The first part sucks. If you do not do something before the maze, you will be perpetually stuck in it until you exit ans restart the game. If you don't do something before the exit, you will be wandering perpetually in the desert. The game has a message that I have heard 100 times before. It gets better after the first ending.

This game is awesome and the 4,00€ totally worth it.
I didn't expect that it has so much different outcomes. It also reminds me of the Stanley parable.
The game makes fun about itself and the player mostly dont know whats going on. I never expected that "to get some milk" can be so hard and awesome in the same time!
Sometimes it is to quietly but besides that its cool.
But i still wanna know whats up with the other elevator... hmmm
I got an ending that was too funny and lovely to be true:

This game is truly awful. I think it tries waaaay too hard to be the stanley parable and to be "mind blowing," but it just doenst challenge the mind, but moreso makes me insane walking aorund for so long aimlessly for some picture and a map??? I want to say it had been an hour i'd been walking around but It wasnt even that, it was just so intensely boring that it wasnt even entertainingly confusing. For example the stanley parable and games like portal are actually confusing and intruiging to the mine, but this is just mindLESS. Now I havent played the game all the way through so I am not sure of the rest of the game and may look at some gamelay of it, but of the time I wasted on this game, although not a lot, made me unsatisfied for the price it was at. I got it on sale, but it definitely isnt worth $4.99 USD for something that could easily be made into a fun and somewhat good gameor that could be found by thinking about world events and not mentioned but hinted to the vietnam war. Pay for some good documentaries or something for an actually helpful and mind-enriching thing. Being a gamer I dont consdier much of what I play to be mind-enriching, but if I do play these types of games, then they should probably be helpful, and not numbingly boring. Sorry for rant, but I felt the need to stress why NOT to get this game unless it becomes free.

This was a hard decision for me to not recommend the game. For the most part my interest was kept in the story, but as I look back on the gameplay, it actually was quite a mess.
The most important part is that the $4.99 cost is a lot for what is delivered. There are much better (and longer) games on Steam for the same price or free.

The video is one full playthrough, so you can watch and decide if you'd enjoy it.
I'm gonna have some spoilers here as well, so be wary.
The game starts you in a classroom that seems normal, but as the game progresses, you're put into weird situations that don't really flow well.
After you finish the school, the game takes an anti-war-in-the-middle-east political turn that seems to be in there only to make political statements. It really didn't progress the character's story or further the quest that the main character had been pursuing at all. Okay though, sure. I really don't care. But it drags on to make a point it seems.
Afterwards, you're thrown into a hospital maze that really misleads you on how to get out. There is a paper that you can flip, but the controls don't explain that at any point. It's the first time you click the mouse in the game (Other than for shooting Democracy in the war stage) and it's not obvious at all. This cost me about 30 minutes before I figured out the page can flip. After all of that, you get to the end to find a Milkman that asks you a moral question that has absolutely nothing to do with your milk-acquiring quest. By the end, you randomly give up on milk for love. So...the whole quest was pointless and you really want love even though nothing in the game pointed you that way. It kinda missed the mark for me.

Katharsis, in a nutshell, is a poor man's Stanley Parable, with no voiced narration, some interesting ideas and overall an extremely short total playtime of not more than 4 hours, even when counting all secrets and different endings.
It's exceptionally cheap though and feels somewhat experimental but all in all, it's neither a truly good game nor a high production value. Not even remotely.
But is it fun?
Yes, I do believe so.
I wasn't bored playing it, it had enough variety to keep things somewhat interesting and I actually liked some of the ideas implemented. Won't spoil anything story wise, but this is a very abstract game, so if you aren't into abstract storytelling, this will leave you confused and unhappy. Otherwise, dive in.

This game tries to be like The Stanley Parable, but is so much worse. Gameplaywise it is really bad. Like at the start you walk down a really long corridor and at the end it tells you that you need a key, which then spawns at the beginning, so you must walk the same way back. I get it, the game wants to make fun of games. But it is not funny.
Or like a section where the game makes fun of America and of military shooters like Battlefield or Call of Duty. But it is really dumb, like "Go invade that country, by the way there is oil there, what a surprise. It turns out that there isn't oil. We killed all those people for nothing."
Also the game just sticks one section after another and they all just have nothing to do with the previous. On the store page it says that the game has a "core message". Really I can't see that.
I got lost in one section about 30min, then I was so frustrated that I looked on Youtube what to do. It turned out that you needed to rotate a paper with a leftclick. But the game hasn't even hinted that.
So better stay away from this one except you found the examples I mentioned funny. I did not.

This game is a kind of Stanley Parable walking sim with a couple of puzzles and about 5 endings. Its an easy 100% cheevo game that took me about 2 hours to get through it all. It gets the thumbs up because it doesn't deserve a thumbs down but to be honest it doesn't really deserve a thumbs up either.
PROS
+ quick and easy exploration game. It doesn't overstay its welcome and I was in the mood for something short and simple.
+ some fun little vignettes. Each 'level' has a little goal and some of them were quite funny. Others were a political statement. Some were almost like self-help LPT's. It borders on preachy but didn't go far enough to make me cringe.
+ multiple endings.
_____________
CONS
- sound. There are very few sound effects or music tracks in the game. There are no footsteps for walking. Everything is too minimal for me on the sound side.
- quite pricey. I didn't pick this up at full price that's for sure. 5 bucks for the playtime and content is a bit steep. Get it on a sale for sure.

Short review for a short game. It is in the same vein as The Beginner's Guide and The Stanley Parable but it is nowhere near the level of quality of those titles. I do think that for the right price it will scratch that itch and to be frank I really enjoy these kinds of games and can't find enough of them here on Steam.
