Really short at the moment but has the potential to become a great 'choose your own adventure' type game. I would recommend the devs run a spell check on their quest dialogues though. One thing I love is how the way you complete quests affect your options in other quests. I would love a few more options with quests though - I felt as though I was railroaded a lot of the time into taking quests where my options were limited due to their difficulty. I would also like to see a way of levelling up and increasing your attributes throughout the game. Being stuck on a base of 1, with a max increase of 2 from trinkets/equipment really does limit what you can feasibly do and the decisions you make. At the moment, it's a fun way to spend an hour or so. Not sure if worth the asking price considering the amount of gameplay at this stage, even if it is early access. That being said, it is enjoyable and the art style is lovely. Tbh I'm mixed, but am optimisitc and would lean more towards yes.

I really wanted to like this game, but as it is, I can't recommend it to anyone but a masochist. At the risk of being told to get good, I'll admit I couldn't make any progress in this game at all. Your character does so little damage and has so little health that you have to end up making a bunch of fodder characters to use as sacrifices while you try to suss out the only real way to get through a mission unscathed. Which isn't fun. It's a chore. Not to mention the less-than-stellar UI and grammar/spelling mistakes numerous enough that it can't be written off (also, for a text-based game, these things are pretty major to get right, since there isn't much else going on). Overall, this game really disappointed me. Not only did I feel frustrated that I couldn't even experience all the quests due to the constant deaths and loss of progress, but I also felt stupid for not being able to figure out the nonsensical narrative paths the game tries to lead you down despite not really making much sense. There's no reward for thinking about the options--no real reason to even read the scenario--because in the end it almost always comes down to just randomly picking the only perfect branch. Which kinda defeats the entire purpose anyway, so why play.

It's cute, it's cartoony, it's simple, and it doesn't (at least for now) take itself seriously. It's basically a "choose your own adventure" game in bite-sized chunks, in which you get quests from a quest board at the tavern, perform them through a series of text choices, succeed (or fail) and get rewarded, as well as unlock other races and classes. The production values are good, with a consistent art style. No crashes in 30 minutes of play. - The overall feel for the game and fact it can be played in short sessions makes me believe it would do well on mobile platforms. The engine could allow for other genres as well. - To the devs: You will need a native English speaker to write your text. It is never possible to do this well if English is not your first language. The current English is passable, but contains odd phrases and some incorrect words and grammar. For example, many quests refer to the "Reign", when the word you wanted was "Realm". But fixing small mistakes such as this won't get you AAA text -- that needs to be done by a good, native English speaker. The game world feels fairly random, though I can tell some thought went into the lore. The problem here is that you're presented with everything at once -- all the races, factions, etc, and it's simply too much to consider at the start of the game. The game really needs a good, epic story mode that allow unlocking of new content (perhaps new quest hubs with new quests as factions slowly unlock?) as one progresses through the story; right now the quests feel fairly random and artificial. Allowing players to create DLC as mentioned in the description, could increase longevity / replayability by allowing for essentially endless content. I am not convinced the current design of leaderboards is the way to go, as they feel artificial and are not satisfying on an emotional / storytelling level. Some other thoughts: - It is not clear to how difficult a quest will be vs. my abilities before I take it. The same goes for engaging in combat. The "3 skulls" interface is a good start, but it's still fairly vague and doesn't give me a good idea of what my chances are. - In addition to a better ability to sense my chances of success (understanding that the way things are designed, this would probably have to be displayed on every choice), it would be nice to see the dice rolls. It would make things feel more like I was participating. Right now whether I succeed or fail feels like the game has made an arbitrary decision. - The once per fight special ability: right now I cannot think of a reason not to use this at the start of every fight, which begs the question -- why have it at all?.I like the idea, but not the current implementation. Perhaps this should only be available at certain parts of the fight, and only if the choices match (for example,
the fight with the drunk dwarf, in stage 3 when he stumbles toward you after you smash him with the beer mug...maybe only then does my special ability become usable).
- I would like more ways to obtain quests than the quest board in the inn. NPCs who sometimes appear in the tavern with random quests would be fun, as would quests that open up "in the field" while you're on another quest. A quest board is fairly sterile and lends to the artificial feeling of the lore. The game engine is great. It just needs careful content curation to reach its full potential.

