FIELD BREAKING is an abandoned Early Access mobile app tier PvP block elimination puzzle strategy game. You're presented with a hex grid and must tap on blocks to eliminate them, and get more points than the AI. You must play against the AI because no humans play this because it's abandoned garbage. Who knew Valve's Early Access programme would be such an unmitigated disaster. Only about 25% of games ever get "finished", and it's abused constantly by shady developers and other bad actors. No matter how noble the intention it's proven to do way more harm than good, and this is yet another example of thousands. So should you buy it? Of course not.
The game was abandoned roughly about a year after launch and hasn't been updated in almost 6 years. It blew past the developers commitment to complete the game without any notification or admission of failure from the developer. The game will never be completed.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
This game has been translated from some other language into English... badly. If this was done through Google Translate, Google Translate should feel ashamed of itself. Regardless, the language in this game is broken and will put off a lot of gamers.
The game features lazy minimalist/untextured low-polygon "retro" assets and visuals, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. The lack of textures is a method that lazy devs often use to disguise their lack of talent/interest in doing the graphics properly and trying to disguise it under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. It's unclear why the developers weren't willing to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets and high resolution textures for the game. It looks bad as a result of their decisions, and that's just another reason to avoid it.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all).
Regardless, for all intents and purposes FIELD BREAKING might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players, and that happened only once, 7 years ago. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Unethically, the developer sold keys to this abandoned Early Access game into cheap, nasty game bundles, where they knew it would be advertised and sold as a complete PC game. This seems to have been done in an attempt to mislead gamers into buying a knowingly faulty, defective and incomplete product. When a developer does this for a game they have zero practical intention of completing, this is essentially a scam, an intention to get paid for a broken/unfinished product. Often this is done as an exit strategy, as the developer takes the money and runs. No refunds have been given, the developer kept all the money they took from gamers.
Another unethical act of this developer, knowing full well that this game is abandoned and they will never complete it, they are deliberately trying to scam gamers into buying it by offering it on discount from time to time. It's impossible to "accidentally" discount a game. The developer looked at their abandoned game, and instead of doing the right thing and removing it from Steam, they instead doubled-down and tried to scam even more people into paying for it. Greedy, and completely unethical. Doing the wrong thing, on purpose, for money. This is not okay.
FIELD BREAKING has the laughable, eye-watering price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this abandoned paid product.

This is really an amzing strategic game. But it has a lot of problems. The bigest problem it is most of the languages it is machine translation...It really annoyed me.
Then, let us talk about the game...I think this game it is really creative. And it also have a great space for development. Some people maybe can't understand how to play this game because of the machine translation...You just have to destory the hexagon every round, and then make u enemy destory a hexagon which will let the statue fell down.
This game also got some bugs. You probablly lose the game suddenly...I am not very clear about it.
If you is a hardcore strategic player...This probablly it is a good chooce for you.But if you is a casual player,i think you will get bored soon.
There is no body on the server. If you want to play multiplayer game, you can call you friend to play with you.
Why i don't recommend this game?As i said,the machine translation.

It is what it is. Not a lot of strategy. Essentially just don't break the ice the video game. Music 2/5, graphics 1/5, gameplay, 2/5

The basic concept is fun but the game itself is so bare bones and generic that I can't really recommend it. Definitely get it on sale if you are interested. 3/10

This game is clearly a prime example of an Early Access title done right; it released in a buggy, nigh on uplayable state, and 2 days later the devs have fixed most if not all issues, plus are very open to incorporating feedback/requests. It's a shame that no one else is playing this, as I think it would be quite fun against humans. The AI does leave something to be desired (is currently bugged at the moment), but it is passable. Also is sparse on the customization options, but I expect that will improve with time.
For any who might be confused, the opbject of the game is to remove hexes from a playing field one space at a time, until the statue in the center falls. The player that causes it to drop is the loser. As hexes are removed the physics cause the remaining hexes to weaken, so there is some minor strategy involved.
All in all, I really enjoy this title, and can't wait to see how it progresses in the future!
