Glasswinged Ascension Reviews

Glasswinged Ascension is built around cyberpunk theme permeated with avoidance, caution, and story telling. It is truly hardcore, and consists of missions which can be completed in different ways. There is no straight path to the goal, while means to achieve it do not have to be lethal.

Take notes Valve, this is how you make a game, pure perfection, im having a hard time coming up with words that best describe this masterpiece of modern day gaming, it does require a pretty beefy PC, but if you have the specs, i HIGHLY recommend this title, DO NOT pass it up! 10 Goober Stars out of 10! and 2 thumbs up!

simply awful, a three year from a decade ago could have scripted a more responsive flash game with a better story and more precise english.

There are an inordinate amount of text walls before you get to do anything. The gameplay is not bad. It has some things I like, but it definitely needs some sprucing up. I like the idea, and am a fan of side scrolling stealth. I wanted this to be better, but it has a lot of potential at the price. https://youtu.be/8mJjqON1kO0

Dont waste money and time at this crap. No normal chekpoints, clumsy conrols, annoying non-skippable comix-style dialogs.

TLDR: I really am sorry that I have to say, because there never is enough cyberpunk games, but this but this game is bad. Really, really bad. Don't buy it. Longer explanaition:

it looks like it should be a platform arcade, but there is a more text than in childern's book even before first misson starts
every few steps you make, you get interupted with several pages of texts that might seem fine in gamebook, but in this type of game it woudl be more than suficijent to say "to jump pres spacebar" and "to break a glas, jump through it". And btw, I really would like to see the devs jumping through a wall of glass like that, because I once encoutered a man who tried something like that. He was missing almost whole arm.
graphich looks quite nice at first. But then things starts moving and it looks like... hm.. paper frame by frame animation? really not nice.
controls are... clumsy at best and combined with that so called "animation" it feels realy unresponsive. not to mention that it realy does not feel naural at all to push UP to take out/holster gun, while SPACEBAR is used to jump.
there is no meaningfull in-game turotial. and no that visual novel text is not a tuturial at all. For example the game says "this is nice place to hide" but no info how to actully hide. When player crouches, he still is in front of everything and his upper body part is clearly visible, but guards don't mind and pretends they don't see that. Same goes for taking out the very first enemy - you are supposed to use some skill on him, but I have no idea how.
So. thats it. Enough of self inflicted suffering. Too bad I bought the game really long time ago, otherevise I would request a refund without a second thought.

Glasswinged Ascension is a stealth-oriented platformer that unfortunately has clunky controls and mechanics. I am pretty sure some of the sound effects came from other games. For example, the sound of the locked door is from Vantir assembly line in Harbinger (my favorite isometric RPG) Based on that alone I am suspicious of other assets. The controls are just awful. It feels like animation is never in sync with the commands. Even the mechanics themselves tend to be very unpredictable often causing you to die in an unfair way. For some unknown reason, the game has a need to tell you exact same tips each time you respawn making it more tedious. Not to mention a complete lack of intuitive checkpoints. Is the stealth or platforming gameplay any good? No, not really.
Final Thoughts 3/10
I knew the game was clunky from the trailer but I hoped that atmosphere and story would make up for it. If Glasswinged Ascension had any campy charm it was gone by the time I heard a sound effect from my favorite game. My patience with terrible mechanics pretty much run out by the second level.