I want to like this game but it sucks. I really like the adventurer's guild premise, but every quest is filled with arbitrary nonsense and unbeatable tasks. I've tried sooo many times to make a mage character, not one time has it paid off to have. There is no system for what quests are available at any given time. Most of them seem like you're supposed to lose, and the other's are deceptively simple. I've had to scrap several characters because I know how the available quests are going to go, because I've tried a million times. You can't single handedly defeat an enemy with the hardest difficulty with the gear you got for $10 at the beginning of the game? Oh well you lose reputation, you suck. You need 3 materials but you know that getting those materials will get you killed? You suck, EHH. You can't defeat a tribe of goblins by yourself and going the diplomatic way just makes things worse even though you have points in the diplomatic skill, suck EHHHHHHHH. It's not fun. I get excited about giving this game another chance but its the same every time. Make a character, select comically impossible quest, die/fail quest. It's a really fun game if you're doing a strength build. If not, completely dreadful experience.

Finally a solid "choose your own adventure" has arrived. That is the shortest way to sum this game up. Great early access game and the developers are amazing at constantly working and updating the game. They keep the customers updated and love to hear feedback so they know what to improve. If you enjoy climbing the leaderboards to become the best adventurer, striving for achievements to unlock new races and classes, or just creating your own story, this game is for you. I'd recommend grabbing it now while it's in its early stages. For actually being able to choose your own adventure, I give this game a outstanding 5 stars.

TL;DR I'm only recommending this because it went free to play and for free this is a fine game As someone who payed full price this game was disappointing and short with plenty of spelling errors and grammar mistakes. It was pretty disappointing that after spending 10-15 dollars on this that the devs left early access and then proceeded to go completely silent and not update the game for 2 years but that was a risk I took and paid for. Either way the game is fine and now that its F2P there is no harm to trying it out.

Please keep in mind that I write this review from the perspective of someone who paid for the game. Since it is now free, you might as well give it a try. I love the concept, I really do. However, the game is just far too short only having about 18 quests. You can finish a play through in under an hour. You get a total of four races to choose from, each starting with an extra point for either power, wit or cunning. However, the only option you can really choose is power, simply due to most missions requiring combat. It almost feels as though the developers just abandoned this game after launch, which is a true shame as it had some much potential.

Pros: - Great concept - Your choices really do matter - Quests that are sparked by a choice you've made earlier in your adventure or by an NPCs actions make the world feel more alive and give a feeling of continuity that is getting pretty rare in today's RPGs Eg: [ SPOILER ALERT ] [ SPOILER ALERT ] During one of your first missions, the daughter of your contractor tells you about how she accidentally threw a love potion in a river. That simple mistake makes the animals and plants around the river start to reproduce like crazy, starting a quest where you must help the elves restore the balance. It also awakens a dragon, wich you're later contracted to kill. ___________________ Cons: - Grammar mistakes - Menus and functionality in general still not completely optimized - [ The only thing that made me not recommend this game ] There are only about 13 or so quests... You just finish those quests, retire your adventurer, make a new one and then do the exact same quests again. I wouldnt bother getting into this game until they have about 50 or so of them.

Just one line is an interactive choose your own adventure book. You can purchase armor, weapons, skills, and classes that will change how you react to diffrent situations. This is an awesome idea but sadly they were kind of damned from the start because if youve ever read a choose your own adventure book you'll know that every chose is more or less a blind walk in minefield which can make it very frustrating. Just one line sadly suffered from this problem as well. The only way to rectify this issue is to just memorize your choses and quickly click through them just to get back to where you were and ,unsuprisingly, this becomes repetative and unfun. If the devs add a saving system of sorts this could easily be fixed but untill than i cant recommend this in good conscience. TL;DR fun for a bit but gets repetative and boring fast.

The game is very short, riddled with grammar and spelling issues, and just overall not very satisfying.
CHOICES MATTER A lot of games say so, but a few truly mean it.
Unfortunately this game also seems not to "truly mean it" as most of the choices really only affect a (mostly) binary success/fail for the quest. Some quests are referenced by previous quests, and the whole story is more or less tied to a single event that you unravel in bits, but it certainly doesn't feel like previous decisions have a significant affect on future quests. And with only 18 quests, there isn't really much room to play out the cause/effect mechanic anyway. Overall, it feels like a rather short "Choose Your Own Adventure" book.
