After extensive hours utilizing this program for videos, and perhaps more, I've concluded it's not only worthwhile but could be vastly improved had more features were already included. As technology advances so are expectations for quality and this installment in the Video Deluxe franchise truly shows. In comparison to basic editor programs, the 2017 edition exceeds not only with its presentation but also overall performance for content creators. Its layout offers vast options for comfort and tools for users to experiment with at their own pacing. With enough time involved, users would feel they've creatively reached their fullest potential when the program works.
However, it's repetitive how there's always a new version opposed to constant updates for a singular product. It would've been easier if the program weren't purposely divided and unlisted from obtaining when sequels are developed. It's a shame how some newer versions have additions that could've easily been implemented and it would've been better for consumers. Although sometimes it feels buggy, and lacking some rather useful features that would otherwise greatly enhance the experience, there's enough content to get newcomers and professionals by without prolonged interruptions or unsatisfactory results.

I feel like this is the most useful, feature-packed video editing suite I have used by far. I have tried many video editing softwares in the past, and my previous editor was PowerDirector for Android. This feels the most like PowerDirector in the way the UI is laid out, and how a user would interact with the program. It's simple to use after getting over the minimal learning curve, and I have used it since in creating all my YouTube videos. I would highly reccommend this to anyone looking for a simple but feature-packed video editor.

good piece and price(70% discount) of software has hevc support for gopro hero black 6 nice layout good for intermeditate users not recomended for beginers for them ive prefer something else but for the price and how often this brand gets discounts ill still recomend has for color grading and slomo effects.
remember HEVC H.265 support requieres supported hardware intel procesors of late 2015 and lots of ram +8gb (recomended not required i got i7 2670qm works choppy but i can manage),
and windows 10.
remember all software crashes even premiere pro magix its no exception dont expect support for chinese or korean this brand is from germany many tutorials are in that languaje i think since the vegas brand came to MAGIX its the only afordable brand ive seen the top of the line software (EDIT PRO X8) AT 70%-80% OFF those are good deals.

Very easy to use. I have tried other editors (mostly the 'free' ones) and this gives me the easiest editing choices. I can add multi sound channels, multi pic-in-pic's with no problems.
Using it for YouTube vids and it makes it look like I acually know what I am doing!

Just going through my library. I remember this being terrible. If it’s less than $10 it might be worth it.

DO NOT BUY!
If you have come this far then look away now. This program is complete tat! I wouldn't pay in coconuts for this! Whilst this may seem unfair on MAGIX, let me explain my resoning.
1. Crashes after pulling around a few video clips
2. Silences audio on random clips for no reson and the only way to get them back is to reinsert the clip, silencing something else. Are you serious???
3. Creates enormous file sizes (400GB) for 45 second of video with no apparent way of chaging this without making it look like something from an 8 bit game.
This is the most broken and ammeturish attempt at an editing softwear. Like I say, do not buy or your PC may end up through a window!
If this can be fixed, I would consider changing my review. I like the way it is easy to navigate around and feels similar to iMovie.

So it does not use hw acc encoding on amd systems and its not using nvenc. To make that clear this software does indeed only use hardware acc. from certain intel cpu with build in gpu from what i read.
That is indeed not great and its not always using all cores to 100% that depends on the projects complexity it seems.
It does make use of all 8 cores of my ryzen 1700 so then it does encode mostly in/around realtime for 1080p from what i saw.
I did have no real problems with previewing a project tho tried some 2 vids side by side and some fades and repositioning and stufff and all worked flawless. So i guess most people who do have problems with that do need a hardware upgrade. My old gtx 960 did the job.
The overall usability could use a better handling too since some things are not that plausible or work the way i would have expected.
The windows and the general layout of the takes and timeline could be better in my opinion so far i couldnt undock windows. So no multimonitor editing from the looks of it.
I did not read the handbook yet but still could figure out how to get most things done.
The good thing is that when on sale ( i bought it for <16 EUR) its a "bargain".
It did not crash on me while testing all sorts of import files and cuts and effects mixing with image all worked flawless.
The only file i couldnt import up till now was some quicktime movie for which i had to install quicktime. So i do think that most common newer video codecs are included.
Import times are a bit long and that might what some users could think that their programm has freezed or crashed.
A import / loading screen would help here.
For now just be patient.
Although its not the video editor of my dreams it does have more editiing features than avidemux thats why i will keep this too.
Avidemux btw does cost nothing and has hw encoding of nvenc 265/264.
Makes me wonder if magix sold out to intel.
So for a quick raw cut or new encoding use avidemux and for more mixing and real editing this is great when on sale.

I'm not recommending this software - in its current state - for few reasons:
The most important is that it favors Intel processors and graphics for hardware acceleration, which will not work if you have AMD graphics or Intel incompatible card and CPU. Without the hardware acceleration the software is extremely laggy, slow, and fails to synchronize audio/video test-plays before the export. This is not acceptable and should be fixed immediately.
The track editor lacks some essential tools for managing the video/audio sequences in tracks: for example, moving all the sequences in one track means going through whole track and selection all of them individually, then move and test. If you are unhappy with the results, you have to repeat it again.
The other things are weak support for audio and video files import and complex management of movie export (default settings render average quality movie, technical knowledge is needed for better manual setup).
Not recommended in current state.
