Game feels abandoned, and very alphaish at best.

I have both played thrill of the fight, kung-fu fight, and this game. I would put this game second. I would like the NPC to be a little closer and a little more aggressive. But it could be a good warm up sparring partner before playing the thrill of the fight NPC. I would also like to see more customization on the punch frequency and power. And more rounds as well.

I try all of the fighting games and I like this one too. The distance problem people were complaining about seems fixed. There's like 6 different fighters at different difficulties. Graphics and sounds are actually pretty good. Does a good job feeling like you're in a real fight not knowing what the other guy might do. Lacking a bit on the hit feedback animations but it's still pretty satisfying.

Given that this game is still in early development, I would recommend this game. The simulated sparring partner seems to move and react in a very lifelike fashion. My main complaint with this game is that I have a fairly small Play Space and every time I throw a couple punches the sparring partner will retreat outside of the Play Space where I can't reach and "hang out" there until he decides to start another attack. So the sparring matches haven't been very interesting so far. I tried changing the sparring partner distance parameter in the settings but that only improved things marginally. Also, the adjustment controls for a lot of the settings are outside of my Play Space and are difficult-to-impossible to reach. Nevertheless I see a lot of promise in this game.

is this game perfect? no do i see potential in it? yes this game has the potential to rival "thrill of the fight" for being a virtual sparring partner, but the problem is that it's held back by the limitations of vr, if leg tracking were part of vr games this one could skyrocket into something great. i hope chun yi see's this review, because i don't wanna see a game like this go to waste, maybe find a way to make it compatible with leg tracking devices such as vive. i know this game isn't perfect, but i know it can be alot more.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch controllers
Note for Oculus users; Roomscale setup strongly advised So I got this on sale for $1.79 from the normal price of $1.99 USD, yeah I'm a cheapskate. Anyways, there's no comparing this game to Thrill of the Fight because this is a $2 game. I can say, without any shadow of the doubt, this is the best $2 boxing game on Steam VR. The question is would you rather spend more for the better Thrill of the Fight or spend less than $2 on this game and get a similar, but lesser, experience? That's actually a close call believe it or not. This is a decently good game. There's not much bells or whistles to the game. No AAA production values here. The UI is clunky. The boxing AI is not the best, but it's decent enough. I was surprised. And you can block shots or dodge them. I think the description of pure dodgeplay mechanics is misleading by the dev, why he'd want to undersell it though it anyone's guess. Best of all, I got beat up pretty good by a girl. Normally you'd have to pay a premium dollar for that experience, but not in this game. You will probably need to adjust the distance of the AI boxer. Some of them just fight too far away. So you need to be able to put a few steps forward to engage them. And that's my biggest complaint: if you can't step forward to engage them, they will box you from a distance which just looks silly. Nobody does that in real life. They throw boxes and kicks that have no chance of hitting you. Luckily, not all the AI boxers are that risk advese so it's only a few that you definitely need to be able to take big step forwards or re-arrange how far away they are from you which is in the options. So unless you have a big roomscale, I suggest you change the options so that they are closer to you from the start. Other than that, I liked the different boxers. They all behaved differently. Some were obviously more into kicking you than punching you. Sadly, you're always boxing in the same environment. There's really no progression. You pick which boxer you want to box and that's it. You get graded afterwards on your effectiveness. I actually knocked out one guy and the ranking was that he bested me .. seriously? I landed more punches too ... who is judging these sparring matches, russian mobsters? I digress. Most of the negative reviewers seem to be before the mid August 2017 update. Even if the game is abandoned, I'd still recommend it as is. This is a good deal for $2. Rate 7/10.

for 1.59, it's somewhat good. my room was too small to adjust the distance between me and the opponent and had no clue how to fix it. boxed some people that kept kicking me and missing cause they were too far away. besides the issue I had, I don't think I would recommend to anybody. I knocked out a 5 star after playing the game for like 10 minutes

Although simple sparring, it feels so natural and has potential. The problem is the guy your sparring comes so close he standing where your standing and ruins the experience. If the devs fixed this where your sparring partner stands as he should and keeps his distance slightly this would be a great little sparring session.
