Not sure why I bought it, I guess it looked amusing.
Now I am glad I did. Find myself with a grin on my face playing around with all the options!

SHOWMAKER is, to a certain extent, a more streamlined and automated version of other dance-based animation software. At $15, it's a bit much for what you get, but the polish and presentation is almost unmatched.
It functions quite a bit like traditional video editing software, with tracks that you can assign models, dance moves and effects to. This works great for quickly choreographing performances, and could appeal to dance or theater professionals who want a game to play after work that's related to what they do.
This software has a TON of potential that would be unleashed with Steam Workshop support. If the developers found some way to include the mod tools inside the application instead of externally through Unreal Engine, this would be a grand improvement too. Overall, I heartily recommend SHOWMAKER with the expectation that it will see many improvements, optimizations and content expansions in the future, although at this stage in development, waiting for a sale wouldn't hurt.

As for someone with a little experience in film making, this app is great. Although there are some bugs here and there, it is easy to learn. As for me,
+ They got dance, model and stage presets
+ Lighting and other effects
+ You can add your own songs with .ogg format
- Currently limited to the presets
- Free camera are a little hard to move
- Need more adjustment in the edit mode
