VERTEX provides new world: 5 high speed straightforward maps with minimalistic environments.
Gameplay on these maps feels a lot like in Cairo world. If you value speed more than challenge in Redout, than you will like it.
Price tag is a bit too high for 5 maps, so I'd recommend buying it on sale.

Deciding that patching out gravity and air resistance wasn't enough, the devs have now implemented a safe virtual reality which allows us to go faster than ever before without the risk of getting lost in space and re-enacting the last few minutes of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Certified fast, permanently.

Another fabulous DLC addition to Redout! These tracks are set in an abstract, psychadelic, almost dream-like simulation which provides a visual flavor quite unique from the rest of the game. The two new musical tracks provide a nice ambience as well, maintaining the general techno / drum-and-bass flavor of the soundtrack while adding in some synthesized beeps and buzzes to bring the computer-themed environment to life.
As far as the tracks themselves- for those players who prefer the simpler, more curvy layouts of locations like Cairo and Alaska, this DLC is right up your alley. Even if you do prefer those really complex behemoths of Neptune and Europa like I do, these tracks provide a nice contrast and are a much-welcomed addition to an already stellar title.

VERTEX, aside from being a cool name, is unfortunately the most generic area in the game. The tracks don't have any special feature like the other DLCs do, and have less verticality than most of the main games' areas. The virtual environment is normally a cool concept, but in Redout's aesthetics it only highlights how low res the textures are. Moreover, one of the cool things about the tracks in this game is how they defy gravity: it is a cool feeling to race vertically up or down or while upside down; but in VERTEX there is no direction anyway so you are robbed of that satisfaction.
This isn't a bad DLC per se, but Mars and Neptune are vastly better and should be bought instead of this if you have to choose. The tracks are longer in those DLCs too, so you are getting both better quantity and quality. The only reason to consider buying this DLC before the others is if you like challenging tracks: while not quite as difficult as Alaska or Europa, VERTEX is quite a challenging area.

I like this DLC. There is no complex enviroment, like Neptune (i don't think this is a con). The tracks have very fast straights, are low on chicanes and the curves are fast, too. Jumps aren't that long and difficult.
The soundtrack completes the DLC's theme. Pumping beats, psychedelic tunes. I just love the guitar track, as it makes me remember of good old times.
I highly recommend this DLC for beginners and speed freaks.

I'll be honest: this is not as good as Europa and Neptune. However, it appears that this is "intentionnal": simpler tracks with minimalistic sceneries, which made for hardcore time hunting. And since it's only 4/5 euros, it's definetely worth it.

The Vertex tracks are rather more fun and less teeth-clenching than most, which is certainly not a bad thing! These tracks have more of a traditional, F-Zero vibe. Fleshing out the early Career with some easier events that are Not Alaska is very welcome. Funky music and highly recommended!

I must admit I don't like the abstract style here. Everything is an abstract colorful shape and it makes all the tracks look the same.
Part of what I enjoyed about Redout was the scenery and seeing a bit of machinery or a building whiz past you at 1000kmh gave the game a great sense of scale & speed. Without the concept of Vertex being a real place, it feels something is missing and detracts from the scale.
I found the music middling and prefer the other zone's stronger beats.
There's no desire to replay any of the Vertex tracks for me, I'd much rather play one of the previous zones which all have better music, layout & style.

To start, I'm first going to say that this DLC is NOT as good as the last one. The tracks in that were absolutely amazing, as was the music. The tracks in this one are OK, but not amazing, and compared to the last ones are a bit too easy. I did have fun with them though, and for the lower price I guess they are OK.
I hope they come out with more DLC tracks in the future, and I would suggest anyone who is a big fan of the game pick it up, although if you are only getting one DLC pack you should get the other one.

The V.E.R.T.E.X. DLC is a nice little addition to the already diverse types of tracks in Redout. The new tracks are fun and not too difficult. However, the music that comes along with the DLC feels somewhat underwhelming compared to the other music in Redout (i.e. volcano,Alaska).
but overall I would recommend this DLC to anybody that already enjoys redout.
