should be cheaper, but a decent flavor pack. Adds some more event pictures, unit models, and soundtracks.

THIS IS AN EARLY ACCESS GAME THAT YOU EVEN NEED TO BUY AS A SUBSCRIPTION (20€ every 3 months), BUT THEY DON'T TELL YOU THIS. IT'S A SCAM. DON'T BUY IT. Read all for more infos.
Paradox policy on their recent games is this:
- the main game is just a blank platform;
- every game mechanic is added with periodic DLCs (every 3-4 months) which in the last year reached crazy prices and cost half a game each;
- every DLC comes with "free content" which totally changes the rules of the game, doesn't matter if you buy it or not, and you have to learn it all again;
- lately they even sell simple patches which fix PROBLEMS and unexpected behaviors in the game. You have to buy those;
- when the game reach a certain stage of developement and it doesn't really need any big new adjustement they don't stop. So they begin releasing DLCs (and free content patches) which keeps changing the game and its rules for no real reason, usually making it worse. Rules and new mechanics keep adding on each other making a crazy mess. We're talking about almos 20 DLCs of this kind made only for the sake of doing them (apart from the firsts maybe). Quality curve of recent Paradox games is a parabola: they get better with the very first DLCs then they start getting worse.
PROBLEMS:
- If you want the full game you'll probably pay more than 200€. ACTUALLY you pay that, but after 5 years they keep spamming DLCs, so...
- Even if you don't buy the DLCs, your game experience is affected. Usually it get worse, since the costant changing in rules and the fact that most of them aren't needed and they keep doing that just to sell more DLCs. After some time PDX games become a mess.
- Basically you're buying a subscription program. This feel like an early access game that you pay 20€ every 3 months. Maybe someone can be ok with that, but they don't tell you this is an early access game still in development nor that you need to buy the subscription program. So if you don't like this kind of things at all and you just like to buy a definitive and COMPLETE product, it feels like a scam.
Now you can make your choices about this purchase. At least you're informed.

I have no doubt this is an extraordinary game. If I ever figure out what to do and actually play it , I will leave a bit more detail. None the less I have no doubt you need this game.

Adds just enough flavour to specific nations for it to be worth five pound. That "just" is hanging on very loosely.

The Digital Extreme Edition Pack includes a bunch of different DLC in it. Funny thing is the DLCs included in this pack aren't actually available seperately anymore. Is this the only way to get them? Have they been intergrated into the game itself, is that why they don't have their own store pages? I don't know. You can see those DLCs in your library but they have no store page of their own. Some people are complaining that they apperantly didn't even receive all the DLCs included in this pack but thankfully I have all of them in my library so that issue isn't affecting me.
+Its a package deal, get this upgrade pack which will give you access to a bunch of DLCs. The DLCs themselves don't seem to have their own store page so as far as I know this is the only way to still get them.
+A music pack, units and events packs.
+Free.
-The music pack I don't care about, In most of Paradox's games the music in them has rarely stood out for me and most of the time I end up finding myself watching youtube in the background while playing anyways so useless to me. Might be useful to others but sadly its only 3 tracks, 10 minutes worth of music.
-While I care about the unit packs more because I end up looking at the units on the map and their models more often then I listen to the in game music I still have to admit that they're unit models in a grand strategy game. Nice that they're there, sucks that they're a seperate DLC, they won't be your main focus anyways.
-Aside from the music and the unit packs there's a few more in here too. Stars and Crescent pack which adds new events and event pictures for Muslim nations, American Dream same stuff but for USA, Purple Phoenix same stuff but for the Byzantines. The events themselves not so the event pictures but the events are more important to me then the other things included in this DLC but which events are they? Well I don't know. Why are they in a seperate DLC, especially considering when the game takes place and how important especially Muslim nations were during this period, well I don't know that one either. Thankfully this upgrade pack is free but I can't believe they used to sell events and event images as a DLC, were those sold seperately in the past for money before this free upgrade pack came into existence? I mean I wouldn't be surprised if Paradox did that.
All the complaints aside its free. Its hard to go wrong with free stuff. Was this being sold for money in the past, I don't know. Were the DLCs included in this upgrade pack seperate DLCs in the past all sold for a price, I don't know. What I do know is that sucks and thankfully today that is not the case. They're all bundled in this pack and its being given away for free. Thats a thumbs up from me.

Interesting events that bring some variation to the middle east. Great music. I don't really care about the unit models, but there are people who do, of course.
While many of the other EU4 DLCs come with features that really should've been in the core game, this one is entirely optional, unlike what other reviewers have said. You won't be missing out on anything special if you skip this (unless you regularly play Byzantium or the US).

I purchased this through Steam and received everything listed in the description, so I'd recommend going that route to hopefully avoid the issues some other people have had.
It's a pretty small DLC, I probably wouldn't pay $5 for it, but i'm ok with paying $2.50 primarily for the Byzantium content.

Rolling out core features as DLC is one of the worst gaming practices out there and Paradox is definitely in the running with EA for the greediest DLC model around.
This is a real shame because the core game is a lot of fun, but I will not invest or recommend a game involved in such abominable practices.
