Wish I could see previous world series winners in the history section, and previous awards winners but there seems to be no way? Still a very and simple little sim game. It nowhere near the depth of OOTP but sometimes you want just a derpy simple sim game, this is like that.

I've loved this game for quite a while, now. Indeed, I was playing it when my present computer was merely a dream of future-tech.
Baseball is based upon probabilities, and is perfectly suited for a computer simulation. Baseball Mogul is not about taking control of the player, fielding a ball, and throwing it for the tagout. The graphics are very simple, and in the age of Witcher III seem like they're from a long past era. This game is different.
You are the owner of a baseball team, and your whole purpose is to make money. To make money, you need fans, and to make fans, your team needs to win (except for my favorite, the Cubs). In this game, however, you also play the part of the manager, setting up the batting order and the pitching rotation, and making decisions as to positioning the fielders to make the anticpated play when the opposing team is at bat, at making decisions for your batters: will they hit away, bunt, and will there be a hit and run when the pitch comes, and so on. You can replace pitchers and other players in any given game. You can move players in the minors up or down, depending on the probability of how they will perform.
I just bought the game, today, and (of course) I'm the 2016 Chicago Cubs. We lost our first two games of the season against the Rockies, and won the third. In the third game, I brought Kyle Schwarber up from 1-A and put him in left field. In that game, he hit a home run, and went 3-5 at bat. Cubs Win! I just finished our first game against the Angels, and Lackey pitched a two hit shut out, and Cubs win 2-0.
This game is incredibly complicated, so expect a high learning curve, even if you are a baseball expert.
I should point out that, years ago, I took the 1969 Cubs to a World Series Championship ... they won on the 7th game of the Series.
Besides this, the game is fun. Enjoy! Highly Recommended.

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but this game is amazing simulator. I am very jealous because I'd like a game like this for NFL Football. Imagine getting start in the 1920s with Jim Thorpe? I highly recommend this game for anyone interested in Sport History, especially baseball.

Best stat based baseball sim out there.
Not for action fans or casuals.
Can manage at:
-Grand Strategic level, (Owner / GM tasks like: ticket prices, when to build a new stadium, or vote on expansion or rules changes).
-Strategic level, (GM, VP of Player Devlopment, tasks like: trades, drafts, scouting, player assignments, change player's positions).
-Game to game tactical, (Field Manager tasks like: Daily roster, pitching assigments, platooning strategy, infield / outfield stances).
-Pitch by pitch by pitch tactical, no fancy graphics but you can throw every pitch, swing every at bat, initiate every steal, pull pitchers, put in PH's or PR's etc. etc. for every play, for every inning, for every game all year.
If you like action based or console style sports games you will be bored.
If you revel in the minutia of baseball tactics, stats, and history you will love it.

If you're not familiar with Baseball Mogul, there are 3 things about it which cause people to give the series a lot of crap:
1. It was the dominant, if not only text-based baseball sim for Windows at one time, and they squandered that lead by focusing on things that didn't matter and generally not working on it like OOTP Developments worked on their game. It could easily have been like Football Manager or OOTP by now, but it's nowhere near as good as it was supposed to be.
2. Some of the releases over the years have been really, really terrible. Like, "How dare they?" level of terrible with major features not in the game at all and bugs and so forth.
3. The interface still looks and feels very much like it did 15 years ago.
But if you put the prejudices away and play BB Mogul 2017 with fresh eyes like I did, it's really not bad. The sim speed is lightning fast. If you're not into micromanaging you can easily get though a season in an hour or two. And if you like to play 'stats only' and don't like to rely on ratings, BB Mogul is pretty compatible with that.
I especially love stat based scouting, which gives an overall rating not only on ability but shades it based on performance. So what that means is, you can put a ton of money into scouting ability which gives you a decent read on a players specific skills , find underperforming players on bad teams (pitchers with bad defenses behind them, hitters who would be great platoon players but are being used full time because the team doesn't have anyone better, etc), turn those players into stars or at least guys who put up numbers, and either keep them or move them on at a profit. Dumpster diving. That's my favorite part of being a GM, and you can't play that way effectively even in OOTP.
BB Mogul isn't a game that you should be buying every year, or two, or even three. I'm guessing this is a hobby/part time project for one or two guys, and it doesn't get updated quickly enough to be worth spending the money on. But the Mogul series is a good enough spin on baseball and enough of a change of pace, that one of the better BB Mogul games does deserve a place in your library if you're into this genre at all.
And BB Mogul 2017 is one of the better BB Mogul releases.
It's not worth $30... let's not go that far. But it is worth $20. It's a solid game.
