, new attributes for your combos or bonuses after certain combat feats. The graphics are also quite nice for the price, the game plays on a 2D plane but it’s fully 3D in certain moments/cutscenes. It has a nice variety of enemies and cool bosses with the good old “at X% health the boss does new stuff” mechanic. I really do think more polished sound effects and better music could have propelled this game to “great” status, so I do hope we can see more/better from the devs, because I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit. Cheers.

Totally recommended!!! - Game has good graphics. - The puzzles are challenging - The boss enemies are not that easy to kill - Option to change voice, I prefer Japanese - Mysterious characters behind the enemies - Loading screen has a bit of facts about the background story - You are not restricted to one or two skills - You can choose weapons - You can upgrade skills and weapons Overall, it's a decent simple game. Challenging and fun. Worth it.

Pros: • Looks Nice • Exploration is fun Cons: • Translation • Voice acting (english) • some animations and sfx Verdict: 6/10 Fun diversion if you don't expect too much. Get it on a sale: worth it! (Takes about 5h to finish)

Very impressed with the game so far, the story seems decent, the graphics are nice, and the combat system seems to have depth. Great game when on deal, and at full price if you like beat them ups.

HDL has nice visuals, nice music and, dispite a rather shallow story, puts some efforts in its presentation. But the fighting system and platforming are way too approximative. You're never quite sure when to use the counter (and even when you succed, the hits sometimes missed the target). Ennemies can break you in the middle of a combo (and sometimes push you off a cliff for an instant death), you can get hit by some off-screen attacks, hitboxes are not very clear... The more I was progressing through the game, the more frustrating it was becoming. The end was just a relief for me. Hard to recomand that game when other beat'em all outthere are really better.

This is incredibly well made for a non AAA game! The movement and combat is very smooth and tight, you always feel in control. There are lots of things secrets to discover throughout the game so if you like finding stuff there's that as well. It's not very long though. I completed it in about 4.3 hours played. This is only for the completion though and there are lots of secrets that I did miss. As well there are lots of achievements, Normal/Hard/Hell difficulties and a Challenge Mode as well. The story is alright, it's not much depth to it but it's fairly interesting for what it is. If you're a fan of hack-and-slash games and some platforming alongside it, then I greatly recommend this game!

Its a non AAA game but its slightly below my expectation. A couple of obvious glitches. I think devs are not bothered to fix them. The game is quite short, finished it in 5 hours, with some missing secrets. Story is... meh... Could do with more main character's background story and need more character developments for the other characters.
instead of having almost all other fellow characters dead
The hack and slash combat is slightly above average. Environment is good. Music is good. Worth a try if this game is on 50% sale or more.

Wow, how can I start. So many triple AAA games have bored me after a couple of hours... but this game got me. It is not a master piece but it is well done. I have enjoyed it every minute that I have been playing it and trying to get used to combos.... I think I have played to much jrpgs cause my hands keep tripping. Anyways, I totally recomend this game, because it is FUN. That was games are supposed to be. Some games aspire to be so much more and fail to grasp anything. This one does not promise anything that does not accomplish. It is a game from a new tiny team, so if you are looking things to critique, you are going to find them for sure. but so far the game has no crash for me, has been FUN enough for me not to stop playing and wanting to find every little secret. I have been playing this game for a couple of hours with the latest patch and the game is in english. I have the voices in chinese, so I can enjoy it as it was developed. Graphics: They are good enough, actually for the budget they have I am impressed. check the videos on youtube or steam. Controls: Simple and responsive. You start with simple combos and you can expand later as you get more abilities. Don´t expect DMC combo system though, but more like GoW from PS. Music: Good enough, I havent play the game for so long so I havent noticed if it gets repetitive later on :S Voices: I am using chinese voices, and they seems good. I have not tried english and I will not. I try games in their original language and use subs, thats how I roll. Difficulty: Easy, any gamer will figure out after a couple of minute where the secrets are but then again, I have not complete the game yet. There are things that could be improved but on average and with so many games that are so dissapointing this one is a big thumb up. I hope you guys can enjoy this simple but well done game.
