Adds a colorful and alien-themed sandbox map, which looks really nice, but does not really offer that much new variety to the game. Recommended for completionists.

I love this game, its one of my favorite games to play at this moment.
It has a lot in common with the Anno games and games symiliar to this but over all a very awesome game.
I hope they come out with a DLC soon to make it more interesting.
It can be a bit dull at times as there isn't much of a challange in the first few missions.

The only reason I bought this dlc is because it was son sale for less than $1, otherwise this dlc isnt worth it.
I had a hard time finding the single map this dlc gives you but the farming on this planet sucks. Even alien crops only get medium grade plots making sure your city builds looks like you closed your eyes when you were building. Then as you get going they made the edge of the map end on random plains that make no sense and cause you to dead end your builds and random blocked tiles that make you wonder why.
I love aven colony but this dlc is barely worth $1 for a game that has been abandoned by its developers years ago.

This is a single map for the sandbox mode, and not particularly special at that. There's technically nothing wrong with it, but I cannot approve of this price for a single map, especially when I was only interested in the campaign. If you can get it in a bundle or at a discount - sure.

Cerulean Vale DLC adds challenge maps to the game for under $2.
Pretty much the same game play as Aven Colony. Complete the campaign first before deciding on getting this or if you want to support the devs.
- no integrated story, just random maps
- time limited
- frequent environmental disasters waiting to kill you
- specific population goals
All up, nothing new, not very exciting. BUT you are getting additional BEAUTIFUL maps like in the main game.

This may not add any new missions to the campaign, but the extra sandbox map is a plus if you plan on playing the game a lot. It helps keep the game fresh. Hopefully the developers will add more campaign in a future DLC, because the storyline is interesting and the challenges are fun. For now, sandbox is here to get us through!

I'm still flabbergasted at the mixed reviews for Aven Colony so I figured I'd review this DLC map too.
This is a fantastic map! Visually it's similar to the Bluestone Falls map. The blue and green vegetation is so beautiful and this has become my favorite map aesthetically. It's absolutely gigantic with wide open spaces that allows for so many different possibilities to expand the colony. The two different starting points are distinct and distant enough to make it feel almost like 2 different maps. There are only a few patches of the desirable fertile farm land so you'll need to plan accordingly and you can't grow Earth crops at all anywhere so you'll probably want those trade hubs set up quickly. It's a semi difficult map but not overly hard which makes it a lot of fun to play.
Overall this is definitely worth a few dollars to help support an amazing dev that has otherwise given us numerous free content patches.

As much as I love Aven Colony, the only reason to get this map is if you are an obsessive completist (like me) or if you want to donate to the developers. It sounded like a unique premise (grow alien-only crops on a lovely blue-hued map) until I came to the last map in the main campaign and realized it was essentially the same scenario. The reason this map exists is that it was a pre-order bonus, and it really adds nothing to the core game.
