An alright word game (of probably 100 levels),
played against a timer.
I like the cute graphics.
I like the unique concept.
I think I'll enjoy it in small bursts.
Plays like a game that might sell better on mobile platforms.
To get all 3 stars on some levels, you may need to either know some obscure 2-letter words, (or get them by trial & error),
or redo the level to get different sets of letters.
Not a huge deal for me, at the $3 I paid for it. Levels are short, to redo.
I think it's unfair that one of only two previous reviews is negative entirely due to the sound:
Voume Mixer is your friend
(That's the name of it if using a Windows PC.
I expect Lunix and MacOS have similar options, possibly under a slightly different name).
Alt + Tab out of the game, and use it to mute just this game. - there may be TWO things to mute.
(Google Volume Mixer if you get stuck)
I haven't seen any other bugs yet, so the game is perfectly playable, so far,
and personally, I find it nice to look at.
Overall, I give it a soft/weak recommendation, if you can get heavily discounted.
I agree with another reviewer that it might be missing something (but I'm not sure what, exactly) to entertain most adults...
However with the Steam refunds system... if you see if for $1-2, it might be worth a try.
(I feel that if they could add an option to disable the timer, I would prefer that
& also then it would be a cute word game for kids, possibly even at full price?)

Its just too frustrating. The timer gives you 5 to 10 seconds of looking across the board, it can take several seconds just to spell the word out. I dont know if this game was ever on mobile but it _feels_ like a port, built to persuade people to pay for help items that was then poorly balanced when pushed out as a complete game.
The graphics are serviceable, the sound effects are fine, the music is maddeningly terrible with only seconds of music per level thats badly looped around, but regardless of all that the game ultimately just isnt all that fun.

I expected something a bit better from Around the Words.
It's hard to put into words (no pun intended), but it just felt as if something was missing.
Words fail me (okay, that pun was intended - sorry about that).
The general idea of the game is a good one, but I found the gameplay to be a bit annoying more than anything else.
Also, I was unable to find a button to turn off the music, which should have been a standard option. The music is okay for a few seconds, but after that it just becomes irritating.
Obviously, you could just turn off your speakers or headset - but that removes the possibility of playing your own music whilst playing the game.
I would have liked to have recommended this word game, but sadly I cannot.
