The fact THIS DLC has mixed reviews is why I take most negative reviews of any DLC for stellaris with a grain of salt. I wish steam could be more proactive with the "off topic review" asterisk. This is one of my favorite DLCs of the game. It added what I wanted it to, there was little to no other DLC I expected to need for getting content from buying this, and it worked well and was fun. It was what I had come to hope and expect paradox would hold themselves to in terms of DLC quality and pricing. However, 8 years after this came out I unfortunately cannot say the devs OR the community/consumers have made my hope seem anything but vain. Genuinely the only "fault" this DLC has is they made another better one, which is now in the "mostly negative" range because of an update that CAME OUT LATER. The funny thing? This new DLC came out 7 WHOLE YEARS LATER. Plenty of time for the devs to actually make the DLC worth buying as well. Did the update cause problems? Yes, and they need to get things sorted BEFORE releasing updates- a problem that has been consistent for too long. Just like the most recent update set things on fire for far too long. However, it actively muddles the message for outside buyers and the people who actually make the decisions (the money men, as is unfortunately usual) when people start review bombing the GOOD EXAMPLES Paradox creates because of unrelated problems. Simply keeping the review positive, or explaining why you are CONSIDERING changing it to negative, would allow you to get across it's reduced quality AND let you explain why it WAS and COULD BE better if things change (which they often do with the constant updates- which people ALSO complain about). There are ways to get across dissatisfaction WITHOUT sabotaging your own message and making it HARDER for people to have an accurate view of the quality compared to the price. Figure that out before you try boycotting- it makes it harder for those of us who ACTUALLY put our money where our mouths are when it comes to purchases. How? You make us look bad by association, you confuse the message of what the actual problem is, and many of you don't even stop buying this stuff anyway- making all your complaining white noise they can tune out while they focus on what ACTUALLY matters. Their bottom line, and people's willingness to fork over the cash to support it. Bad boycotts make that EASIER for them to do without actually improving because they (and admittedly to a lesser extent also people like me) point to you as examples why they will always HAVE an excuse for "not knowing what consumers want". Get organized, get your heads out from your rears, and get competent. If you want things to improve- you have to improve yourself first.
